+George Anthony Thanks for your kind feedback. I agree there's alot of videos out there that waste too much time and make boring videos. Short and to the point is my style. Glad you found it helpful.
Thank you for taking the extra effort in disassembling the sealed actuator. Some of us like to see that level of detail instead of just swapping out a part. Regards
If you remove the Lock Rod, can you still open the car from inside pulling on the corresponding cables? I need to replace a door lock on one car, since replacing the damaged door, and not quite sure if I will put back that Lock Rod immediately (that part of the project looks the most complicated to me, that is was is done @ 7:15). Thank you for this great and informative film.
This video has a VR element to it; every time at 4:19 that clang and small jolt to the camera make me feel like I've been hit in the head myself. I can't tell what actually hits the camera or exactly what might be moved off-camera when you latch the actuator with the screwdriver, but it even seems like the part is trying to keep you from "breaking in" to it. It must just be timing and coincidence. Great job on playing through it, you're a better presenter than I would be.
another good video, it's scary to me how much you know about/understand the inner workings of your cars and I mean that in a good way, you've gotta be an engineer I'm very thankful that I have car similar to yours so I can glean so much knowledge and be inspired to do my own repairs and cool mods

+speedkar99 hey man, these "how does it work" videos are definitely appreciated, I have a 99 Camry V4, most of the mods I did to it are actually inspired by stuff I saw on your channel lol for example, the LED logo lights, converting all the interior lights to LEDs, installed heated seats, etc.... you know what, I should do a quick video to show you the stuff I did, give me a few weeks to get the car washed and put something together and I'll upload a video lol
I just want to thank you... this was such a great video, replacing my lock actuator was only slightly different than what you had, but if it wasn't for this video I would have been in a world of hurt... THANK YOU THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!

Amazing. I've torn into my Corolla door today investigating a 6 years old central locking problem. Got into the actuator motor on my own before I found this video (2002 NZ Corolla has a screw, no dremel required) but still a very helpful teardown & commentary to watch. Gearing looks okay in mine but the motor just seems weak. A spritz of contact cleaner made it look shiny again but not much else lol. Mine's a bit different from yours so wish me luck putting the rest of the door back together now :-)
Wow I watch the whole video amazing .. congratulations your very knowledgeable. Can you help me..? I got a drivers side door replaced on a Mazda 2 14 now the car won’t lock. Took it to get fix thinking it was not well balanced but after spending 200 plus parts.. door still won’t lock .. what could be wrong?? Thanks
Is there a way to just disconnect the electric door locks from the control module? The door locks on my Toyota are acting up and lock and unlock randomly on their own. I've read that it could be a short in the wiring somewhere between the module and the locks or the module itself is messed up and getting confused some how. I would just rather manually lock and unlock the doors without dealing the screwy electronic problems. I would disconnect the connector on each door lock but this car has it where you can't even get access through the holes in the door to get to the the connectors with your hand.
You have a skill set that represents to me a mind being wasted on what you love. Have you ever consider rocket science or maybe considered neurosciences. You are brilliant. Thanks for the viedo
Very good video. You show all details to replace and explain how it works. I'm surprised how you don't have more likes in this. My car lock should have to be replaced too, because when I press the remote control the system says that the driver door is not closed and it is apparently closed. So the problem should be the lock right?
