Would very much enjoy a series on the Sonible products, or even more interviews with their development team. Loved your interview with their CMO. A comparison series between the Pure and Smart plugins would also be neat. Might even be worth throwing in the FAST plugins from Focusrite since they use Sonible algorithms. I sense Sonible is going to be at the forefront of AI/machine learning software, so jumping on now seems like a good idea. As someone new to mixing, their AI is seriously speeding up my learning of mixing techniques. It's like having someone next to you while you mix alone, offering hints and suggestions on what might sound good. Can't recommend their stuff enough.
It took me 5 min of trying the demo to buy this plug in, I have tested every de esser known to man, non are perfect and somebody somewhere will complain, this one is just close to perfection. Tutorials yes please!
Sonible really does some good stuff. One suggestion - would it be possible to make a quick comment on the latency on plugins you test in the future. Obviously it doesn't really matter for mixing engineers, but a lot of us producers use mixing tools during production and latency can really kill the usefulness of a plugin! It's been especially noticeable with newer spectral and/or ML/AI plugins compared to the dumber ones from yesteryear :) Cheers
... and maybe some words about the CPU usage. I have several sonible plugins and they seem to use a lot of it - up to the point where other plugins (from UAD) are getting disabled in a DAW session.
Even for people who are mixing...you get to a point in a production where you realize an overdub or punch in needs to happen, but you've already done all kinds of processing. That latency can affect the performance when you are trying to throw things in there.
I'm kind of on the fence about buying the Sonible smart plugins, because I don't NEED another eq, another compressor, etc. But, learning more about the extra bits and bobs that these plugins can do might just be what makes up my mind to buy, so happy to see future videos covering those.
I very much enjoy watching you with a new plugin and I appreciate the occasional fumble with controls. The fact that you let us mortals see this is a true comfort when I’m staring at a new interface and trying to remember why I bought it. :-)
Finding that Sonible plugins big time savers on my work. I typically record live events that go for hours. I've found a lot of the other de-essing plugins way too fussy unless you are working on just one song/one performance at a time. On many occasions I've had to resort to manually reducing plosives and sibilance.
I think on balanced source material like your recording it's not doing better than a standard de-esser. I will try it on some heavy stuff, bad recordings.. excited to see how it performs
i would watch and rewatch these tutorials, i have smart bundle (except this one), so i would definitely benefit from it. i currently use hornet de esser, but i love sonible UI's, so i'm considering buying this one as well
Service post on "What's a phoneme?" A phoneme is the top category of phons with a phon being a single utterance of a speech sound - for example: [s]. All [s] that anyone ever uttered are then part of the phoneme /s/. I expected the plug-in to treat different phonemes, differently (like for example the sibilants in thick, sick and chic). But apparently it's only making a difference between plosives and sibilants which are categories above phonemes.
Often instead of removing the S (knocking the singer’s teeth out), I just want to change the S characteristics to be smoother (implants). Waves Sibilance held a lot of promise with Organic Resynthesis, they promised to do just that. I wonder how Sonible Dees stacks up against Waves Sibilance?
I'm actually using both and I must say the Waves Sibilance is still my favourite for de-essing. No matter how hard you push it it's just so good and natural sounding without any artefacts. I have had some issues with the Sonible Deess that it can sound lispy or oddly digital on certain sounds (I'm not sure if my ears are failing me - but that's what I thought). On the other hand, it's amazingly good at plosives. So I'm super happy using Sonible for plosives and Waves Sibilance for de-essing.
While I really love Sonible plugins and the Deess is not an exception, it lacks a crucial thing. Did you hear that it doesn't recognize "f's"? Not just a tiny bit, no, completely. Which means that I have to manually correct every "f" or use a second de-esser. Quite a big miss in my book. Other than that it is the quickest and best sounding de-esser I have ever used, software and hardware wise.
Some Sonible tutorials would be awesome. I’ve found they’ve crept into my workflow but feel there’s more depth to them than maybe I’m wringing out, thanks in advance!
Id love some tutorials for the Sonible smart line. Ive got most of them, but dont use them that often, because I dont get to it to really dive in and I keep falling back on my familliar Fabfilter plugins
I'm surprised you don't have an SS'y vocal which you know the issues and you compare to who you used to fix. I've tried EVERY De-esser as I have an SS'y vocalist I work with. :) The Eiosis e2deesser does it now for me! I'll compare to this.
Oh dear. You complained so much about the need to push a button to analyse vocals that you missed the little button beneath that big green "analyze button". It says something like "auto analyse on start-up". Would that help?
Ok this is going to be really, really good!..... I can already hear there's a sweet spot there, that you can reach pretty quickly. A tutorial would be very nice as a reference 😉👍
Am I the only one who typed the Dutch word in Google translate and got "Orange Juice Effect"? 😊 I think I liked the sound but would love to hear your update on this plugin, since I think this is one application Sonible's AI could really blow away other approaches. It reminds me of the Sibilance plugin from Waves, but I'm intrigued by the tone shaping controls offered here.
Maybe a bit for you to catch this comment but could you explore using this on instruments as well such as acoustic guitar as it is a great technique with some other de-esser's.. at least I find this myself
For me its Melodyne sibilance tool in combination with the 902, I feel like I get control and a predictable outcome like this. Also I don't get all those AI type plugins and I did try many of them -- the time it takes the "AI" to learn the settings is longer than it takes me to dial in the settings + the settings the plugin dials in most often are very basic and uninteresting
I've compared Sonible to my other plugins today. Sonible does a better job by being more thorough, transparent, and natural sounding. I'm still going to keep the others for other instruments or busses.
Last year I've interviewed one of the engineers from Sonible about A.I. --> ua-cam.com/video/ZGetnk222YU/v-deo.html
Sonible tutorials would be really great - make it happen and make us happy!

