  • Let me explain how we do things a little different around here!
I make my own patterns and patterns for others ALL the time, but don’t always start with a sloper, and RARELY draft it from scratch.
Why? Because that is a hard place to start in my opinion!
Don’t get me wrong, slopers and blocks are very helpful and important, but there is more that one way to get a sloper to fit your body!
We will also be going live with ‪@charlotta_patterncuttingschool‬ monthly to dive deep into more pattern chat subjects! Stay tuned for the last Thursday of the month for our live sessions!

This video is: (1) clickbait and (2) an ad for 3 online "products" that cost money. 😑😴

Sorry you feel that way. This is just me sharing an opinion and offering a different option. I don't mention it in this video, but I also share in many of my other videos that you can also use patterns you already have or copy off a garment to start with as a sloper. This is to explain how I teach patternmaking differently and that you can try it out for Free if you want to learn more. 💚

Why does some people Think that everything should be given for free, of cause classes cost money - life cost, learning new skills cost, can’t imagine those who wants everything for free - works for no pay themselves

Somewhat disconcerting that your top didn't fit properly

I guess I should have put a disclaimer that I didn't make my top I am wearing in this video, nor do I claim that it fits me perfectly. I bought that shirt at a consignment shop in Prague and as the saying goes that "the cobblers children don't have shoes", I rarely have time to make my own clothes perfectly. I also do my best to batch these videos so I can get the information out to people who might find it helpful, so as I try to think of everything to serve my followers, I may forego my own clothes fitting perfectly. If you don't find my content helpful, you are free to keep moving along. A lot of people think that drafting a sloper is the ONLY way to learn pattern making and therefore give up on it altogether. I'm just hoping to help encourage those who have felt they could never learn by sharing a different perspective. 💚

Just wanted to say, I came across your video while searching for how to make my own patterns. Although I'm not in the market for this right now, I can absolutely see the value in having a teacher make a sloper for me so that I can fast track to another aspect of pattern making. You're providing a valuable service to people by taking out some of the leg work and it's a shame more people in this world are not aware of the option to scroll on past something if they don't like or agree with it. There is dignity in making money as a creative person, and when people choose to criticize that and your blouse instead of keeping their negativity to themselves, it is more of a reflection on them than on you and your work.

When I learn PM 1993 I learn to take and draft from body measurements,
When I did continue pattern making I was taught with quarter scale, and we dive right in, I preferred this method, over taking body,
    measurements and drafting,
At the end we got pre drafted sloper to adjust and fit out body’s,

This is so great! I gravitated to the "learn how it works first" method and I have found it helps build confidence and people have more fun. So happy you have had that experience also! Are you working on anything now? I found that the teachings of Shingo Sato is was a really fun way to push your pattern learning even further. 💚

I am not working on anything personal now but i have projects I want to start,
I do custom clothes for individual,
I use a basic pattern and just adjust to there measurements,
And it works, 90 % of the times I don’t make a sample,
I want to try Shingo sato (one day) for now I am using pattern magic by tomoko nakamichi

I made pattern drafting using my own measurements but it turned out awful.. I did so many pattern drafts but unfortunately, nothing fits me as I look petite so it's hard to come up with an accurate pattern, and trust me it's so frustrating. what to do?

This is unfortunately a common story I hear. I teach fitting and pattern drafting in a different way. We learn how to take a pattern that is close to your sizing and learn methods for how to make adjustments to fit. I have lots of content on here which is free giving tips on how to do this. I also have a membership, Pattern Making Academy, which also helps you with this method. My private community, The Pattern Place, where I offer fitting advice and support in a group setting. This is currently closed for enrollment, but if you are interested in learning more about it, you can email us at hello@creativecostumeacademy.com I have helped many in your situation and it is because of similar stories like yours that I off the help that I do. Hope this helps! 💚

I guess you are not really getting the point. I am saying that there are other ways to learn about how to make patterns than starting by drafting a sloper. I feel that is a hard place to start and most people start there. I’ve had thousands of students tell me that my method is less intimidating and more fun to learn. 💚
