    This is probably the most overlooked Muff pedal out there. Not easy to use but definitely unique. What do you think?

    • @dm-nq9te

      Sold mine without regrets, was sick and tired of uncontrolled highs. Also, typical low impedance input problems: it`s good for those who likes the volume-knob-wanking, but say hello to the tone sucking if pedal is not first in the chain - Fuzz Face heritage at it`s best.
      Was thinking about modding it, it seems not so hard, but in the end decided to buy another, real muff fuzz.
      IMO, Double Muff delivers a good, fat fuzz at max settings of D2, and works best for muddy pickups and amps(and for deaf players, lol),
      the rest of players should prepare their ears to be raped by tameless highs.

      @@dm-nq9te sorry but you're not good to it, it happens. I totally love mines, I have both the two versions and I love the but I use most the mini. Never had issues and never use the tone knob on the guitar but it's very simple and useful to do and results are better the tone pot on the pedals imho. One of the most versatile pedals with a lot of headroom, animpressive dynamics and really touch sensitive, totally great before my vintage Coron dist 10 and coupled are heaven.

    My double muff was used live outdoors, mild rust, got it repainted by a friend with gold sparkles and a volcano theme on it for my 18th birthday, 17 years ago.
    Played it through cranked vintage amps, hotrodded amps, practice amps, my go-to desert island pedal

    Def. underrated, these pedals react really well to the guitar’s volume knob.

    The Muff Fuzz, and by extension the Double Muff, have never gotten the play they deserve. I have been a Muff Fuzz devotee for going on 15 years now, still my go-to dirt pedal. Even though I am big Big Muff fan, I like the Muff Fuzz more. Has WAY more applications. I'm glad others are spreading the good news of the Muff Fuzz.

    I have a black face Muff Fuzz that I bought in pieces in the mid-70’s (I cost me a tenner!), and it lay in a box in my bedroom for 35 years until I found a circuit diagram and photos of the internal connections to enable me to put it back together!
    And it’s a fantastic little fuzz! It’s perfect for the Phil Miller-style sustained guitar solo sound I love on Hatfield & The North’s “Rotter’s Club” album.
    It’s a strangely overlooked pedal from EH’s history.

    A much weaker sound compared to the originals with their Ge diodes. It's no wonder they call the single unit the "Muff Overdrive" now. The Fredric Effects Demon Fuzz is a better option. It's the IC Muff Fuzz circuit with the option to select between Ge and Si diodes.

    • @andrewsmith1520
      @andrewsmith1520 2 роки тому

      The Muff Fuzz clone I have came from Fredric. It was custom built for me in a plain enclosure with the recommended with the recommended charge pump Klon buffer. My all time favorite dirt pedal still after 15 years or so.

      That's good to know, are you basin your opinion of the double muff from this video or personal experience? I'm just asking as i get, in my opinion, better sounds out of it than this video suggests are possible. I love my DM, but if the IC muff fuzz is as good as you say I'll give one a go

    • @MrDpool1
      @MrDpool1 2 роки тому

      @@DirkGentley42 Personal experience. I think it’s more a function of the Ge clipping diodes that aren’f in the Double Muff and newer Muff Overdrives than whether it’s IC or transistor. The Demon Fuzz has a bit more dirt and a diode switch so you can have the Si “Ovedrive” sound and a bit more volume if you prefer. The IC Muff Fuzzes from the 70’s are kind of annoying because they aren’t pedals. They’re plug-in boxes with a single knob and on/off switch like the original Muffs and Linear Power Boosters from ‘67.
