Looking at the RX 7900 XT, but want to ensure the CPU doesn’t bottleneck performance. Would be willing to make a CPU upgrade as well.
Hi Jason, I’m looking forward to build a pc with a 4070 super around this Prime Day/Black Friday. I would like to go with an Intel cpu like a 13600K since my main objective is video editing (also gaming), but with these days problems I’m not sure. Would you recommend waiting for Black Friday and see if Intel gets their problem fixed by then? Or just go with a 7600x sacrificing a lot of video editing performance? Thanks!
Hey Jason. Great video again. I just built a new PC, with a 7600x in it. I am using the integrated graphics for now. Should I pull the trigger on a 7800XT or 7900GRE, if there is a good deal, or would you wait for the next gen? I also was looking at the RTX4070 Super, but the 12GB is making me wonder. Is waiting worth it? Will the new gen gain be worth the extra wait? Thanks again.
Slowly upgrading my system. Gpu will be last. Im gonna wait for the 7900xtx to drop to around $500. But for now ill going from a 6700k cpu to a 7950x. My current card is a 1060 6gb.

Currently building my first PC as i watch this video. RX6600 and a Ryzen 5 5600 as I was under a budget but with a b550 I plan to upgrade over time as funds become available. Thanks for all the advice Jason, love your channel!

Hi @PCBuilderChannel, I have a cheap b450 system, with A580 and rx5500. Id like to upgrade to 240hz 1440p. Would you go with a whole new zen 4 system or 5700x3d?
You could drop in a Ryzen 5700X3D but remember the B450 is limited to PCIE gen 4 so you'll want to avoid any GPU that only uses half the connector (PCIE x8). IMO I think selling the old build and starting over with a new build is likely a better option. Especially with Prime Day next week. Hope that helps.
If I'm looking to play current and future singleplayer games at 1440p with 144fps minimum and high settings is the 7900xt enough or should I spend an extra 200$ for a 7900xtx?
I have a conundrum to solve: I want to sell my 4090 before the date of the 5090 is announced to get a good price to sell my 4090 to buy the 5090. But in the meantime I have to have a "transition card". What should I get?
Depends on the rest of your system! Check out our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video, that might help you out. The problem is if you have a CPU I would normally pair with a 4090 a lot of GPUs will likely bottleneck it
@@PCBuilderChannel I have a 7800X3D. So right now basically the best gaming system you can get. It's a tricky one. Also because I am not sure when I exactly will sell my 4090 for the best price possible.
@@Hexenkind1 how about you get a gtx 1070 for 70 dollars, its good enough for every game, if you can live with low settings for a bit. But still a great card!
I would not swll the 4090 until december or very early january or on the release week of the 5090. Im sure the 4090 will sell for a lot of money when the 5090 releases.
Will there be a huge preformance gap between the 4080 super and 5080? I want to build my pc soon, but i dont know if i should wait, probably longer if its only founder edition that will be released at start.
All we know is the leaked specs, which might change or not even be correct. Based on that very incomplete picture, I'm expecting about the same performance as the RTX 4090 D from the 5080 in rasterization, with perhaps a more significant uplift in ray tracing. But that's just a guess. It really seems like a 70 series card. It will outperform the 4080 Super for sure, but how much will it cost? Also, I expect they will release all versions of the 5080, not just the founders.
I would build the 4080 super pc now and if you need the extra power of the 5080 then sell the 4080 super down the line but of course it depends on the cost of the 5080.
My pc is my profile picture with my first all white high end build. I have the gigabyte aero oc 4090/ 7800x3d/ 64 gigs ddr5 cl30 latency 6,000mhz in the lian li o11 vision. I would say buy the gigabyte 4090 for 1,500 dollars and I havent had any problems with my 4090.
I dont like how the RTX 3060 jumped in price by abt 20$ (to 285$) recently. I may consider the RX 6700 & 6750XT cards instead, per your recommendation I heard some say the RTX 4060 is the new "nope" 3050 and should be 200, 250$ instead
$469 for a RX 7800 XT are XfX Speedster SWFT 210 core, and Asrock Challenger OC while $529 for a RX 7900 GRE there is only one gpu an Asrock Challenger OC both are 1440p and 16gb vram.
is it worth upgrading to the 7900xt if my CPU is only going to be a 7600x or 7700x? I can afford to get the 7900xt instead of the GRE or 4070S but am not willing to pay for a 7800x3d
I've not watched one of your videos in a little while, I just wanted to comment that you are looking really good Jason. You look really well. Thanks for the video.
