    "It's a little brittle" aka "I'm playing a strat through an AC30"

AC-30s and strats sound great, just fine tune the high end out as much as you can without it sounding like mud, and then utilize the tone controls on the strat to make changes. This guy is playing very bright. The 30 can get very dark and low-mid heavy if you set it up as such.

The trick is to crank Muff 2 and then use Muff 1 as the master volume or for more fuzz do the reverse.

I have just realized it sounds brittle and bright because the pedal has a low imput impedance like a fuzz face. If he was using the pedal BEFORE the delay (which could potentially be a buffered circuit), then this harshness results because of the impedance mismatch. It also causes a much higher gain in the circuit; not sounding like a fuzz at all.

That is bloody interesting... I do think pedal creators need to start listing their impedance levels... So, just like an amp will give out dangerous and unpleasant levels if connected to a speaker with too low Ohm ratings, pedals will give out more juice if the next pedal has lower impedance... So obvious now you say it but it has never crossed my mind!

I bought a store test model years ago for 30. I've always found it horrifically useful! Put a big muff over it and you can get any fuzz you'll ever need

Should have cranked the 2nd control and adjusted the first one for volume! ;) that was my favorite tone with this pedal.

It's an AC30 he's playing through. What do you expect?

I've had this pedal for years and to me it always sounded very full and fat (and yes, sometimes it even sounds too Muff-led), UNLESS I put any other pedal in front of it, or I roll down my volume. This is a pedal that's very sensitive to what you're driving in front of it, the input stage has to be your guitar and nothing more/ nothing less, without your volume turned down. It also sounds better when the amp is almost at it's breakup-point.

Milo Meskens so should I always put my fuzz pedals before everything. Im using the big muff pi and green russian. Like should I have it set up, guitar->big muff pi->green russian->volume pedal->digitech whammy->wah->hotone harmonizer->boss dd7 delay->boss rv6 -> way huge snucy (using as a boost)-> Marshall jackhammer-> reverb-> boss rc1 looper-> fender bassbreaker amp. Or the fuzz pedals right before the amp? I'm only learning now how important the order of pedals matters and effects your tone

@@joshfriesen5420 there are rules of thumb, but big muffs don't need to go first. Listen to what sounds best to you with your ears. :)

+1 if there's any pedal between the guitar and the DM it gets too bright... even true-bypass tuners or whatever... but as 1st pedal of the chain it sounds fine. Also, when in single mode, the top pot does change the sound a bit. Not so much as for being a tone control, but it can dampen the sound a bit.

In every video of yours you should turn the treble down a bit

Cut the high end on the amp. Otherwise good tone.

The AC30 laughs in the face of your desire to reduce high end
