How does the question relate to what she'd do as a judge? The only cases that would come before her are those prosecuters did prosecute.

Judicial nominees never answer these types of questions. For one does their opinion really matter? If she agreed that prosecuters should not prosecute certain cases, it doesn't mean she couldn't be impartial or decide cases regardless of her opinion.

As a practicing attorney for 42 years I am disgusted by this lady who wants to be a judge but refuses to say whether she believes prosecutors have the right to pick and choose which laws they will enforce and which they will totally ignore. That is obscene.

She'd lose her fu@$ing marbles before you got halfway through the 2nd question and would almost certainly hold you in contempt if you got to a 3rd and kept answering like this. Senator Kennedy was asking a perfectly legitimate question and Senator Durbin was simply being obtuse with his 'editorial comment'. Prioritising caseloads and ignoring whole swathes of law to make a political, social justice-oriented point are two entirely different things. The decisions by the DAs in question has resulted in a surge in crime in major US cities on a level that is unprecedented to the extent that a significant number of die-hard Democrat voters are seriously considering doing the unthinkable and voting for Republicans as they know they will be tough on crime. When thieves can ride through stores filling up black bin bags with goods they literally scoop in arms full off the shelves with no fear of retribution is a dereliction of legal duty that I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. The witness made her position completely clear by her complete non-answer to Senator Kennedy's questions - she clearly supports the stance of these social justice DAs and that is a disgrace in and of itself.

It's fabulous. I don't know when the origination was, but we are absolutely in a place where 'thank you for the question' means 'I will talk a LOT, without getting anywhere near an answer'. There seem to be no exceptions.
What I love is that attorneys and judges who demand plaintiffs, defendants and witness answer questions presented by them in their court, and play silly little games in avoiding a direct question that is asked of them

The chairman was correct in that if a defendant in a case has multiple charges-they can determine to dismiss some or all of the least charges. BUT, if a defendant has one charge then the prosecutor can not decide to just not prosecute that one charge-just because. I can add that (3) the upcoming months will see inflation increase further and possibly lead to a recession; that'll be true.

I'm aware that many find Senator Kennedy as a folksy good old boy, at times. Probably most of the time. But here is a polite, intelligent, thoughtful person who is not afraid to say what he believes and to rule that way without being offensive or thoughtless. I find him refreshing and honest. Run this guy for President. Will he win; probably not. But maybe Americans will find his candor and honesty refreshing. And it might lead to some of us expecting and requesting more from our candidates....including President of The United States.

@@jalapablocrypto They're taught to never answer with a direct yes or no, the issue is, they don't know how to elegantly answer a question with elaboration to where it doesn't seem evasive, the training has gotten worse. An example is, "do you represent x party", instead of answering yes or no, a politician typically should answer "I'm the (state their role) for x party", this way you kind of said yes to the question but notice how you never explicitly said that you represent the party. That's how it should be answered, nowadays they're trained so poorly that they'll start rattling off a bunch of nothing which makes it clear that they're not fit for the position. It exposes their agenda, it's not about serving the people, they're playing the fence so that they can always have a way of remaining in a position of power or influence no matter who their new boss or leaders are. That's what politics is about, it's not about governing a nation and serving the people, it's about serving the interest of self and their own party. My father was an elected official, I've seen how politics is played from a young age.
