Man, i had no idea that my goofy instructional video would be helpful to so many. Glad hear about your siphoning attempts working out for you. I actually miss siphoning. Was an addictive chore.
This was the most helpful video I found. I was able to use a simple house siphon to vacuum the bottom of our kiddy pool. I just had a second person cover the house with their hand instead of a cork.
Uhmmmmmm... Nice tutorial...much appreciated... ADARNDORABLE youngsters😊😊😊 I would like to say...the minute you broke into a slight trot... I was fairly sure...you'd be grazing before you reached your destination...🤣😂🤣 You made a quick recovery...and I hope you've healed... Blessings~
THANK YOU!!!! Had to drain a 30+ gallon of chemicals/water to move the container to the back of my house. After 3 hours and 3 trips to walmart to rig a drainage "system." Your video got the ball rollin...FINALLY!! Thank You so much for sharing.
Thank you for the wine cork idea. It works great!!! We needed to siphon our in ground pool because of extreme rain and a broken pump. You saved the day.
Thank you very much. Draining our med size kiddy pool down our driveway now. Last year I was just draining it in our backyard. Flood. You are what they call…. Da Man!
Thanks for the tutorial, we gave it a go on a duck pond this morning that the previous owners put in, it works! Don't know how long it will take to empty, but now we don't need to buy a pump. Fantastic! Thanks again for sharing!
Man I’ve come back to this video at least 5 times to drain my manky pond, it is awesome! Fall and tempered parenting included “Guys don’t touch the hose” (ie ‘PLEASE don’t touch the f****** hose and make me do this again!!’) Thankyou Mate 🙏🤙
Saaaweeet!! Thanks guy... Hilarious too.. not you breaking ur ankle lol.. but the kids and u... Just like our family.. the "don't touch it. You understand?" {Butt whooping implied} had me actually lol. I use that with the mom 👀 look almost everyday. Im gonna try this siphon technique of yours to vacuum out the bottom of our "too big to dump out daily" kiddie pool my three year olds use as their mud puddle. Thanks man.. hope the ankle is ok🤣
I am dealing with what u did as we speak but ur funny i know u fell sorry for that u made my day great idea hope i dont fall lol cus i always repeat what i learn ouch
I did much the same thing by submerging my hose in the water while ensuring that at the hose was emptying the remaining air into the atmosphere. The result is that the entire hose is filled with water. Then I made a stopper with some rubber tube that I used to seal one end of the hose. After that I put a rock on the end that remained in the water and dragged the other end to lower ground and removed the stopper. The hose will form a siphon as long as the rise isn't more than the air pressure will push up the water AND the water on the lower side is lower than the water level. Its the same method except that I didn't need the water faucet.
Thank you for sharing!!! I have a deep hole that tunnels below my concrete driveway left by Xfinity after installing my cable line. Xfinity has refused to fill it and said I can fix it at my own cost and be reimbursed. Doubt they will. Water collects and I’m concerned about freezing temps.
Thanks for the video - my problem is that I can’t get inside the vessel I’m draining. All it has is a small hole, big enough for a hose, so I can’t get my hands in there and put a cap on it. Hmmm...
Oooh, that is tricky. Only thing that comes to mind is running a wire coat hanger through the tube with a cork or plug attached to the end so you can push/pull the other end to pop the plug in and out as needed.
Chord Pop That’s actually a pretty good idea, thanks. Probably wouldn’t have thought of it! In the end, I’ve ordered one of those hand-pump siphon things. They’re only cheap and a bit easier! Cheers.
ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS FILL HOSE. PUT END HOSE IN WATER LEAVE IN...TAP FILL OTHER END, WALK TAP END DOWN HILL (KINK IT OR THUMB OVER ENOUGH)...THEN RELEASE..
Man, you're smart and I'm dumb. How does it feel? I bet it feels great. You must have had a grin from ear to ear when you realized how much smarter you were than me. You were probably like "Yes! Another dumb person to add to my wall of personal victories." You've heard the phrase "Keep It Simple, Stupid". Well, i think you've proven that by me using a wine cork vs. blue collar logic/smarts, I'm not anywhere near the Pantheon of Plumbing Gods. Really trying to blow some extra smoke up your ass so you'll have an even better day and can brag to your friends. Is it working? Btw, using all caps was a fantastic promotional move. It's the perfect beacon to draw focus away from my video.
@@chordpop6259 You are not dumb..maybe just a little eccentric . Alot of commenters perhaps yes lol. The key is to fill hose with water anyhow then release with one end in water high and one lower. A siphon kicks in naturally without air.
@@UTUBE-MONITOR interesting.. tell me more about this "siphoning" thing. Will have to try some of these tips. So you're saying i should fill the hose with water, release one end in water and the other in a lower place. Nice! Will have to give that a try vs what i did in the video. Thanks
@@chordpop6259 Put end of hose in water. Turn on tap end until air out. Take tap end downhill (make sure hose end stays in water and tap end blocked or air will get back in). Release.
@@UTUBE-MONITOR nice. Hey, I actually made a video where I miserably tried to do this. Its on the World Wide Website called WWW.UA-cam.com . I should have you actually watch it and as a consultant of sorts let me know where I went wrong. If you go to UA-cam, type into the search bar "How to siphon without sucking" and find the video for the channel Chord_Pop. Give it a watch all the way through, and if you wouldn't mind, come back here to this thread and let me know exactly how I was out of step with your procedure. Be sure to watch what my results are toward the end. I'm thinking that I made a mistake somewhere, but I know I can count on you to specifically tell me what it was. Thanks.
It wasn't low enough. The end of the hose with the plug has to be lower than the other end or you would ruin the vacuum and it wouldn't work if you unplugged.
You went to all that trouble, but it was worth it! All these years later and your video is still helping people! Thank you!