Unfortunately, this video doesn't work for all Toyota doors. I don't know what model Toyota this is he is working on, but I have a 1997 Toyota Avalon. After I took off the inside panel and proceeded to access to the actuator, I found it is not as accessible as the Toyota door in this video. After you remove the plastic weather film, to get to the openings in the metal door, I found that the holes are not as large so you can barely even get your get your head up next to the panel to look back there with a flash light to see what's what much less get your hand up in there. I had to use a mirror and flashlight to get a clear view of the inside of the door back where the latch/lock actuator is. Secondly, one of the nuts that holds the exterior handle in the door is inaccessible to loosen it so that you could pull it out from the outside like he does in the video to unsnap the lock rod. The actuator itself is blocking the hole that you would stick a socket wrench inside to loosen the nut on the handle. So, first you would have figure out how to reach the lock rod from inside and unsnap it so that you could then push the actuator down slightly to even be able to get to that nut through the hole that needs to be loosened. It's ridiculous how they designed it. And it was really hard to get a screw driver or something with a hook back there to try to pull out the little lock rod which snaps into the inside of the exterior handle. So, when I did get something back in there to hook it and try to pull it out, then it was so tight it wouldn't pop out and I ended up breaking off the inside part of the exterior handle that it hooks into. So, I thought, well I can replace that broken exterior handle once I got the actuator loosened and out of the way. But, then, when I loosed the 3 torx screws that hold the actuator to the back of the door, I found that I couldn't even pull the actuator out because the window track was directly in the way of getting it out. (I find it interesting that this video doesn't even show any type of window track in the place that mine is located which is directly in front of the center of the actuator.) So, I tried unscrewing the bottom part of the track where it's attached to a bracket inside the door which did make it more flexible to move but there was still no room to push it out of the way because of a 1"-2" diameter horizontal pipe that's welded to the inside of the outer part of the door for support which prevented me from having any room to push the window track aside to make room to squeeze the actuator past it. (You can see the pipe I'm talking about in this video). The actuator was just too wide to slide past any of that crap that was blocking it on the inside. So, after sitting there and carefully examining the space to see what else I could loosen, take apart or get out of the way to get it out, I finally determined the only way to get that actuator out of that door was if I cut out the window track to get it out of the way. And of course I wasn't going to do that because it would then be unusable! So, finally I ended up saying to hell with this nonsense went to the junk yard and just got another door to replace the old door. The actuator works in the new door, and I bought it for about the price I would pay to get a new actuator. And it was a hell of a lot easier to put on than trying to get the actuator out of the old door which ultimately proved impossible. The door is a different color than the car but that's a minor trade-off. These slick 'make it look easy' videos are nice but unfortunately, they don't always equate to how some of the Toyota door designs are made and the obstacles you run into.
I have a 2010 Camry. I've gone thru 3 rear door locks and now my driver side front door lock isn't working. Toyota dealership charges $330-370 per a door. I'm not sure whats going on with Toyota lately but between this and their VVI engine camshaft gearing problem, which has a Service bulletin to it. My days with Toyota's are almost done. Great job on the video! Didn't think it was that complex to do.
This is awesome! You make great videos and clearly know what you are doing! After watching this I feel I can now replace my broken power door actuator. (Now to find out where I can buy the actuator separately for cheaper than the dealer..) My 2002 Camry drivers side door lock actuator started slowing down and finally gave out. A few months later my rear drivers side door actuator stopped working. I'm hoping the back drivers side door lock is maybe on the same fuse and that would be an easy fix for my back door. I'm pretty sure the front drivers side door actuator is toast because it slowly died on me. I have a 1998 Avalon which I took to the dealer recently to replace the door handle that broke half off. It was about $300 for parts/labor and after they were done they said the door closure assembly was binding (which it never did while I used the door handle half snapped off). They quoted me $1,100 for a door closure assembly part. I skipped on it because it didn't bind that much and still works fine two months later. The car probably isn't worth $2,000 and I'd like to keep it running smoothly without paying more than it's worth so your videos are awesome for me!!
+Michael Linhart I'm glad my videos help you learn and inspire you to work on your own car. On these older cars, going to the dealership will be expensive. The junkyard is your best friend...I've gotten a lot of parts that you see in my videos for cheap from there...including this power door lock actuator. Junkyards really make money on metal, so most things (like electronics) that don't have too much hunking metal they don't charge as much.
My friend, you're clearly a genius in this area, but you convinced me never to try it myself. Too many things I'd never get back together right. Can I ask your opinion? Both my remotes lock and unlock all the car doors, but the key in both remotes fail to lock or unlock the driver's side door. The keys must be good, as they work in the ignition. The car is a 2011 Toyota Venza. Would you advise taking it to a dealer (high cost but everything gets put back right) or a regular shop (lower cost but might not get all the parts on back right)? Being able to get into the car with the key is important for when the car battery has died and I need to pop the hood. Great video, if for nothing else to show us how complex this "simple" job can be.
