No matter how many episodes of this series (I shouldn't be alive) I watch, it NEVER ceases to AMAZE me just how strong the human body, mind, and spirit truly is! The fact that a human being can endure all of this and still be able to hold on to the hope that someone will find them and they will survive this is mind blowing to me! I doubt anybody will ever read this comment but I've watched a ton of these and something about this episode just struck me as being so beyond incredible. It may be the best episode of this whole series. The fact that they all survived a violent plane crash in a small plane (an accident that normally kills all on board), then were able to survive 5 full days in the middle of the thick African bush with no water, two with terrible injuries. They all truly shouldn't be alive. There's the strong bonds between them - friends, husband and wife - that make it so much more dramatic. There's the guy who was responsible for them all being there, a CEO older than everyone else there with absolutely no bush survival skills, making the entirely selfless decision to try and walk out against all odds to save the rest of them. They encounter an elephant that could have easily killed them, but didn't. They somehow survived three or four nights without a fire without being taken by predators. They literally hit a needle in a haystack with that hunting lodge (whether you believe in divine miracles or not, it was an infinitely small chance) which resulted in their salvation. I just don't imagine you can have a more unlikely or compelling survival story than this. But who knows, I still have a lot of episodes left!

Major props to Carl for walking! That was a huge feat! Very courageous man to leave and go off on such a hike, beaten up from the crash and with no food or water. Idk if I could’ve done that or not. I’d like to think I would have for my friends, family or even strangers. But idk...I’ve learned to never say for sure that you know what you’d do when faced with a difficult decision. Sometimes we truly believe we’d do the right thing but then when the time comes we don’t. Dang...that pilot really had some bad luck! I feel so bad for him. He died two years later in a plane crash after surviving the first crash? Geez. So sad.
A plane crash because he didn't check the plane before? I mean that's what happened this time. Sad yes. But, due to driving planes that shouldn't fly maybe he should inspect the plane first before flying.
@@petrajamnik3430 he left the oil cap off. After adding oil he forgot to put it on. I've seen someone do that. Luckily he flew only 30 miles. The bottom of the plane was all oil.

