Heeey! What do you think about latest Sonible release? Into it? Sticking to Trackspacer, something else? Not into spectral unmasking at all? Lemme know down below!
@3:30 you are using this completely wrong . . . for example - when you route the kick drum to pure:unmask - which is inserted on the bass track - the profile you need to set pure:unmask to learn is 'Kick' and not 'Bass' (which is what you did).
You convinced me to get it right even though i have the other plugins but its the time factor that often messes my mind and this one seems so easy to use and totally effective. Thanks !
Thanks for the comparison. FYI, tbpro audio’s dseq3 is a full-featured spectral dynamic plugin…lots of controls and very tweakable, so if you are looking far a simpler interface, then trackspacer and unmask are useful, but dseq3 is a swiss army knife of spectral dynamic processing…IMO.
You forgot to mention SA-3 Spectral processor from mcdsp, it's like soothe but much cleaner and transparent it would be nice to see that plugin in one of your new videos
I’m sure this is a light version of smart comp 2. If you setup a sidechain in smart comp and turn the spectral compression to maximum isn’t that the same?
@@FoliaSound But I don’t think it has mid/side (correct me if I’m wrong) and that’s why I think Trackspacer is still more advanced atm. I might still give it a try to see how they compare otherwise. If Sonible adds m/s then it could be a serious competitor. And if both Trackspacer and Unmask would get a delta (solo) feature such as Soothe has then that’d be really awesome!
@@greedokenobi3855anything Sonible release named ‘pure’ is the smaller and cheaper version of the smart plugins they have. Smart Comp 2 offers the same spectral ducking with attack release and an adjustable sidechain EQ. You can then mix between spectral and full bandwith sidechaining
Hi Pawl! I have not tried this one but tried a bit of Techivation`s „M-Blender“ and must say that i like its GUI more (till now). The sonible looks like the workings are more hidden under the hood and i dont always like this but will try a demo at some point. when you compare „Range“ to trackspacer, does Unmask have the ability to set the affected frequency area like trackspacer? Like „let it duck only between 300-1500hz“ ?
trackspacer has some more tuning inside the advaned panel, just click the little dot at the right side. It will open the advanced attak/release mid/side
Trackspacer is applying the curve of the SC instrument into the masking instrument to create the space, also most tools do it like that which is for me kinda ancient technique. I'm not sure but it seems like sonible is using the same technique. On the other hand the Unmask module in Neutron 4 is far more advanced and is applying the cuts only when the masking is happening (when it detects masking) so it's not cutting anything while for example the bass guitar is playing higher notes and the kick is playing lower note at the same time.
I have this one but I already have Fuser so it will be interesting to hear which one sounds best. Of course Fuser also has phase adjust so it's a hard act to follow. 😎
@@gjb7966 a bad way. The result shouldn't differ like that. But it's all good, just use your ears till it sounds and feels right and it'll get you there
yes, but eqing vs overall end of stack layering is different in function. i've been using unmask for a day now and it has that tactile purpose whereas eq4 is at the bottom. i like it.
Yes, you can do the same thing using smart:eq4 and more. The pure series is meant to be a simpler way to do various things. In this case, it’s a straightforward unmasking of one track based on another.
I like it. You shouldn't be doing to much attack delay later in the stack where unmask goes. Trackspacer is nice, but that's more modular..which is really nice, but not as precise.
TrackSpacer is zero latency - which means you can use it in the production phase. Pure Unmask - like all their other plugins - add about 45ms latency, just enough to be completely useless in the production phase. So it's strictly a mix plugin. Pure Unmask is a bit slow to let go of its compression, even at the fast setting - which is audible in many situations. TrackSpacer let's you adjust this to instanteneous release. I have both - Pure Unmask is good - TrackSpacer is superior.
@@Reggi_Sample or any parametric EQ and ears. Plug-ins currently don’t show you masked frequencies from instruments to another in terms of overtone whistles.

I was looking forward to this, but it seems to not have the option to just affect the mid or the sides. I guess I'll just stick with smartComp 2.

@@Reggi_Sample Yes. But this one is showing the spectrum rather than the transients.
Hi, what about pure unmask vs smartEq4 ? It seems better for workflow speed and price, but what about quality for comparing it ?
Track spacer has attack and release and mid/side, it makes it more useful than pure unmask.
You have att/rel as "speed" in Pure:Unmask!

good point on the latency ; i didn't know yet and thought Pure Unmask would be less! thnx

WRONG use - you didn't understand the sidechain!
what this plugin doesnt do is unmask the frequencies inside of the track that whistle. that's way worse than inter-track masking.
Reso from mastering the mix probably best for that

Sorry, but I don't think I would have given five dollars for this software (PURE UNMASK = PURE MESS). It's really useless!!!
It is not about your video, it is about the software.
