Van and Ute Weight Be Weight Safe!

In this vid we do the all-important caravan weigh in! Our 21'6 three bunk van and Navara get the once over. We thought like a lot of others out there that she'll be right, let's just see how we go. We used Be Weight Safe and Peter was fantastic- he ran through absolutely everything and assisted with us moving weight around to see how it effects tow ball weights etc.

Thanks Don, definitely worth the money and an eye opener. We thought the Navara would be safe but it was too close to the GVM.

No one in the Navara when you weighed the GVM? Pretty sure the weight of all passengers is supposed to be included ...

Gday, that was just a cheapy off the net, but now run STEDI they are too good for the price.

The problem is they call 4wd accessories as payload and they shouldn't!! Kerb weight is the weight it rolls off the production line! e.g. 2500kg. Load it up with accessories bullbars etc including passengers, full tanks of fuel then put it over a weigh bridge and whatever that weighs is the new Tare weight! GVM less Tare weight is payload. If your GVM is 4000kg and your new tare weight is 3500kg then your payload is 500kg. If you hook up a 3500kg caravan with 350kg ball weight your payload is reduced you 150kg. GCM is the max weight of the Vehicle & Caravan and can't be exceeded! If your GCM is 7500kg and your tare is 4000kg that allows 3500kg. If your GCM is 6500kg less tare is 3500kg then you can only tow 3000kg. This is how it works with trucks and is easier for a novice to understand.

Hi Peter, we're a family of five. We weighed the kids separately and added a few kg's to allow for growth. This was added to the GVM, just couldn't have the kids there. Highly recommend weighing your set-up.
