    This is a fantastic showcase! I can attest that LoreRim 2.0 has become my absolute favorite Wabbajack list. It has the best, most consistent visuals. It also offers fantastic roleplaying opportunities as well as finely tuned combat. There is so much attention to detail - I am constantly finding wonderful new additions to the world. It stays true to Skyrim's strengths and atmosphere while improving many aspects that were lacking in the original game.

    I think LoreRim is everything I always wanted Skyrim to be - the reason I spent probably around 1000 hours modding, yet never really "got there", because there was always something missing. I took a break from modding Skyrim years ago, before Wabbajack and these huge modlists became a thing. I'm thinking about going back to Skyrim, I still have my Mod Organizer instance, but there's absolutely no way my own personal list could ever stay in the same line as something like that. Especially in terms of balancing the game and patching mods to go together. Not to mention the amount of time I would have to spend to update everything and figure out the conflicts.
    I think it's time to retire my own modlist, just download the LoreRim and maybe, just maybe, finally get to play the game by accepting that I am embracing someone else's curated modlist. Thanks for this video - it's a beautiful showcase and your editing skills are amazing.

    Okay this could be it. I tried Nolvus last year and found it hugely overwhelming as well as hefty on requirements. It was gorgeous but it felt a bit clunky. This looks like a nice balance of making the game feel different and look different without being cumbersome. Great video!

    • @RelentlessZen
      @RelentlessZen  2 місяці тому +2

      this is still a very demanding list when it comes to specs, there's options within the MO2 for performance options.
      Keep in mind this is a very difficult start , Reqiuem changes the game siginifcantly and if you're not willing to relearn a 13 year old game, you will struggle.

    • @RelentlessZen
      @RelentlessZen  2 місяці тому +1

      @Grieva-SeeD- what I'm saying is Skyrim Requiem is VERY different to Skyrim. It changes Base mechanics. How progression works. What dungeons are like, enemy AI etc... it's not just a combat overhaul. It requires some adjusting.

    • @RelentlessZen
      @RelentlessZen  2 місяці тому +5

      For example. If you wear heavy armor, you need a perk in the skill tree or you simple won't have any stamina.
      regeneration of stamina , health , mana all work differently.
      your race. Birthstone and first 3 perk points are essential to the type of character you want to play. Vanilla and power fantasy modlists like Nolvus don't really feel that weighted in decision making.
      Don't get me wrong I highly recommend the modlist, just expect to have a learning curve.

    The first person weapon swinging animations remind me of vermintide, which is a good thing. I always found those more appealing then the simple back and forth animation of most Skyrim weapons.
    I've played a lot of Requiem and while I've had a lot of fun, there are certainly a lot of annoyances like segments that gate your progression and encourage you gain enough power that you break the game. Not that I don't want challenging level gated areas and a need to prepare but the random random difficulty spikes and certain cheesy mechanics make it so that the sweet spot only occurs after level 20 in before level 40. Things come to mind like arrows in the early game being super accurate instakills or certain enemies like ebony vampires, dragon priests, enchanted spheres, or invisible entities being nigh unkillable without specific builds especially without the ability to disable some of the silly health regen many of them have. Conversely game magic schools culminate in game breaking spells that instead of being epic trivialize and make boring many encounters.

    @UndeadCheetah 3 місяці тому +4

    Absolutely can't wait to get into this list! Tried Empyrean, Living Skyrim 2, 3 & 4 (my favourite so far), and Elysium. But this, this looks to be the best, mainly cause I find most quest mods just don't fit smoothly into the basegame.
    I will say though, actual 2-handed swords such as claymores, don't weigh much (about 4-5.5 pounds/1.8-2.5kg) and are somewhat agile weapons when wielded properly. That being said, I sort of understand making them slower from a balance perspective.

    • @RelentlessZen
      @RelentlessZen  3 місяці тому +5

      @UndeadCheetah I wouldn't say the animations are slow either though. They're just not inhumanely fast like JRPGs or other high fantasy games.

    • @UndeadCheetah
      @UndeadCheetah 3 місяці тому +3

      @@RelentlessZen Oh yeah totally. I think I just find the wieldy, highly choreographed, sweeping swings to be unrealistic.
      But I'm also not a snob for these things and realise it's necassary in a game where you don't want the player to feel like they've been cheated cause a bandit struck you 4 times in a second, all in the name of "realism". It's a fantasy game afterall.
      But got started on the mod list and I'm loving it.

    • @RelentlessZen
      @RelentlessZen  3 місяці тому

      @@UndeadCheetah Haha yeah I'm in a similar mindset, comparitively to other modlists the animations here are very grounded, of course things are going to look "choreographed" its a moveset. like any video game would have.
      I think some people might have mistaken my choic of word as "weighty" to mean slow when I actually meant "not as floaty" meaning it actually feels like you're swinging a sword and not something made out of paper.

