@@bruhmingo vs Destoroyah was the only really good Godzilla movie we got between 90 and 2000, and that was them trying to (thankfully unsuccessfully) kill the franchise. The majority of the Millenium stuff was okay, but rarely got above that (Final Wars was fun despite its flaws, GMK was alright though nowhere near as good as the Gamera trilogy, Tokyo SOS was decent but took a while to get going on top of being a sequel to a rather disappointing movie).
Crazy that a Daiei film was able to outdo a Godzilla film, but this is my favorite Gamera movie. It’s got one of the darkest, somber tones I’ve ever seen from a kaiju film, plus the scaling and CGI are spot on, plus that cliffhanger as Gamera heads off to another fight with the Gaos flock with a roar.
I like to imagine that Gamera is just pissed that he's being forced to fight a side-boss instead of his main objective. "Stupid giant Kaiju god thing. Taking time out of my day to fight it instead of letting me kill gyaos."
the gamera movies make me apreciate more the pratical effects, movies like Godzilla vs Kong and all the others previous movies have good cg effects asswell as battles, but i feel that having the pratical costume and all the pratical stuff , gives a different sensation, that i myself like more. i also like that these 3 gamera movies have a more mystical side to it in contrast to most of the monsters movies.
That appears to be this directors specific style you can also see the mystical elements in Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah whom this director also made.
Hollywood already knows how to with films like Mad Max fury road The problem is they continually rush effects houses to produce cgi needed because of script changes and whatnot
It is the way the fights are portrayed, more physical and with more tension, specially because Gamera, as a hero falls and recieve a lot of damage implying that his foes are almost invincible, stronger than him.
I gotta say I like Iris as the villain monster more than the other ones this movies effects are a little better probably best movie, would be nice if the American movie companies make a couple of new Gamera movies the way they did with Godzilla's
@@rubenpasta6178 Legion didn't severely impale Gamera's torso to the point where he couldn't stand. And he finally did get back up Iris pinned him against the wall and forced him to amputate himself. Iris is his toughest foe. But Legion is great too. Such an impressive suit.
Well the tallest ultraman when not becoming bigger he is some where from 40-80 counting every ultraman while the biggest ultraman ever show is max with the height of 900 meter
If the monsterverse can expand more after gvk, than Gamera deserves an appearance in it aswell in order to expand the biggest basest there is if it adapted iris and more lore to king ghidorah

It’s insane that this came out the same year as Godzilla 2000 and Daiei were able to surpass Toho in the cinematography department
This trilogy are some of the best daikaiju movies ever made.
I love that movie too, but this shot starts bad and gets worse: ua-cam.com/video/OATmxXkkAOw/v-deo.html
As much as I love Godzilla and especially adore Godzilla 2000, yeah, this trilogy easily tops most of them!
Toho was an incompetent mess during the 90s and early 2000s.

Gamera roaring in the rain is an awesome shot godamn!
3:54 Okay, we can just talk about the growl Gamera did? He’s really pissed off in this entire movie
He sounds extremely pissed

If iris made an appearance in the monsterverse, I’d expect him to be even more terrifying like doomsday
Omg the camera angles in this movie are awesome. Definitely the best gamera movie.
Excuse me... "Gamera angles"

Man, this is cool CGI for a 1999 film. This makes Godzilla 2000 look like child’s play.
2:53 okay that was badass. But can we acknowledge the fact that Iris just swatted Gameras attack like it was nothing to him.
The fact that the iris tentacles expand over more than km is something that makes it more threatening
Wait isn't gameras Fire balls explosive on impact How did Iris just fleck them away like they were just bouncy fiery balls or something

Well, the film's Special Effects Director, Shinji Higuchi, also worked on Evangelion.
which one? armisael? sachiel? zeruel?
Ngl mother legion kind of reminds me of Shamshel with its upper body segments