+Steve Kohn My feeling is the key unlock rod has become disconnected and can't control the latch to unlock or lock. If the car is under warranty, consider taking it back to Toyota. If not, find a reputable independent mechanic in your area. The only thing that can go "wrong" is they break the door panel clips and don't put it back properly ( and end up with a squeeky and rattling interior).
+speedkar99 I'll try the independent mechanic then. Was going to take it to the dealer. Heck, if I could figure out how to get the interior door panel off, I'd try it myself if it might be just a disconnected rod. But found no videos on UA-cam for the Venza door. Many thanks.
Steps are similar for the Camry: www.toyotapart.com/Venza_Door_Panel_Trim_Delamination_TSB008310.pdf www.toyotanation.com/forum/152-venza-forum/1158657-venza-door-panel-removal-tutorial-video.html#post9669465
after 6 hours of tearing my door apart while stuck closed i finally have an idea of what im looking at or not as the case may be however parts have fallen out of my lock ive got to try to disengage it some how thanks for the insight
speedkar99, the two links you sent -- a video on the Camry, and Toyota's written directions for the Venza -- are great. Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to find them for me. I believe I can do this now.
my Toyota rukus is now 4 years old, just recently it hasn't been locking when I push the black button on the outside of the door. it locks sometimes. I know there is definitely a problem. could it actually be my lock assembley that is no longer working.?
just last month i took it to Toyota for it's 45,000 service. i informed them that my car wasn't locking properly. they just changed the battery in one of my keys, but still when i push the button on the outside of the door to lock it rather than using the key nothing happens & after watching your video i know it must be deeper. than just a battery. my car is just over 4 years old. how long does the lock assembly usually last for.?
4 Years old is a bit young to have a failed lock actuator but nevertheless it is a mechanical part that could be defective. Mine were most likely original, I've got 279,000km and its 16 years old... My 10 year old Lexus with 224,000km has door lock actuators that work like brand new.
Yes 4 years is a little young. you see on the outside of my 2 front doors the driving side & the passenger side, i am having 2 black buttons 1 on either side. it is for locking & when i want to unlock i just go to open the door as they are having sensors under neath, is why i not need to use my key. maybe it could be something else. i haven't even done 50,000 ks is still like new you could say. maybe i will look into it further do a little research before i decide on what to do about it. will keep you posted on that. thanks for letting me know your thoughts always appreciate it. have a great day my friend :)
+Celtic Tiger Not right now. Usually if the actuator is slowing down or not working (especially in warmer weather) it indicates its slowly dying. If its completely dead, you can jump 12V to the terminals at the plug to see if it will activate.
I did read somewhere that there's a built in resistor somewhere that overheats purposely so it doesn't burn out the motor from over-actuating. In warm weather it shorts the motor causing it to not activate properly. However I didn't see any resistors when disassembling the unit.
Excellent video sir ! Thank you for it ! I subbed because you are so very thorough and thoughtful in your demonstration . I just found you while trying to understand this system so as to diagnose my issue on my newly acquired 2008 Mazda3 S. Perhaps, you could check my thinking for me? What's happening is that my passenger front door lock is not locking when signaled via the key fob (It moves SLIGHTLY, but doesn't lock ), so it must be locked and unlocked by hand. I'm suspecting that the actuator is failing or the cables are mechanically compromised. Along with that symptom, the alarm will immediately sound after all doors are locked manually and the KEY is used at the driver door cylinder (The only key cylinder on the doors) to activate security monitoring (Using the key and turning to the right in the driver key cylinder activates the alarm system monitoring). So, what I suspect is that the switch position indicator on the actuator may be constantly indicating that the door is in the unlock position, even when it has been manually locked, thus setting off the alarm. Does that sound feasible to you with your understanding of how this system operates? @speedkar99
I was wondering on a Toyota sequoia... If my rear hatch doesn't lock is this the Actuator that is faulty. I can't unlock or lock the hatch with the key as well. Thanks
Please make video on how door lock and unlock receiver works, how receiver receive signals and how it send to the ecu with diagram of door key receiver
What is the specific vehicle used in this video? I have a 1999 Corolla and I need to replace the lock actuator on it. Thanks. Good video. I've subscribed to your channel based on this one!
