      SO NEGATIVE 🤣 nah bro... Tictoc, the pandemic, the adpocalips.... everything tanked and YT is really not small creator friendly and the vlog type channels reach a plateau real quick. Real shame. Keep vlogging tho... showing builds, Yes you kinda put yourself outthere.... but that's the it thing. If you aren't going to keep bringing new things on many leave, car/bike vlogs are in this loophole. I totally get you almost 2 year stop... selfcare is important. I hope to see more of you, really love all you vids, weather is a vlog or bike build or revue... bring it.

    If motorcycle videos were dead on UA-cam, no told me. I hear everyone talking a lot about how short form content is taking over, but the longer I make my videos the more my audience likes them. I also prefer making long videos, so that doesn’t hurt either. I honestly don’t even look anymore but my average video is around 25-30 minutes long and I often release 45-1 hour long vids that get over 70% watch time.
    I dunno, I’m going on my 11th year of making motorcycle content and it’s more fun for me than it ever has been. I’m glad to see ya back :)

    • @ItsKatKam

      I don’t think motorcycle videos are dead on UA-cam at all!! It is such a special niche that I think should be promoted more!! Everybody’s audience is different and has been conditioned to that specific creator since they joined. I commend you for creating videos so long, it’s actually an inspiration! 💜 never stop what your doing my dude 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

      @shadetree surgeon is IMO the one of the few who has the personality and lifestyle that keeps things interesting and worth watching. Many people become so nitche to get sponsors and ads and views because it becomes all about the money when you do it full-time, that it looses the genuine feeling and the variety. For Shadetree to me the motorcycles are the supporting character and not the star of the show. Shadetree has a way of making himself not the star either. I watch his videos to see who I get the meet this week and what am I going to get. I've been around UA-cam for 10 years, many get a "crew" of 3 -5 people and the nitche content that I don't feel any hurry to watch because I know what it will be about and who will be on. Shadetree you may get a travel vlog, you may get poetry, you many get a life lesson, you many get a gut buster comedy, you may get a tear jerker, you may get a bike build, and for sure you will get to meet people that I wouldn't normally meet in real life. I don't think motovlogging is dead, it just changed for many. Back in the early days, very few were able to make it a job so the content was relatable and evolving, as a viewer you got to grow with the creator. Now people chase after the "dream" of doing it for a job and the content shows. It's like watching someone at work, I don't what to see someone working after I just got done working for 8 - 10 hours.

I’ve watched you grow your Audience with posting some really good at some really good videos. You have also shared very personal stuff in the past some of your challenges with what you have been going through. I’m hopeful that 2022 will be better for all of us. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year and it’s been a battle but it’s getting better I stay positive knowing that I’m going to beat this because there’s far more people that are worse off than me and watching some of your contact on UA-cam really helped me get through some of the tough times when I was in the hospital wondering about stuff so I wanna thank you as well. I always loved your channel Kat, and this video makes a lot of sense about the Motovlog space. Of course well always have the few vlog outliers getting some more views, but as a whole, the large percentage, UA-cam vlogs have become complacent and abundant, and I love vlogs. Ive been into motorcycles for 25-30 years, since I was a kid and that's probably the only reason I watch and enjoy all Vlogs... but yes they've been slowly dying for a while... just look at the overall views

    It's not dead as such, but it's best days are long over, especially for small and new channels. It's much harder to be found and grow than it once was for varying reasons. It's also this time of year the viewership builds up slowly again after christmas and new year, I always have a big did in views in December, slowly dropping before and rising after. Of course constancy of videos determine and much you get effected to a degree too.

    Glad you're back. I enjoy your moto vlogs, car videos and the videos where you show your real estate photography. That behind the scenes stuff for your job is interesting to me.
    I think there are a handful of Moto vloggers that have managed to hold on to an audience, but if you're not putting out 2 videos a week and have new bikes or interesting content it's hard to keep people engaged. Not everyone has the time, money, or access to dealerships to ride something new, do bike rebuilds, and give-a-ways, get sponsored, or do a patreon. If you're a youtuber that is doing videos just riding and talking I'm guessing your audience has probably going to move on.
    I personally don't watch any moto content on TikTok, and I have whittled down my UA-cam subscriptions dramatically in the last year or so as well. Too many people are doing similar or the same thing.
    The guys branching out into safety videos, how to ride videos, new bikes reviews, and gear etc... have kept my attention.
    Good luck, the field of play has changed.

    Motovlogging has had a weird few years but I do think it's premature to call it dead just yet, although admittedly I don't watch the big name American vloggers so I don't know how things are going in their part of the community. TikTok has certainly taken a lot of viewing time, especially among the young kids who make up a percentage of the viewers, but I think also the last two years nobody has done anything, meaning channels, both motovlog and regular daily vlog, haven't had anything to talk about, and combine that with various lockdowns were people weren't allowed to travel or ride and there's been far less scope for content creation. I do think, and strongly hope, that channels will start to pick back up this Summer and get back to an approximation of where they used to be, even if they have to throw in shorts and stuff into the mix too. We'll see I suppose. As a viewer, I'm youtube/insta only, tiktok doesn't interest me aside from occasional fads like the sea shanties. I'd love to get back into UA-cam creation though after several years of life getting in the way, but it will depend on how this year goes because I've got a lot of life admin I'm still waiting on.