Yes please! Tutorials would be great.. I have been using all of sonibles plugins since seeing your videos reviewing them earlier in the year
My favorite de-esser is still Melodyne 5's sibilance tool. It's not real time, but it gives so much control.
Does it cut under 1k? I can't stand most of the ripping/distorted sounds and by cutting everything under 1k in a sibilance really makes it sweeter
Too much waisting time for me
Yes! Would love to see your tutorial on Sonible's Deesser! Thanks for all your great reviews. I learn a lot.

@@alexbreyer6921 True words.
@@alexbreyer6921 For sure true! All good reasons to start take notice of latency while test-driving the latest plugins :)

Great show ! Yes please reveal all Sonible details, these plugins are very interesting !
Very impressed. It sounded perfect on its very first analysis.
would definitely love to see sonible tutorials!

Hopefully they come out with a version for the Pure line to follow this soon with a similar or same algorhythm.
Of course they will.
@@Fastvoice I meant soon lol
Tutorial yes plz! Thank you for all your vids!
I would be happy to see a smart:comp 2 tutorial and in particular the best way to spectrally sidechain the instrumental to the vocal lead.
Use FUSER by Mastering the Mix for spectral sidechaining! It is a bargain and incredibly useful
The Lindell 902 is my de-esser of choice. Can even use it on the master buss without overall sound loss
i must say out of all the non AI deessers mentioned (including sybillance, Renaissance and Pro DS) I really like the Lindell from PA most.
Yes, please. Tutorials with that plug would be just great
i would watch and rewatch these tutorials, i have smart bundle (except this one), so i would definitely benefit from it. i currently use hornet de esser, but i love sonible UI's, so i'm considering buying this one as well
Thanks for doing this. Might come in handy for our podcast.
Order of operations? DS first and then print? Then compress?

I definitely want to know your conclusions after having worked with the plugin for a bit. If that turns into a tutorial, great!

Your turorials for Sonible plugins would be much appretiated as I use all of their smart ones.
I'm curious: What plugin would anyone use to smoothen bitalisaing noise, besides a rude low pass?
In the logotype, there's a clear gap between the two ee that indicates two words.
Please review the whole bunch of sonible plugins in depth
Sinuous, silvery streams of syllables, seamlessly dispensed? Super!
Yes, Sonible Tutorials Please
That would be fantastic if you made some deep dives into all the family of Sonible- thank you!!!
Would def like a tutorial on how you use Pro DS!
Deess:Nuts by Sonible

Yes please and also the full Focusrite collective plug-ins in partnership with sonible…
i like the eiosis deesser/fabfilter the most- curious to how this compares. I don't usually like spectral de-essers. I prefer wideband de-essing

Seems to be spectral based. Not sure if it is better than the iZotope De-ess using spectral mode which I think is the bomb.
Vs the Melodyne Sibilance Advanced Tools?
that tutorial would be much appreciated! thank you
includes pure:eq or smart:eq a de:esser?
What's the small cube at the top left doing?