What about 1996 T-100. No key FOB, driver's side door. Can lock with key or use manual lock inside. Interior auto lock won't work on driver's door but does work on passenger door. Any video for this? Thanks.
Thanks for the video, my 1999 camry actuator was bad because of which it was not locking/unlocking, I changed it, but after changing the actuator the lock became little stiff because of which its not locking but it is responding which it was not earlier, what could be the issue? Is it the lock rods or the actuator was not placed properly? Thanks
My power door lock on the front driver side doesn't work. Would it be sufficient to just replace the actuator or does the latch need to be replaced as well? The actuator can be purchased individually. Thank you!
Do you know if a 1995 Toyota Avalon has a door lock actuator like the one in the video that can be replaced? I removed the whole door lock latch assembly, but I can't seem to find the actuator. Where is it? Thank you!
I have the same problem (it works only on the passenger side) on my Toyota MR2 but it seems it's too hard for me to fix it alone :( Thank you, and great video
I have a 1997 Toyota Avalon XLS, and the driver side door rod from the exterior door handle to the latch has been broken. I have the piece (rod) and know it it broken. My question is where do I find the replacement part for the rod? Or do I have to replace the entire mechanism like in this video? Would you send me in the right direction? I have been looking for schematics for the door, but can't find one doing google searches. Would you send any links to help? Either a different video or drawings? Thanks.
speedkar99. If unlocking the door with a key does not trigger the other doors to unlock, how can you know if the problem is the door controller or the key detection switch in the actuator !! Thanks for your video.
I have a 2004 Endeavor and the driver door lock stopped working. Shortly after the fuse popped and now if we replace the fuse it goes after 1 use. So could the bad lock be the cause of the fuse blowing or is there a bad ground elsewhere? Also, not sure if its related or just a completely different failure, but our alternator is not charging enough ( bad ground) after replacing the regulator. So I'm not sure if this ground is affecting the alternator's ground .
Proud of you. Can I know why the door lock gets jammed in a car fire why people are unable to open the door from inside what is the problem in central locking and auto locking. Can you please tell me and all the world what damage can take place in disabling the central locking system/ auto locking system
Need help please, 06 civic sedan- driver side front door. Actuator is lock or seize close and I can't manually or remote lock or unlock the door lock. It won't move. I can't open the door . I manage get door panel off and have access to actuator. But how do I get it to release from striker to open door. I have tried removing and reinserting the rod that goes into actuator from door lock . It wont unlock. How can I get it to release to open door to get to those 3 screws holding the actuator.
Can you pull on the actuator from the door handle to release the door? There's no access to those three screws from inside, you might have to take out the angle grinder to encourage things to get moving
Speedkar99, my latch on my 2000 Solara D/S door sticks so I can't close the door. Need to use a screwdriver to lift the internal plastic latch then close the door. Can this latch be changed or need to change the whole unit?
hi! do you have any suggestions on what i can do on getting to the lock actuator since my door is totally stuck....it won't open from the inside and outside door handle. thanks!
+Ray Trinidad You will need to get the door panel off somehow, you might have to break it off if you can't pop it off from inside. See if you can pull the cable for the door handle after taking off the trim around it. If not, then play with the latch mechanism from the inside until you get the white tab to unlock. Sorry not much other suggestions....since the two bolts holding the anchor are connected to the body and you couldn't unscrew them with the door closed.
anybody can answer - on 2014 kia sorento driver door we are pulling the cables and not getting the door open i will try to do it in order this time .. unlock then open.. if we are not able to use the cables will we be able to use our hands or slim jim or do we have to use saw and hammer and if i use slim jim do i pull or push.
i'm in toronto can i just hire you to fix the power door actuator on my 08 mazda3? all doors unlock except driver side. Key works fine. I think the door motor actuator is fried or something got unhooked?