Hey thank you! I'd like to think its because I've been working out but its probably mostly the new 4k camera ( ; We switched to a new one over the summer and we are very happy with it!
I guess I did alright in my Deal then. I got my RX7800 XT for $677.32 CND or 498.78 USD from a local computer chain. I'm thrilled with the Boost. I bought the Asus dual Happy with it ..
I am using a Quadro RTX 4000. Would you recommend the 7900 XT or 7900 XTX for video editing and some gaming? I have the Ryzen 9 7900x cpu and 64gb of ddr5 ram.
The only place where Nvidia still has an advantage is Blender, so if that's some thing you use I'd consider 4070 ti super, 4080 super, or 4090. But for video editing the AMD cards are just as good and actually better for DaVinci. Either 7900XT or 7900XTX are good, I use 7900XT for basic editing. If you do professional level I'd go 7900XTX.
@@PCBuilderChannel so far so good had a mini vacation gearing up to go back to work. It’s getting down to the last months for my retirement build. I need to get off my butt and donate to the channel because I know you’re gonna come up with some crazy good ideals for my system.
Got my Zotac Amp Holo Black 4070 TI Super at Newegg open box (everything was in the box and still had the plastic protection films on it) for $659 so I'm done with all this GPU research for another few years! Too bad their lighting software sucks ass.
I just picked up (oct 2024) a used MSI 2070 Super for 170 cdn about 125 usd. Was this a good deal? The guy says it was never mined and shared pictures of it in his personal rig but who knows. Its a upgrade from vega 7 integrated. Im happy but not sure if i payed too much or not. So far runs great in all benchmarks and my games.
aaaah i'm just comfortable gaming on my Asus TUF RTX 4070 Ti Super OC, got that big ass gpu for $600, it was used for 1 month, still have the warranty of the retailer, and former owner gave me the voucher of the purchase, No coil whine, it overclocks good enough, then when i undervolted+overclocked it, maaaaan it works marvellously ...... why he sold it to me that cheap? the gpu is totally pristine he just wanted to buy an RTX 4080 super face-green-smiling, thanks to that people and their stupid ludopathy! i bet not even with the upcoming Prime Day, or Black Friday sales i could get that same gpu for that cheap
question so im fixing to build a new pc by the end of the month if not the 2nd week of November I can afford either the 4070 ti super or the 7900 xt. I dont care about ray tracing one single bit my main 2 things im worried about is that Im i gonna be able to stream/record while playing and are the drivers good for the 7900 xt?
Look at comparisons of the 4070 ti super vs the 7900xt in non ray traced gameplay and streaming capabilities so you can make an informed decision but I would go with the 4070 ti super.
Always looking for ways to improve but I'm going to be honest there's just too many cards for us to cover that with our 3 person 3 cat team. I'd identify the cards you are most interested in then research their particular power draw
Nice choice. I've tried the 4080 and 7900 XTX, and honestly if you don't need a GPU for work, the cost savings and extra VRAM with the XTX are nice to have if you find a deal.
@@PCBuilderChannelRyzen 5 5600G. Probably the max GPU for that small cache. It's going into an existing build for my in-laws that is serving them well, but we like to show them games sometimes

Look at recent comparisons of the 4070 ti vs the 4070 ti super at 1440p to see the performance difference. I would personally always go for the higher end card the 4070 ti super so I dont have to upgrade for a longer time.

I think you and I are building the same PC right now! I picked up the 7800x3d at my local Walmart somehow, and I’m also watching the 7900XT and XTX prices!
My thinking was it was helpful for consistency so you can see the difference per tiers. We're still evolving the new format for this, we'll consider adding 4k for next time

How do sales taxes work in the US? In the UK (and rest of Europe) tax is added PRIOR to the RRP price. In the US if a GPU is listed as $500, how much will it be after taxes? Does it depend on state sales taxes. Are there any federal sales taxes? Please explain haha. I want to compare with UK prices.
