Destiny’s chat was so negative about sitch and Adam even though they agreed on 90% of the points during the show and overall agree on 70-80% of their political views. People calling them reactionaries is so dumb. They literally just try to not straw man conservatives (even though I think Adam is too generous to them a lot).

I enjoy listening to Sitch and Adam once in a while, I think they lay down the centrist positions pretty well and are overall chill dudes.
Edit; to people dismissing my ,,centrist" label I feel the need to point out that America (socially) is very left-leaning. Sure, Adam may be a light-flavor of a conservative in California, but his opinion on abortion, the lgbt community, religion etc are very liberal in countries east of Germany. I think my label is 100% justified, if we judge their views from the prism of world-politics.

As far as the sex ed in school. We did a thing here where most of the class had cups of water, a couple ppl had like vinegar or something. You would mix two cups together then separate them out. That was "having sex". You would do this 3 times. Then they'd put an indicator in and if it changed pink that meant you got an STD. Everyone always had an STD.

Maybe it will be better explained this way: the act of premarital sex is seen as inherently bad and definitely frowned upon. But if you are a woman/girl who is no longer a virgin you are seen as forever tarnished by that fact. You have taken something from your future husband, and in extreme cases are seen as no longer marriageable. But if you are a man who has premarital sex then you are definitely told that you are sinning and should stop, but if you do stop, people will probably just say that you had a "wild phase" before you found the right girl and that's kinda the end of it.

Uhh.. So, I'm around the same age as Destiny. My public school (Fort Worth, Texas) taught nearly the exact same things he talked about (shadow partners, grotesque images of genitalia, how having multiple partners ruins your ability to have intimate relationships moving forward - they used a bruised apple to explain it).
I don't think think the dogshit explanations of sex are only isolated to Catholic schools.

How many years ago was that though?I'm younger than destiny and my sex ed in Houston wasn't anything like he described. We watched a video explaining the biological process, stds (some of the common ones, how they are spread & how to avoid catching them), and contraception. We were advised the only surefire way to avoid pregnancy and stds was abstinence (which is true), but they didn't tell us that is what we should do. Never heard of this shadow partner or bruised apple thing. That's wild that you got that in a public school.

@@barneystinson2781 So thinking back on it. I had two sex-ed talks.
The first one was in PE (general population of students) and we were were split-up by sexes for that day. It was probably fifth grade - so 1998? All students got this one (in comparison to the 2nd one which I'll discuss below).
This was the one that said abstinence-only, bruised apples, shadow partners, and didn't at all talk about contraceptives. Some of it was a video, which was the STD portion (i.e. grotesque images with no discussion whatsoever about the treatment of STDs, which led me to believe STDs were permanent), and showed the male anatomy. The female It did not talk *at all* about the female anatomy, or how sex was performed (which.. caused one of my friends to have sex incorrectly/anal).
I then had one more sex-ed class 2-3 years later. However, ONLY the honors students had access to it. We were told not to tell our parents about it. However, we were told that we could leave if we thought our parents would be against it, or if we weren't comfortable.
It was performed by planned parenthood, and it was supposedly the last year that planned parenthood was going to be allowed into the schools.
It was super useful. It showed how contraceptives worked, was a more honest discussion about how sex is both biological but your feelings are tied to it, etc. They did the condom on a broomstick thing (to show how stretchy it is), and talked about how to correctly roll it on the penis.
I wish everyone had had access to the 2nd one.

@@lordsneed9418 Is that in relation to this? "how having multiple partners ruins your ability to have intimate relationships moving forward - they used a bruised apple to explain it"
I'd argue that the thing that ruins intimate relationships (girlfriends, close friends, family) has less to do with the amount of sexual partners you have had and more on everything else - technology and social media dividing our attention, weakening of social ties (religion and local community are less important), the ability to move around more easily, in general life being sped up and more complicated.
I mean, the vibe they gave was that if you had sex once before marriage, that you were basically damaged forever and would never have a normal relationship (also, that you should immediately shun a partner if you find out they have had sex before). This is weird considering that most people have had somewhere around 5 sexual partners.

      1) You're ascribing to me some pretty extreme points that I have never once said. You're either intentionally or unintentionally strawmanning me, and I don’t know which
      a) “number of prior sexual partners has no effect on your ability to form long lasting relationships”
b”) “But it's just as wrong to say that no matter how many sexual partners and relationships you have, that on average has no detrimental effect on your ability to form a lifelong relationship."
I never once said either of these two points ^
In fact, my response to you opened with, "I'd argue that the thing that ruins intimate relationships (girlfriends, close friends, family) has less to do with the amount of sexual partners you have had and more on everything else". The key words there are "less to do", which means that I am openly acknowledging that they have some effect.
I even reclarified that the thing I thought was bad about the first sex-ed was that they said the extreme. That having more than one sexual partner in your life necessarily caused issues. They didn't say it *could* have an effect. They said that it necessarily would, which I completely disagree with.
      2) "...if you have sex once before marriage means you'll never have a normal relationship is a gross exaggeration and wrong." If I had to sum up the general idea of what I thought they were trying to convey, it would be this sentence. Also, let me just clarify a definition, "intimate partners" doesn't just mean sexual/marital partner. They basically said it would seep into every part of your life, like how a bruise on an apple, although invisible on the outside, eventually leads the apple to being rotten to the core.
Just to end the fictional argument:
Whereas I am proposing the model : " number of prior sexual partners does have an effect on your ability to form long lasting relationships , and attention-dividing aspects of modern living also has an effect on your ability to form long lasting relationships.”
-I fully agree with this statement.
      Again..
      1. I do think that a greater number of partners can definitely have an effect on your ability to have intimate relationships.
      2. I also think that the opposite is true. That the inability to form intimate relationships can lead to a greater number of sexual partners.
Thirdly...I think that they can not only directly feed into each other, but also into themselves.
If I were to give you some sort of point that you could disagree with me on it would probably be this..
I think that it's more likely that a persons inability to form intimate relationships has a relationship (causation) to the amount of sexual partners they have (versus the opposite). The exact reasons as to why they have problems forming intimate relationships would determine if that means the person has a high number (your example of some sexual trauma cases) or a low number (incels). I would also think that this metric would just be an overall better indicator on whether the person is, "bruised".
Actually, incels are probably a good group to point towards as most likely having lower scores of relationship satisfaction (in comparison to those that have had multiple partners), despite them having a "low body count."
Lastly, when I talked about, technology, lifestyle, religiosity, community, etc., my point was just that it damages people's ability to form intimate relationships (does this by: leaving us with a crappier set of tools for managing people/relationships, it being easier to view digestible media than spend time with people, fewer structures that tie us physically together, etc.).