Ouch, that's really a huge complicated door for a car, may be someone can use this, for a safety locker too, but you must have a ton of patience to service that man.
I have a FZJ80 rear tail gate lock actuator that is not operating. The motor works but doesn't have enough "grunt" to open/close the latch. I cleaned out the motor - pulled the magnets and cleaned and replaced but still motor shaft spins but no Grunt.I noticed on the circuit board there is a thermistor (TDK 5088)and I am wondering if it could be that component that needs replacing or the motor itself. Any feedback is very much appreciated. Regards SB
when I press the power lock button on the driver door to unlock, only the driver door lock unlocks, The other 3 doors do not. How many actuators do I need to replace? Thanks.
I can't find anything for Tacoma 4 door (2006), both electric locks work, then quit, when they don't work, I see the lock trying to move but its stuck, but its not tight, its easy to move by hand, but I always hear the actuator working, i'm lost on what to do? Is the adjustment off, because the actuators are working?
+ozman1966 That happens when your lock actuators are wearing out and the weather is warm. I'm getting the same issue on my Solara, especially when the sun shines in and heats up the interior.
being charging a arm and or leg. I have a honda pilot 2003, I had the ignition switch changed and they put the original switch actuator in the steering wheel. so do car repair people know how to fix this problem, and about how much can i expect to pay to have it done? Thanks for your reply. I need the automatic locks.
Do i need to replace all the actuator motor assembly for all four doors? My lock on the driver's side is broken and it doesn't lock all four doors. Pls help. Thank you.
What can I do if I lost my extra key to my truck? What can I do to keep someone from unlocking my truck with extra key? It would be better if it did not involve mechanical work. I would not be able to do this myself if it involves difficult mechanic work.
I just bought a 2008 Subaru Forester and the seller told me "Don't lock the doors, not with the key fob and not with the key." I am leaving my car unlocked for now until I can figure out what is wrong with it. I don't want to bring it to the Subaru dealership, because they will charge a lot to fix it. I am worried that it is an expensive fix. Can you tell me what might be wrong with it? Also, is there anyway to lock and unlock the doors manually without having it connected to the car computer?
As far as I know, the locks are not jammed, but if you lock them, they won't be able to be unlocked. In other words, it may need to be reprogrammed or could be the actuator? I don't know, he didn't explain. But I am afraid to play around with it and get locked out.
You're right. I got the same problem with my 1997 Toyota Avalon., I just went to the junk yard and got a replacement door after messing with it. Replacing the door was less trouble, cost about the same price as a new actuator, and was easier and faster to put on. See my long post I posted today at the top explaining all the problems I read into trying to get the actuator out without any success, I'm sure its similar to what you encountered. These videos are misleading They don't always apply.
When you broke open the actuator assembly with the motor inside (4:50 of your video), it reminded me of another video where a mechanic used an alternate method to open up a similar assembly and put it back together. Not sure if the skill is transferable in this application but hopefully sharing other practices helps. You can watch it from the beginning or skip ahead to about 2:00 of his video to see... ua-cam.com/video/AUlx41w7L1E/v-deo.html
great job and great experience, Speedkar99! Do you have repair shop ? I'm so old that I couldn't follow your instruction . My car, a Toyota Camry 2011 gets problem with key remote that only works on lock/unlock at driver side, but not for other 3 doors. Now they are dead, before this, they worked off on when it was hot.
My passenger rear door lock isn't locking or unlocking the door, I think the lock actuator is broken, the issue is that I can't figure out how to remove the unit from the door in my 95 camry V6 made in Japan. I believe part looks like this one on E-Bay...www.ebay.com/itm/162348615531?item=162348615531&frommaketrack=true&viewitem=&vxp=mtr The reason I couldn't remove it is because there is a window guide bar inside the door, I released the 2 bolts but it didn't seem to want to move. I also had the window closed (or in the up position, so it wasn't in the door). I wondered if you've heard any trick to removing the lock on a 95 camry? Thanks! jc
Complicado desarmar una puerta tiene muchas mecánica saar la chapa creo cualquiera lo puede hacer si saberlo hacer sacarle los tornillos ala puerta y sale

Dude!! I hope you are an engineer. very impressive.