I want to share my experience with amazon in Austria.👎👎👎 On last prime day I bought an AOC monitor. At least I thought so. Soon, the delivery company said that the address is not OK and that package can't be delivered. I went then chasing my tail, trying to correct the address. Registering on their website, bla bla. Impossible. Obviously it was some gimmick by someone. Maybe because I did not become a prime member. Anyway, I am done with buying pc parts from Amazon.👎
Hoping that RTX 40 series prices will drop when RTX 50 series is released, but I'm not holding my breath. Feels like Nvidia will still control the supply of GPUs to keep prices and profits high for them.
My dudes and dudettes, just get a used GPU. There's plenty good Nvidia RTX 3000 series and AMD RX 6000 series at 2/3 (sometimes 1/2) of the price of equivalent newer models. Look at the usual places where you get second hand hardware.
Used is definitely an option, however remember you get a full warranty with new cards, you get the game bundle if you buy the AMD 7600 XT or higher, and you can return it to the retailer. But for those looking under $150, I think it is likely the best option.
I bought a 7900xtx tuf oc over 1.5 years ago. Was like 820ish after tax. Only problem I've had in some games if you don't turn down some of the setting it'll say 3d accelerator failed to start and it'll freeze for a bit.
I'll just wait a couple months more to see what the new GPUs will bring. Not gonna spend that much on a 7900 XTX when the 8800 XT might be 30-40 % cheaper at a similar performance level.

I may consider the RX 6700 & 6750XT cards instead, per your recommendation
I heard some say the RTX 4060 is the new "nope" 3050 and should be 200, 250$ instead
$469 for a RX 7800 XT are XfX Speedster SWFT 210 core, and Asrock Challenger OC while $529 for a RX 7900 GRE there is only one gpu an Asrock Challenger OC both are 1440p and 16gb vram.
Upgrade my son PC from 1050TI 4GB paired with i5 2500k to used 1070TI 8GB paired with i7 8700k he is so happy.
I am thinking of upgrading from 2060 super to 4070 super. I have ryzen 7 5800x. Is it a good pair ? 🤘🏻😅
You'll have a bottleneck in CPU intensive titles, but should be fine for most GPU bound games. Could always grab a 5700X3D in the future too.
@@PCBuilderChannel thank youu !!
is it worth upgrading to the 7900xt if my CPU is only going to be a 7600x or 7700x? I can afford to get the 7900xt instead of the GRE or 4070S but am not willing to pay for a 7800x3d
If gaming 4k resolution yeah 7600x won't be a bottleneck
@@edwinlawrence6763 what about 1440p?
I've not watched one of your videos in a little while, I just wanted to comment that you are looking really good Jason. You look really well. Thanks for the video.
Hey thank you! I'd like to think its because I've been working out but its probably mostly the new 4k camera ( ;
We switched to a new one over the summer and we are very happy with it!
7900XT at 650$... can't beat that...
I guess I did alright in my Deal then. I got my RX7800 XT for $677.32 CND or 498.78 USD from a local computer chain. I'm thrilled with the Boost. I bought the Asus dual Happy with it ..
Nice!! What did you pair it with?
I imagine october card is gonna be same as september one lol.
Please make best cpu prices of October
We sure will! We'll be doing special sales coverage all week which will definitely include CPUs, and our CPU prices video will come soon after
@@PCBuilderChannel thank you , you'all doing a great job and I love this channel ✨keep it up !!!
Thank you!
I wait for the new AMD midlevel cards. Performance of a 4070ti for maybe 500€
Amazon is selling the RX 6800 for US$ 360
I am using a Quadro RTX 4000.
Good morning Jason, crew, and Kitties !!
Good morning William! How' your weekend going?
@@PCBuilderChannel so far so good had a mini vacation gearing up to go back to work. It’s getting down to the last months for my retirement build. I need to get off my butt and donate to the channel because I know you’re gonna come up with some crazy good ideals for my system.
Got my Zotac Amp Holo Black 4070 TI Super at Newegg open box (everything was in the box and still had the plastic protection films on it) for $659 so I'm done with all this GPU research for another few years! Too bad their lighting software sucks ass.
Nice! What did you pair that with?
What are the rest of your specs and will you upgrade anything else in your pc?