I'm crying with joy while I'm writing this .. I'm so happy that they survived but sad to know one of the pilots died in another plane incident. The married couple have 2 beautiful children and they are so happy. I am always glad to know they all got home safe as some of the people in the story don't make it. Its just a shame for the other man who passed 2 years later.
That man! What a strong will of living. He knew if all stayed, they would die. They were all very courageous and went through so much. Many blessings to all. Sorry for the family of the pilot who passed 2 yrs later.
That woman knew she felt something I would have backed down right there, and she knew how to pray that worked for her, and the others my God. God bless the guys that walked such courage. Never ignore that gut feeling never. This one, and the last one I watched total chills God is amazing.
@@ka1z932 How did the pilot "fuck up so many times"? Do you think he MADE the oil leak happen? No! Obviously he didn't! It was a plane crash, they are ACCIDENTS! It could have happened while ANY pilot was flying the plane! In fact, I think he did a great job giving the circumstances. Remember after the crash landing they even said that ALL passengers on board (including the pilot obviously) should have died from the impact! It was amazing that he was able to conduct an emergency crash landing without a single person losing their life! He also volunteered to walk to find help because the other man who was going to do it was injured. He didn't have to do that! He could have done nothing and just sat there until he either died or help arrived. If it wasn't for the pilot and the other man walking for DAYS through an African desert without water or shelter from the sun/heat or the many different animals who could have easily made meals of of them...EVERYONE would have died in that desert! The ONLY THING I will admit the pilot did that was a very stupid thing was to fly without the emergency receiver (or whatever that is called that wasn't mandatory to have where they were). That was absolutely a terrible decision on his part as the pilot, but I would never go as far as to say he "fucked up so many times" and shouldn't have been allowed to fly again after this! If whatever it was that he didn't have was not legally required then he didn't break any laws, so what reason would there be to strip him of his ability to fly airplanes? So if we were to go by YOUR "logic", anyone who has ever been behind the wheel of a car when they got into a car accident should never be allowed to drive again (and we're talking about a car accident that nobody was killed in, and the driver was not intoxicated or driving recklessly...just an unfortunate accident,,because that's the case with this pilot). How about a surgeon? He's operating on a patient, and through no fault of his own the patients heart stops and he/she dies. Should thay surgeon never be allowed to operate again? Even though the death of his patient had nothing to do with him not knowing what he's doing or being careless...it was just unfortunate that the patient suffered a heart attack at that time. What about being a parent? Kids get hurt all the time growing up...climbing trees and falling, falling down when learning to ride a bike, fall off a trampoline and hit their head, they can get injured playing sports... The list of possible injuries a child can have are endless, it just comes with being a kid. So what about the patents of these children (so basically every parent in the world)? Should there be a law that says you can never have any more children if one of your kids gets injured in an accident? Should authorities be able to legally take your kids away from you because one of your kids was climbing a tree, fell down and broke an arm? C'mon...that's a ridiculous statement to make. If this the way things go, nobody would be allowed to do anything. Accidents happen. It's just something we all (well, not all of us apparently 😕) understand and accept as a part of life. Imagine what this world would be like if anyone who's ever involved in any kind of an accident was treated in that way?
" I can walk 5 km per hour, 8 hours a day, 40 km a day " Not in THAT heat in the direct blazing sun with no water or food you wont! "the pilot died 2 years later in an unrelated flying accident" Oh yeah, doesn't it figure he walks thru hell out there, survives, only to die 2 years later in a crash
All of these people were so strong and especially brave to walk out in the middle of wild animals. I believe their prayers were answered in the crash of the plane even through the injuries. 😢for those who have passed away.
As a child of Africa I understand . So glad you survived. Well done! I have left and live in Australia. I love it here but the smell vibration, animal energy of Africa grieve for and long for. @@IppokratisPoimenidis My comment was a joke made off the fact that in the video he stated that he didn't have a transponder because they were not mandatory.
Should have started the second engine back up. It hadn't blown up yet. Might well have run for another hour. Could have at least gotten some altitude and gotten a radio call out.
No, the pilot did the right thing to shut off the oil-leaking engine. From there on , it's was up to the pilot's emergency landing skills. It might be possible in emergency landing situation , to try to circle several times & bring the plane vertically up at the very last moment before touchdown and land vertically down on it's tail , thereby cutting down velocity & minimising human injury.
These series keep me riveted to the screen, amazed at our human resilience and depth of strength when ultimately called out; but it also reminds me of the dangers of coach potato-ling, of why we should be active and the need to learn some survival tactics. No matter how safe you feel you are, even a car ride can turn so drastic as to challenge your very existence!
Every video in this series brings tears to my eyes at the end when help finally finds those people. What a fight, what a courage and the most important thing is the desire to live. Never give up!

Normally my backpack is in my car, but my vest is wearable, this stuff are small and hardly noticeable. The vest do not even look bulky.

What an episode!!! The physical and mental strength demonstrated by the crash victims is beyond imagination. Eventually the pilot died in another crash, he seemed he postponed his own death may his soul rest in peace .
I find the words of the railroad worker who saved the region of Allentown pa from horrific perishing who said, "once the fear of death is gone you can do amazing things". Having used his body to avoid an inevitable catastrophic collision. He survived with epilepsy, mental illness, many fractures and I believe partial paralysis. I love this human. Thanks be to God for this extraordinary creation.
Just to make it clear, this plane crashed bc the pilot didn't do their due diligence and flew this plane ILLEGALLY. He wouldn't sign the certificate to clear the plane worthy of flying bc he knew the plane was defective and thought he could wing it, full pun intended.