+coreyharn Yes I am an engineer
Very good video. You show all details to replace and explain how it works. I'm surprised how you don't have more likes in this. My car lock should have to be replaced too, because when I press the remote control the system says that the driver door is not closed and it is apparently closed. So the problem should be the lock right?
That would be the lock position switch
(Now to find out where I can buy the actuator separately for cheaper than the dealer..)
My 2002 Camry drivers side door lock actuator started slowing down and finally gave out.
Steps are similar for the Camry:

after 6 hours of tearing my door apart while stuck closed i finally have an idea of what im looking at or not as the case may be however parts have fallen out of my lock ive got to try to disengage it some how thanks for the insight
speedkar99, the two links you sent -- a video on the Camry, and Toyota's written directions for the Venza -- are great. Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to find them for me. I believe I can do this now.
+Steve Kohn Your welcome, glad I could help.
All it takes is a simple google search :)
Straight to the topic video👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
That's my style
Are all four door lock actuators the same or is there a different method for the rear doors and the right and left side of the car?
+KrzyspL93 they are mirrors of each other. My car (solara) doesn't have rear doors lol
my Toyota rukus is now 4 years old, just recently it hasn't been locking when I push the black button on the outside of the door. it locks sometimes. I know there is definitely a problem. could it actually be my lock assembley that is no longer working.?
+SK4869 Yes, the lock actuator motor is worn out, or there could be a gear snapped inside. The only way is to tear it down to find out.
just last month i took it to Toyota for it's 45,000 service. i informed them that my car wasn't locking properly. they just changed the battery in one of my keys, but still when i push the button on the outside of the door to lock it rather than using the key nothing happens & after watching your video i know it must be deeper. than just a battery. my car is just over 4 years old. how long does the lock assembly usually last for.?
4 Years old is a bit young to have a failed lock actuator but nevertheless it is a mechanical part that could be defective.
Mine were most likely original, I've got 279,000km and its 16 years old...
My 10 year old Lexus with 224,000km has door lock actuators that work like brand new.
Yes 4 years is a little young. you see on the outside of my 2 front doors the driving side & the passenger side, i am having 2 black buttons 1 on either side. it is for locking & when i want to unlock i just go to open the door as they are having sensors under neath, is why i not need to use my key. maybe it could be something else. i haven't even done 50,000 ks is still like new you could say. maybe i will look into it further do a little research before i decide on what to do about it. will keep you posted on that. thanks for letting me know your thoughts always appreciate it. have a great day my friend :)
are u sure u installing the new latch 7:23 it looks like the old one .. nice vid by the way rare also
+lastmanxa its a used one from junkyard
Have you any videos on testing actuator before you take the door apart.Good video!
+Celtic Tiger Not right now. Usually if the actuator is slowing down or not working (especially in warmer weather) it indicates its slowly dying. If its completely dead, you can jump 12V to the terminals at the plug to see if it will activate.
I have power and signal, just saw a video on the matter, seems like the micro switch inside the actuator can give problems with sticking.
I did read somewhere that there's a built in resistor somewhere that overheats purposely so it doesn't burn out the motor from over-actuating. In warm weather it shorts the motor causing it to not activate properly. However I didn't see any resistors when disassembling the unit.
Yeah I'm going to take it apart and see what's going on.Hope its something simple.
Well, I thought that I might do this myself. Now I'm thinking I better leave it to the pros??? Good video!
+David Schaum This isn't that hard. You can do it. There's nothing to screw up.
Excellent video! I have a Toyota Yaris year 2000. One of the doors doesn´t lock. Is it possible that the problem is the actuator motor ? Thanks.