Well.... I fell 😩😂😂😂😂🤦🏾♀️ this was the best video I’ve seen so far on how to drain my pond! Thanks!
Giving this a try AND giving you a thumbs up for the keeping the fall in the upload.
Uhmmmmmm... Nice tutorial...much appreciated...

Brilliant video, great demonstration, and highly entertaining too. Hope the ankle is ok!
This instruction was epic. I hope you create a saga of this. You sir have talent!
haha. thanks
Damn. I needed this laugh as my sump pump failed. I was so stressed out, and so not expecting to laugh. Thank you
And I fell TWO times, so you're winning.
yay!
I have to admit. This method results in the highest PSI out of all my attempts. Top marks, thanks.
Thank you very much. Draining our med size kiddy pool down our driveway now. Last year I was just draining it in our backyard. Flood.
You are what they call…. Da Man!
It worked! Thanks a million and hope your ankle is ok (3 years later).
Lmao! I love the kid's reaction when he saw you put your hands in the murky water, then you topped it off with the epic trip and fall.

prittykitty1985 Glad to be of help!
“Ewww why are u” SHHHHH; I felt that
Careful I broke my ankle that way. In a cast for 6 months. Great video. Best of luck...just trying to drain my pool🙃
it works... if you don’t have a wine cork use a tampon .
Great PSI! Totally worked for draining the bathtub water for watering the garden! (sorry abt ur ankle!)
Great video thank you. You saved me money on buying a water pump.
For me that video was painful on so many levels. But great simple solution to an annoying problem. So thanks.
Top man! It works perfectly. Thanks for sharing!
Success!!! Thank you from Texas!
😀👍👍. THANKS!!! I hope your ankle is okay! 😀

I was following your directions and idk what kind of voodoo you have going on but I fell too😂💀rolled my ankle🥺
This video was so helpful I love the kids in the background.

That fall was epic
You get a like just for leaving the trip in and not 'cutting' it out❤
Great! Thanks...just what I needed.
This helped so much. Thank you!
Thanks Nathan. Hope your ankle is ok.

I didnt even need to siphon anything i just stayed for the vibes of the video
Really good advice! Thank you.
Are you transferring water from lower surface ( stagnant side) to upper surface ( outside on road ) ?
No, i think i mentioned in the video, but perhaps too quickly, that the curb was lower than the bottom of the pit .
@@chordpop6259 Thanks.👍
I saw something very similar way back in the day on an episode of Johnny Quest. Instead of a hose and a wine cork Race used bamboo and a pebble.
Excellent ..... Very lay back .
we got a jackpot of brown water!!!
Thank you very much
Easier way turn the hose on kink it near the faucet with your hands unhook it then put it downhill

No siphon was sucked but man that turned ankle certainly sucked. Ouch
I have this problem but I don't have a downside area to release the water to.
Pearl Cross you don’t have a long enough hose. Unless you’re trying to drain the ocean with siphon
God bless you have kids
I have 3 dogs
Tripping me all over !
Funny and informative!
Instead of cutting a plug, a plastic bottle cap will seal the female end of the hose...
The fall was fantastic
You sound a little bit like Ryan Reynolds.
Phillip de Leon he does!! That's exactly what I thought!
This is how I used to siphon fish tanks
Thank you.
brown water 5:35
Lol, well done

SHHHHHH hehehehehe. Best part
Why didn’t you just unplug and slip it thru the fence? Problem solved and saved yourself a minor slip.
It wasn't low enough. The end of the hose with the plug has to be lower than the other end or you would ruin the vacuum and it wouldn't work if you unplugged.
More haste, less speed!
Dude sounds so DGAF lol
Did u fall lol lol lol
shhhhhhhhhhhh
😭😂🤣
Did not worked tried it 3 w
Sorry
Doesnt work
You didn't do it right
