- So, what fountain pen inks did I use this year? More specifically, how many inks did I use? In this video I count what I used, and also go over the new inks I acquired. This year was a heavy ink usage year for me. Watch the video and find out how heavy!
You can dilute heavy sheeners to knock down the sheen, did to my fill of Lamy Dark Lilac 24.
Beautiful ink book and wonderful collection! I am discovering I prefer inks over pens also. There is just so much joy in the colours and the inks look different on different papers so it is never boring. It appeals more to my creativity than having a lot of pretty pens in a drawer.

I have a little bit of a crush on Colorverse inks. The pure nerdery totally appeals to me. Add to that their unique colors.
I love this concept of revisiting your inks and the pens you inked them in. I have a pen and ink log very similar to yours and I’ve found it such a huge help to know which combos play the best together. I’m with you on inks over pens.

When it comes to Ferris Wheel Press inks I tend to choose the lighter coloured ones, as when FWP does saturated they really go for it, and I don’t enjoy sheening inks. But try not to go too light, like I have on a couple. Definitely Peahy, for example, is legible only in fat wet nibs, so not what I’d call a robust or useful ink. Peter Moss and Moss Park Green are gorgeous, as is Storied Blue. And Lady Rose is a pale but gorgeous classic.
I get you on the pure nerdery of Colorverse inks. They make me feel my inner engineer!
I wish I had the discipline to be this organized, haha. What a stunning array of dusty shades! Brown Grey, Potato of Spring, Sailor 280 and the Yuramekus are practically screaming at me (but a gentle, pleasant screaming). I definitely hear you on the more pens vs. more inks question, I feel like it's easier to get a certain feeling or personality across with ink than with nib. Thank you for the lovely showcase! 🖤
Yeah, Brown Grey has your name all over it. Come Spring I’ll send you some samples. For now, it’s too damn cold to move inks via mail. Maggie is holding her pee, refusing to go outside.
The more organized I am, the more opportunities I have to play with pens and paper. So I have a Pen Records Book, an Ink Records Book, and swatch books all just for funzies, really. The spreadsheet is the powerhouse, as I can pull statistics. And completely nerd out!
I love love love this. I was considering keeping a log in my 2023 weeks - inks obtained, inks used. This is an inspiration. I wish I would’ve gotten a bottle of INKEBARA Brown Grey instead of the sample. *shakes fist* thanks for sharing 😊
Most of the heavy lifting was done by my spreadsheet, which I only made this year. I entered the raw data from my stored Inky Fingers currently inked books, and now can pull statistics whenever I want. Best use of Mac Numbers yet!

Thank you! I’ve never done a full flip through of the entire Ink Records Book as I didn’t think that would interest anybody. Maybe in the new year, when I run out of fresh ideas for videos.