+IMI ABSURDO Yes
@speedkar99
Not gonna do it, but it’s interesting to watch and see how many parts are in a door.
+Error thanks
It is quite interesting to see how all that goes on behind the door locks
What are the primary years/models this assembly is used on ?
Very good clip! Great knowledge!
I was wondering on a Toyota sequoia... If my rear hatch doesn't lock is this the Actuator that is faulty. I can't unlock or lock the hatch with the key as well. Thanks
+James Deleon There's an issue with the latch, not the actuator. Perhaps the rod for the lock is dislodged.
speedkar99 I don't think that's it. I open it up. I don't see the lock/unlock tab moving... I can open the door... It just won't lock.
Please make video on how door lock and unlock receiver works, how receiver receive signals and how it send to the ecu with diagram of door key receiver
Check my newer power door lock video please
very preciously described. My dirver's side door locks with the remote but other three door doesn't locks!! they get locked manually only !!
+Nitin Dangwal Seems like you've got a worn or stuck actuator.
+speedkar99 I have checked other three doors, they are not receiving power. What could be faulty ?
Great job thank you for the video
will this work also for replacing actuator of a 2007 scion tc?
+kingbamm03 I'd assume its quite similar for most Toyotas.
How did you initially determine that the problem was with the actuator and not the door lock switch?
excellant dissection!!
+jake ounce Thanks
What is the specific vehicle used in this video? I have a 1999 Corolla and I need to replace the lock actuator on it. Thanks. Good video. I've subscribed to your channel based on this one!
+Geozero George 1999 Toyota solara
Should be similar
I'll have a video for the Corolla in a few weeks
What about 1996 T-100. No key FOB, driver's side door. Can lock with key or use manual lock inside. Interior auto lock won't work on driver's door but does work on passenger door. Any video for this? Thanks.
Thanks for the video, my 1999 camry actuator was bad because of which it was not locking/unlocking, I changed it, but after changing the actuator the lock became little stiff because of which its not locking but it is responding which it was not earlier, what could be the issue? Is it the lock rods or the actuator was not placed properly?
Thanks
+Ranjan Kumar lubricate the lock mechanism. Also make sure the lock is adjusted properly against the door. Was it a new unit?
you are a really smart guy! thanks for sharing!
+ronald pivaral Thanks
Solid video thanks for the help
+anal earhole your we
I like you explanations is clear 👌
My power door lock on the front driver side doesn't work. Would it be sufficient to just replace the actuator or does the latch need to be replaced as well? The actuator can be purchased individually. Thank you!
+Zeberka Yes just the actuator
speedkar99 So, why was there a need to replace the latch in your case then?
Do you know if a 1995 Toyota Avalon has a door lock actuator like the one in the video that can be replaced? I removed the whole door lock latch assembly, but I can't seem to find the actuator. Where is it? Thank you!
It should be similar
I have the same problem (it works only on the passenger side) on my Toyota MR2 but it seems it's too hard for me to fix it alone :( Thank you, and great video
+Alexis Pugliese thanks. Hope it helps
Do I really need to take off the exterior handle ?
PS are the door actuators on the Camry different? could the passenger one fit on the driver door? Thanks.
+George Anthony No, they are mirrors of each other.
Well done.
+Michael Aitchison Thanks
I have a 1997 Toyota Avalon XLS, and the driver side door rod from the exterior door handle to the latch has been broken. I have the piece (rod) and know it it broken. My question is where do I find the replacement part for the rod? Or do I have to replace the entire mechanism like in this video? Would you send me in the right direction? I have been looking for schematics for the door, but can't find one doing google searches. Would you send any links to help? Either a different video or drawings? Thanks.
+Manuel Mose Toyota probably won't sell just the rod. Your best bet is the junkyard.
speedkar99 where did you get the latch assembly?
What is the size of star wrench/socket to remove the latch from the door? What all tools would I need to remove this from a junkyard car?
speedkar99. If unlocking the door with a key does not trigger the other doors to unlock, how can you know if the problem is the door controller or the key detection switch in the actuator !! Thanks for your video.