Would be cool if you could do a video on the most performance for the lowest power draw.
Going to be honest that would be a ton of work and possibly beyond our 3 person 3 cat team. But I'll keep thinking of ways to do it
@@PCBuilderChannel Alright, appreciate the thought though!
Any advice for new GPU for 1080p gaming, RX 7600, RX 6650 or RX 6700 10gb even is 4 years old card ?
Check out our Best under $300 or $200 GPU recommendations!
Even ex mining cards are usually ok. If you're happy with it thats the important thing!
@@PCBuilderChannel Thanks!
aaaah i'm just comfortable gaming on my Asus TUF RTX 4070 Ti Super OC, got that big ass gpu for $600, it was used for 1 month, still have the warranty of the retailer, and former owner gave me the voucher of the purchase, No coil whine, it overclocks good enough, then when i undervolted+overclocked it, maaaaan it works marvellously ...... why he sold it to me that cheap? the gpu is totally pristine he just wanted to buy an RTX 4080 super face-green-smiling, thanks to that people and their stupid ludopathy! i bet not even with the upcoming Prime Day, or Black Friday sales i could get that same gpu for that cheap
Where is 6800xt i would get that one
Is AMD cancelling high-end forever or just for the 8000 series?
Just the 8000 series. We actually went over this more in our latest Q&A video so you can check that out
@@PCBuilderChannel Thank you dude, will have a look - must have missed that one! Love your videos, keep it up! 👍
Thank you. RX 7700 inbound!
Woot! What are you pairing it with?
@@PCBuilderChannel 5600x. Jumping up from my 3060TI. Really appreciate the response and your videos.
great video, thanks!, which are the hot dates coming? prime day 8/9? and black friday october 30? =)
and if it was for you, and you need to buy a NVIDIA Card for the 7800x3d, which one you would go?
Fantastech starts on the 7th, Prime Day is the 8th and 9th. Black Friday November 29t but those sales often start showing up in October
Hop over to our 7800X3D build guide! Its going to depend on your budget obviously but I like the 4070 ti super
question so im fixing to build a new pc by the end of the month if not the 2nd week of November
I can afford either the 4070 ti super or the 7900 xt. I dont care about ray tracing one single bit my main 2 things im worried about is that Im i gonna be able to stream/record while playing and are the drivers good for the 7900 xt?
OMG I JUST GOT HANDS ON A RYZEN 7 7800X3D FOR 400 DOLLARS
Look at comparisons of the 4070 ti super vs the 7900xt in non ray traced gameplay and streaming capabilities so you can make an informed decision but I would go with the 4070 ti super.
also give us all the power info that the cards us because u might not care but i do.
electricity in my country is very expansieve !
Always looking for ways to improve but I'm going to be honest there's just too many cards for us to cover that with our 3 person 3 cat team. I'd identify the cards you are most interested in then research their particular power draw
Anyone here with Asrock Challenger rx 7800 xt?
Long term experience? Temperatures? (getting 100 degree hotspot temps in a high airflow case)
Damn that sucks.
i wanted a 4090 but i guess them discontinuing the card sells me on the 7900xtx
Nice choice. I've tried the 4080 and 7900 XTX, and honestly if you don't need a GPU for work, the cost savings and extra VRAM with the XTX are nice to have if you find a deal.
They will be around for a while (lots of them in the pipeline) but 7900XTX is plenty strong
Just got the 5700xt for $120 from eBay, it really has dropped in price recently
Nice! What are you pairing that with?
@@PCBuilderChannelRyzen 5 5600G. Probably the max GPU for that small cache. It's going into an existing build for my in-laws that is serving them well, but we like to show them games sometimes
Question to anyone that can answer. I have a Ryzen 7 7700x with an ASUS dual oc 4070. I’m thinking of getting a 4070 ti super, is it even worth upgrading to that or no? I only play at 1440p. Thanks
Look at comparisons videos of the 4070 ti vs the 4070 ti super. I would personally buy the 4070 ti super so I dont have to upgrade for longer.
Look at recent comparisons of the 4070 ti vs the 4070 ti super at 1440p to see the performance difference. I would personally always go for the higher end card the 4070 ti super so I dont have to upgrade for a longer time.