What an amazing thing to find, near the end of their strength, that hunting lodge where a young woman sat reading a magazine. She simply picks up the phone/radio and calls for help. @@dutchhoke6555 Yes, but of course we only hear of the miraculous times people survived. I know people who won the lottery, etc. and they spend the rest of their lives believing they were in some way "chosen."
If you like this kind of stuff, I would recommend Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, a novel based on a true story about a man named Louis Zamperini, an Olympic miler gone World War II bombardier whose plane goes down in the ocean - it’s a truly incredible and amazing story about his survival even in the harshest of conditions.
Amazing story, I was shocked to hear the pilot was killed two years later in another flying accident, is flying that dangerous or was he just extremely unlucky!
Turns out there's a lot more going on behind this story then what the program reveals, plane was being operated illegally, did not have a valid air worthy certificate plus another questionable legality. And there was no oil cap for the left engine found at the crash site; looks most probable that someone / he didn't check the oil cap! From years of reading air crash investigations, it seems to me most people in light aircraft crashes are killed because the pilot was deliberately breaking the rules. Checking out the pilots character is probably more important than even checking the aeroplane.
Thank you so much for uploading. I am pleased that all made it alive too, after such intense injuries, and lack of water unimaginable. One question though, why wax the pilot so off course?
When they first heard the helicopter, they should have thrown a bunch of plastic items on their fire. Make a thick black smoke the rescuers can see easily.
Don't be surprised it's a race of people customs plus culture, extremely different from normal being. In such conditions people will want to stayed United and help, not them..🙈🙊🙉
@@seriousorganizer I think maybe they meant after they see the first rescue plane but aren't spotted and saved yet bc they go crazy bc of the disappointment?
Do you mean after the first rescue plane goes by and doesn't see them? So not being saved makes them go crazy? I don't know what you mean by crazy but their detoriating condition that comes after the first rescue plane that passes them over probably simply has more to do with the fact more days have gone by . Maybe the disappointment could break their spirit and make them feel hopeless. I guess that might can contribute to the will to live. I've watched a lot of these shows too and I think sheer determination helps a lot.
Without water they should walk a few hours early in the morning, and a few hours in the evening before sunset. Don't walk in the middle of the day in a desert with no water. To conserve water, it would be best to walk at night, but they might get eaten by animals after dark..

Oh man, I think about all of the times I've simply taken water for granted. Just wastefulness. Running the kitchen sink when I didn't need to. Same as the faucet and shower in the bathroom. I will keep that in mind after seeing this.
I don't do that I try my best not to waste water it's not a easy thing to get I'm from ja and as a little girl I had to go to a river when I was little to get water this is when I had to stay with my grandmother for two years. Meanwhile my parents were getting a divorce. I was sent back to Jamaica for that time so since then I been like this I was 7 years old I'm now 38 with a child that 22 so that shows u how much it impacted me. Lol so yes please think of people like the people that dont have running water. And it's not like this no more in ja from what I know of, but I do think of countries that still have to deal with this on a daily basis.
@@griffithss81 I had to come back to this comment & remind myself of what was said, but yes, it gained a lot out of watching this episode. It was really good, I watched it a 2nd time.

The pilot was such a good person, you can see it in his eyes. RIP good sir. Brave soul
His own recklessness in the 2nd crash killed his Co pilot taking off from a runway he knew was too short
Being a God person didn't save him from being a dumb, careless person.Oh well.....he gone now from being careless
How can you see it in his eyes?
I can't believe the pilot would even fly again after that!
He could make $100,000 a year flying, or he could make $25,000 a year working at McDonald's or somewhere.
I cant believe they let him fly again since he fucked up so many times.. he prob killed other people with him
Ebony Pegasus: bruh can u understand that was a accident happening they are not bad at driving the oiled causes the problems
Not everyone lets fear of the unexpected govern their lives. Unless it’s sharks. That fear is well worth the worry. 😂

But if it’s leaking oil, eventually it’ll dry up and catch on fire. Then they’re on fire in the air.
@@skoolie_life3261 most likely it would seize up, that extra 30 secs or more is precious.
No, the pilot did the right thing to shut off the oil-leaking engine. From there on , it's was up to the pilot's emergency landing skills. It might be
possible in emergency landing situation , to try to circle several times & bring the plane vertically up at the very last moment before touchdown and land vertically down on it's tail , thereby cutting down velocity & minimising human injury.

is flying that dangerous? do you live under a rock & don't know anything about anything?
Turns out there's a lot more going on behind this story then what the program reveals, plane was being operated illegally, did not have a valid air worthy certificate plus another questionable legality. And there was no oil cap for the left engine found at the crash site; looks most probable that someone / he didn't check the oil cap! From years of reading air crash investigations, it seems to me most people in light aircraft crashes are killed because the pilot was deliberately breaking the rules. Checking out the pilots character is probably more important than even checking the aeroplane.

Without water they should walk a few hours early in the morning, and a few hours in the evening before sunset. Don't walk in the middle of the day in a desert with no water. To conserve water, it would be best to walk at night, but they might get eaten by animals after dark..
