Put a warm wet washcloth on the image. Let it sit for 5 minutes or so. Much easier to get that backing off that way

What exactly is the right kind of paper to use because I've been using regular paper in my printer but seems kinda too thin

don't be anxious, and next time cover your picture with packing tape and then sit in a plate of warm water for five to six minutes and then take it out and rub it not so vigorously but like you are rubbing a babies bottom and you will get it right, practice makes perfect so don't you dare give up!!!