The $300 GPUs like the 6700 XT don't seem worth buying with the 7700 XT at 350
If you have $350, that is definitely the one I'd buy. But I know for some they can't stretch another $50-70.
just finished building my first computer yesterday, used advice from your channel and i love it, things a beast. thanks

Should I sell my 4080 super master and wait for a 5090?
That's totally up to you obviously, but would this leave you without a gaming pc? Factor in the value of your time too
@@PCBuilderChannel Great point. Thank you!! I should be done with my build next month. 🎉🎉
If you need or want the extra power of the 5090 first wait for the 3rd party benchmarks and the price. Then if you want the extra power of the 5090 you can sell the 4080 super.
4090 price is going to the Moon.🚀🚀🚀🚀
haha yep
Already got my GPU. The 6750XT from Power Color.
Nice card! Anything you'll be looking to pick up over the sales?
Welcome to the 6750 club 😎
Cool to see it still has a market
@@PCBuilderChannel Other things I picked up: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black, G.Skill 32 GB DDR4 CL 16 for like $52.00, Gigabyte GA-Z77P-D3 motherboard for $47.00 from aliexpress and paired that with a 3770K for $41.00....which will become a windows XP build for retro gaming. Asrock Z170 Formula OC motherboard for $98.00 and a 7700k for $84...I will sell my Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 with the 4770k to offset the cost of the Z170 motherboard and cpu. I spent about $1000 but will be able to build two systems. One for modern gaming and the other for retro gaming.
I’ve had the 6750 XT for almost two years now, and it’s hard to believe it’s still on the market.
My 7800X3D arrived today. My wallet is so ready for prime day. Hope I get some decent deals on the other components.
Wooot! What are you looking for over the sales?
@@PCBuilderChannel ikr :D So I'm hoping I can get some savings on a b650M, 420aio, Gen 4 nvme, DDR5 32gb (2x16gb) 6000hz expo, 850 psu. As for gpu's I am hoping to get a deal on a 7900 XT or XTX. Got myself a Thermaltake Tower 300 snow edition case an 7800x3d ready to go.
Good deal, these CPUs are getting harder to find since AMD wants to sell the next Gen X3D.
I think you and I are building the same PC right now! I picked up the 7800x3d at my local Walmart somehow, and I’m also watching the 7900XT and XTX prices!
why do you show 1440p fps for 4k option instead of 4k fps ?
My thinking was it was helpful for consistency so you can see the difference per tiers. We're still evolving the new format for this, we'll consider adding 4k for next time
Hmmmm ... an PS5 Pro or 4070 ti super 🤔
PCMR
I would definitely get the 4070 ti super over the ps5 pro. No question.
hello jason, may i know your daily driver pc specs.

Yes I suspect they will keep those prices high as long as they can
Hi Jason!
Hello! Hope you enjoy!
@@PCBuilderChannel Sure did!
I'm still sticking with my A770. Works great at 1440p 144hz and I see no reason to upgrade.
Ewwww..
RT is just garbage on AMD GPU's right now. Look at the BM Wukong Benchmarks, a bloody 4060 (non ti) does better than the 7900xtx.
All still very overpriced, Jason, I think I'm just gonna resort to stealing one.
This is all current pricing
Yep! With our prediction on which ones we think will go on sale so you can be ready next week to make the best decisions for you
I bought a 7900xtx tuf oc over 1.5 years ago. Was like 820ish after tax. Only problem I've had in some games if you don't turn down some of the setting it'll say 3d accelerator failed to start and it'll freeze for a bit.
Sale what sale? I cannot recall any gpu sales on any of those days or even on black friday time.
Everything is 1440p average fps :)
Good time to prep for blackwell gpus, god knows those monsters are gonna need higher tier stuff.
Wait. I'm still rocking a 1660 super 6GB.
Are you feeling an upgrade or happy where you are at?
7600xt ,4060,4060ti 16 and 8 gb are stupid nowhere to be cards at this prices
I'll just wait a couple months more to see what the new GPUs will bring. Not gonna spend that much on a 7900 XTX when the 8800 XT might be 30-40 % cheaper at a similar performance level.
Inacreditável o preço da 4090.
Yes with the 4090 ending production, that price is only going up.
I'm looking at the ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7600 XT OC Edition 16GB
