- Today I am sharing with you my delicious Vegan, Oil-Free, Low Fat cheese sauce with a twist. Oh yeah, the best just got better (well it's the best to me LOL). It's now even lower in fat and calories WITHOUT having to use white beans. Oh yeah, this. is awesome and you're going to want to make sure you watch to the end because I'm sharing one of my favorite Vegan, Plant-based EASY meals where I use the low-fat, oil-free cheese sauce. @@pmgandco6322 I remembered that I happen to have that Cheese sauce powder by Dillon in my pantry and realized it's essentially the same ingredients except for the miso, broth and cashew, it makes the sauce very easy to make using that mix. I can adjust the salt and make it lower sodium by using water instead of broth and reducing the miso.

I had recently purchased your new 10 min or Less recipes and sauces books and thought potato flakes was a game changer but pairing with the cashew powder is brilliant. I am struggling lately to stay compliant with eating whole plant based (I'm always vegan but if work is kicking my butt as it is now, I need simple recipes or it's back to process vegan eats). Thank you for making this less complicated than it needs to be!

TIA!!! This is SOOO good!!!!! I just made my first batch today. I cannot believe how good it is. No, it doesn't taste like (greasy, gloopy) melted cheddar, but that is a good thing. It DOES very closely resemble Kraft mac n cheese cheese sauce, only better!! I could go on and on about how delicious and umami and "light" this tastes!! It is going over gently boiled potato half moon slices tonight for a faux gratin potato dish!!! Thank you!!!!!

Ok Tia I just made your original cashew cheese sauce. Made a few substitutions but the base is your recipe. So...Omg. I will never go back to eating real cheese. The consistency is perfect. The flavor even better. Made nachos. Yum! I'm eating mostly vegan foods now. It was hard to stop eating. I made 1 b4 that I hated so I gave yours a try. So thrilled that I did. Any substitutes for nutritional yeast, which I do not care for?
Really appreciate the rice recipe as well. So many times I find I make up a batch of cheez sauce and it’s too much so I end up being very tempted to eat store bought tortilla chips with it. So defeating. I have to plan better so I have healthy recipes to incorporate the whole batch of sauce.

I've tried several other cheese sauce recipes and have been disappointed. This recipe however is fabulous! I questioned the smoked paprika but I think that's why I like this! So easy too!
For those of us whom can't eat or do not like nuts, the bean version - or - cauliflower (to really lower the calorie content) works well.

Potato flakes instead of boiling potatoes is a game changer!
Just made this....omitted the miso paste as I didn't have any and substituted oat meal for mashed potato flakes, again didn't have. Is really good but a bit thick which can be fixed. Thanks for sharing a great recipe.
Love your idea of using cashew powder! I usually use silken tofu in place of cashews but I like that this option is also low-fat. 🙌

Sorry if I missed it, but was it mentioned exactly how much potato flakes to use? I couldn't tell if that was a cup or a half cup in the video. Also, until my order of pb2 gets here can I still make this using real potatoes? How would I sub that in? Thank you!

I am so excited to try this cashew powder. I sometimes add a couple spoonfuls of jar salsa to the cheese sauce while its in the vitamix and it tastes just like nacho cheese. 🤗

😲apparently i am so very late to the party! my mind is blown. i did not know that pb2 has cashew powder. i attempted to make cheese sauce about 5 years ago. it did not turn out well. i will try this for sure! thanks for the recipe.
Someone may have asked this before but i couldn't find it in the comments...how long will this last in the fridge? Especially if you only use a couple teaspoons now and then, I wasn't sure how long it would keep. Thanks!
Just made your broccoli,rice and cheese sauce. So good! I did have to add water to instant pot because it started to burn. I added 1 cup water but I think 1/2 cup would work too

I've never seen the cashew powder, that is awesome!! I usually use oatmeal in place of the nuts but this would definitely be an option. I LOVE your recipe. I've been using it since the summer, it's been my go to cheddar sauce recipe. Have some in the fridge now. Yummy 😋

Do people ever ask you what is your fat source? I'm being asked that almost as often a what's your protein source. It's really making me crazy. When I say nuts, seeds, avocado... I'm always told that's not enough, that I need olive oil. Wait, what?
No I’ve never gotten that one. Seems pretty obvious to me, but people these days 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😂 I get it.
Tidbit; I just learned that chickpeas have 14-17% of calories from fat. Of course, Oats have 14%.

If using frozen I don’t usually, but if raw yes I’d add whatever instant pot recommends

I listened through about 3 times did I miss it somewhere the amount of 🥔 flakes? If that was the same measure cup, it looked like 1/2 cup but couldn’t see if it was full.

I love the PB2 cashew powder!! I used vegetable better than bullion in a cup of hot water instead of broth. I didn’t have turmeric so I sub’b tsp of curry powder and it turned out great! Love your channel, I’m new to this lifestyle and your guidance it’s very helpful :)
