In your opinion, is this much different than just using a dynamic EQ? I have a few that I already use in the same exact manner. This just seems like it might handle things a little differently. Perhaps closer to Sooth? Any thoughts on this?
Good question! If you already are getting great results sidechaining your dynamic EQs, one more plugins may not be necessary, but for a more flexible unmasking plugin, I’d go for smart:EQ4, since it can interpret signals from all your busses at once and make decisions accordingly in a certain hierarchy. Soothe is more of a resonance suppressor, although you can use it’s sidechain function in similar ways as well. The big pros with intelligent EQs like pure:unmask and smart:EQ4 is the fact that it gets you results really fast without having to do many tweaks. Hope that helps! 🙏
The side-chain profile should to match the side-chained instrument/bus, then be tweaked. The plugin is loaded on the instrument or bus you want to “carve out”. Hope that helps!
Sure thing. For example sidechaining with guitars or vocals, so that strings get pulled down a bit for what matters most, depending on what you want to make room for. The sidechain profile is only changing a few settings in the GUI, so feel free to use any profile, then tweak settings. Hope that helps!
You can get pur:unmask if you want to save on DSP since it’s a bit lighter and perhaps slightly easier to setup, but smartEQ4 cover all its features and is much more flexible. Hope that helps!
🍀👍So far the best tutorial on this new plugin, excellently presented and explained👍
Thank you Michael! Much appreciated!
Great video!
Thanks! 🙏

@@OliBeaudoin Yes.. That was very, very helpful. I really appreciate it. Subscribed!
Thanks my man! 🙏😎
How come you don’t have the plug-in set to the specific side chain instrument?

Its just how pro tools works/other daws. You just send busses to it
Can i also use it for instruments like strings? With the universal profile.

@@OliBeaudoin it helps, thank you oli.
Do we need if we have smart eq?

❤️
its on sale for 30$ on sweetwater
Thanks for the heads up! 🙏
Sorry, but I don't think I would have given five dollars for this software (PURE UNMASK = PURE MESS). It's really useless!!!
What isn’t working Roger?