      @@RelentlessZen Honestly, the Precision mod coupled with a strong combat mod is a godsend. Whether you like more fantasy-esque combat or more realistic combat, you can feel the impact of your strikes. Very few games manage to do that on this level. First person feels like Dying Light 1 and 3rd person feels like an Elden Ring/Assasins Creed/God of War combo. It feels like modders will keep these games alive forever

    I used to think this modpack is too hard, but it’s configurable to some extent and it’s harder than the vanilla game but it’s so rewarding finishing a bandit hideout at level 10 without dying once. The accomplishment felt from knowing when to block and when to swing, when to dodge, when to use a bow if you have one (I’m playing a redguard legionnaire, so I go between a crossbow and a sword and shield)
    Only thing I changed was turning off fast travel cost because I work for a living irl and I don’t want to spend all my time walking everywhere, and I do just prefer fast traveling. My playtime window is very limited.

  • @nate9948
    @nate9948 20 днів тому +2

    Small nitpick, long swords are actually quite light. Video games always get this wrong and it bugs me a bit, but for balancing purposes it makes sense as if it was as fast as it could be in real life it would basically just be a two handed short sword in Skyrim

    • @RelentlessZen
      @RelentlessZen  20 днів тому

      @nate9948 take a look at a daedric greatword and try telling me its light. These are fantasy swords, they're oversized, thick bladed and completely not realistic at all.
      they're absolutely not long sword.

    • @nate9948
      @nate9948 20 днів тому +2

      @ even the heaviest swords meant for actual combat in human history have only weighed up to roughly 2-3kg with the heaviest being around 3.5kg. I get that it’s fantasy and not meant to be realistic but my point was that most games get this detail wrong. Also I wasn’t talking about the fantasy swords that could never possibly exist in real life, I was talking about the ones with real life counterparts such as the steel or iron swords, you could even make an argument for the dwemer greatsword but I’m unsure of the lore accurate weight on corundum. All I’m trying to say is the swords are slow and unrealistic at least in the base game, I have no idea how they feel in this mod as I’m currently waiting for it to download, I’m hoping they make it at least slightly more realistic

    • @RelentlessZen
      @RelentlessZen  20 днів тому

      @nate9948 that's also subjective to what historical swords you are referencing Zweihanders, longswords, Claymores. The most common wannabe historian compares "two handed" swords is a Montante which is a thin but tall sword gripped in two hands. Which is very agile however None of these are in Skyrim. It's a high fantasy game. And considering the context is Skyrim .... well it's literally pointless making comparisons to fictional weaponry which barely resemble historical weaponry.
      That been said the animations vary from slow to fast depending on your stance you use. Theres something to accommodate any weight of type of weapon.

    • @Miszorov
      @Miszorov 4 дні тому

      @@RelentlessZenI'm sorry but even with a proper Zweihander an experienced guy can become a beyblade, and the Zweihander is *huge* , easily bigger than the Daedric greatsword (and "wannabe historians", as you've obtusely put it, usually think about those swords, at least judging from years of forum experience). Those animations are simply too front heavy, as if it was a teenager trying to swing around a logging axe lmao

    • @RelentlessZen
      @RelentlessZen  4 дні тому

      @Miszorov zweihanders are longer, not thicker, heavier than FICTIONAL video game swords.
      if you're trying to tell me that a FICTIONAL video game sword that is thicker and wider than 2 plates stacked together is going to swing the same as a real life properly balance weighted sword with a blade that's edged correctly.... well i don't know what to tell you man. Comparing reality to fiction is unhealthy for your mental. Because its incomparable in no way do the 2 things even look the same. The only characteristic that is similar is they're both swords and you hold them in two hands.
      you're completely missing the point of why they make this weapon type in video games in the first place. Which is balance. Because again this is a video game where you shout people to death, dragons fly in the sky and you can put buckets on people's heads and steal all their possession while they are non the wiser.
      so yes, do try to over explain how I'm wrong that a Zweihander would swing just the same as a Daedric greatsword.
      real tired of wannabe historians who can't separate Reality From quite clear and obvious fiction.

    It's a shame LoreRim doesn't have a dedicated guide. There are so many mods, so many tweaks, it would be amazing if it had something like a wiki were you could at least know what spells, armors, magical effects... are in the game so you could plan something ahead.
    Can you tell us something about survival mechanics? Is there something like Campfire so you can camp anywhere, or Frostfall to implement a freezing mechanic?
    Is it possible to respec your perks, maybe after defeating Miraak? Normally respec is forbidden in Requiem's lists.
    Is there any item or spell to teleport around the map? Or any to teleport in combat?