    Honestly I feel like motovlogging started to die in 2019. I notice a lot of the big names like do it with Dan, chase and such really started to dramatically shift more from motovlogging. I think the major cause of the start of the down spiral was ad-pocalypse and then UA-cam cracking down on censorship.
    It's a shame too. I love watching/listening to you all just talk about whatever as I do things like drive. Motovlogging basically taught me and got me into riding motorcycles. I even wanted to open my own channel but by the time I was in a position to have all the equipment and stuff even all the big names are saying it wasn't really worth it anymore. I think the only reason why they even kept their channels going is they were pretty well established to where they could Branch out to different things.
    So I agree I hate to say it but motovlogging is dead and I will miss it

I mostly look for videos with high quality gopros and nice scenery but not really commentary anymore other than you and brian_636's hoodeats (favorite vloggers i've known for a while). The lack of commentary is probably because i'm one of the teens who has suffered by tiktok lowering my attention span too :'). I feel like a lot of motovloggers i liked and still look up to. Got side tracked. All of a sudden everybody wanted a gaming channel, every body wanted a different channel for different things in their life, in reality if i gravitate to a person (yes REGULAR person) on youtube is because all aspects of their personality and prefer seeing it all on one channel. I get we all got to make money somehow but the ppv aspect of things is a bit of a turn off. Thats why i love smaller youtubers because their videos feel so relatable, that being said there is big creators that still manage to make me feel connected to them and their content.

  • @N3PRO-Dave

    Just from my own personal viewing there are several reasons, motovlogging has changed not so much dead but changed to less motovlogging. All the "how to get views on UA-cam" all say to get views you have to find a niche. For me that is where I loose interest. Most of "do youtube full time" become niche, and it works well for them but personally I loose touch. Another part is as you have done, many have moved to discord for the community so there is less need for a video to connect with the core group. There are few like Do It With Dan who are always evolving and changing interest which is more my personality. I have lots of interest and the change. Motovlogging for me used to be (before they got big and niche) personal weekly updates, they make you feel like you were catching up with a friend at lunch. Now the personal stuff moved to DIscord and instagram and UA-cam is just a polished, scripted, content like I can get anywhere else. To me it lost the personal connection value.

    I think straight, traditional motovlogging can only take you so far. Bike reviews, builds and build give away's, how to's, product reviews, etc.. mixed in with traditional motovlogs is the way to go. People use UA-cam not just for entertainment but also as a knowledge base. All that said, I'm a tiny channel with a disabled ad sense account so take my words with a grain of salt. I'm not into the really short stuff (tick tok, shorts, reels) for much of anything other than a quick laugh. You can't really gain anything of worth in such a short effortless amount of time. A quick laugh now and then is good but that's it.

    Moto vlogging is dead because they all do the same thing. Like no growth. Same roads, same people they ride with and same places. I think they have to evolve and expand. You can't come out with the same 10 min video driving around your area and expect people not to get bored. These Moto vloggers need more engaging content. Like group rides, track days, travel to other states or even countries and do bike content there or do events with their fan bases. Alot of the bigger Moto vloggers have just been in their comfort zone for so long people except their super loyal subs are just bored.
    Also, I do agree TikTok has been a big UA-cam killer. People just watch a stupid dance, or an audio being played over a picture of your bike and are so satisfied. Content is just being consumed so fast they are done with you after a 20 sec clip.

    • @ItsKatKam
      @ItsKatKam  2 роки тому +1

      Completely agree with this!!! What sucks is (I’ve noticed) people are reluctant to change. Whenever creators try to make different content, it’s met with people who “didn’t like it” etc. I can see why it would be hard to change it up too.

    • @celiturbo
      @celiturbo 2 роки тому

      @@ItsKatKam But assuming a channels decline is viewer related and not the far more likely censorship or demonetization. Then they probably did change, doing the same things over and over again is rarely the problem, a lot of youtubers just become boring, like when you date someone new you have all the things in the world to talk about but a year after shacking up, every time you get home its just another round of "hey whats for dinner tonight". Ridding the same route over and over isn't nearly as much of a problem as small talk and repetitive banter is just not entertaining. People I do see doing well on youtube in general are the ones that think ahead with some planning and an agenda to keep it interesting and entertaining rather than just turning on a camera for the 500th time, coming up with whatever they can on the spot and then wondering why they stopped growing. Look at twitch, lots of popular steamers that just play the same game over and over, its not about the game obviously as there are thousands of others on there playing the same game that cant get 5 viewers. Its about the banter, but twitch has a serious advantage in real time interaction vs youtube is basically single sided so its a lot to get by on just talking here, very few people are that endlessly interesting to just listen to and you have to do it while being kneecapped by censorship on top of it. I started watching because you have a fun, happy, somewhat excited vibe. Just do the activities you want to do and take us along, the key thing there is do it rather than just thinking I'd like to do that but its a hassle/effort and being lazy instead, most of us cut ourselves short falling into that.

    I am a small-time motovloger, but in my perspective, the best posts (to create and watch) are the posts that provide useful information. Especially in the world of motorcycling. The videos that get the most views on my channel are reviews of bikes and products, how-tos, and skill sharing. Also, the increase in popularity in ADV biking has people's interest now. Let's face it, riding around on your bike talking about whatever topic comes to mind is pretty narcissistic (no offense) and people are just tuning out from that now (I know I am). Combined with a small clique of sponsored vloggers who literally reproduce the same content and review the same products on their channels... because they all get invited to the same coordinated events - it just creates stale content.

    I think the way to succeed with youtube is to be consistent, that is in my opinion in favor of the algorhytm. So if you`re not consistent, you`re less likely to be in the 'recommended' list.
    But that`s my 2cents, how i see it :-)
    I have multiple channels. 2 similar ones, and the more consistent i am, the more my videos will get recommended to others :-)