You can try worrying the leads that lead to the door control switch
how latch locks? it locks by white plastic ?
+Глеб Ворончихин Yes, the white plastic cam thing moves to deactivate the handle, hence it its "locked".
It's likely a short in the actuator or wiring
Good work
Thanks
How to replace the rear door lock actuator? For the same car
Wow, you know your stuff!
Thanks
Better to change the unit
All my 3 passengers don't unlock by key or central lock switch at the driver seat. What do I need to fix? This is for 2004 Hyundai Elantra.
+James Chuaycham ป้อม ศักดิ์ชัย Seems like the lock rod is busted.
hi! do you have any suggestions on what i can do on getting to the lock actuator since my door is totally stuck....it won't open from the inside and outside door handle.
Thanks for the awesome stuff.
My car i20 passenger door actuator plug has no power at all. The central locking is not working on this particular door. Please help.
i'm in toronto can i just hire you to fix the power door actuator on my 08 mazda3? all doors unlock except driver side. Key works fine. I think the door motor actuator is fried or something got unhooked?
+N N Sounds like you need a new door lock actuator
Ouch, that's really a huge complicated door for a car, may be someone can use this, for a safety locker too, but you must have a ton of patience to service that man.
Yes it is quite an intricate mechanism
Thanks.
Excelente video!.
Thanks for great video. Good job bro :))
+94 Butcherz Thanks
being charging a arm and or leg.
+Crissy G You'd have to change out the key tumbler I showed, attached to the handle
Good video, think I'll just put up with the problem for now.
+computerphonic why? It's only going to get worse in the summer
+jjaynes02 Why did the seller say that...is the locks jambed?
As far as I know, the locks are not jammed, but if you lock them, they won't be able to be unlocked. In other words, it may need to be reprogrammed or could be the actuator? I don't know, he didn't explain. But I am afraid to play around with it and get locked out.
Prolifically profound!
I enjoyed it thank you
1997 Toyota Camry le right rear passenger door lock actuator.
Can’t get the actuator out pls help
You're right. I got the same problem with my 1997 Toyota Avalon., I just went to the junk yard and got a replacement door after messing with it. Replacing the door was less trouble, cost about the same price as a new actuator, and was easier and faster to put on. See my long post I posted today at the top explaining all the problems I read into trying to get the actuator out without any success, I'm sure its similar to what you encountered. These videos are misleading They don't always apply.
10 times THUMBS UP,,,,,,,,,,,,,my friend,,,,
Thanks my friend
Can anybody tell me how to open a door on 06 passat if it won't open from inside or outside
You might need to open the door panel
Thank you !
He's basically telling you... don't try this at home...or at car
+mike ion Why not? Easy
OMG ! Step 1: Dissassemble the entire vehicle - remove every screw and bolt until there's nothing but 4 tires and a pile of plastic.
Yes disassemble everything
I understood everything up until 'the power lock actuated' I would rather replace another window regulator!
Ok
one more Philips head screw
When you broke open the actuator assembly with the motor inside (4:50 of your video), it reminded me of another video where a mechanic used an alternate method to open up a similar assembly and put it back together. Not sure if the skill is transferable in this application but hopefully sharing other practices helps. You can watch it from the beginning or skip ahead to about 2:00 of his video to see...
ua-cam.com/video/AUlx41w7L1E/v-deo.html
Glad you know what you're doing. Way too fast for me to follow.
+Marcoosianism Sorry that it was too fast, I rather make my videos more concise and not long and boring.
great job and great experience, Speedkar99! Do you have repair shop ? I'm so old that I couldn't follow your instruction . My car, a Toyota Camry 2011 gets problem with key remote that only works on lock/unlock at driver side, but not for other 3 doors. Now they are dead, before this, they worked off on when it was hot.
+To Nguyen Thanks. I don't have a shop. I work on my own cars. Are you pressing the remote twice to unlock all doors?
I was lost after the first minute. Just take it to a mechanic and save yourself the headache.
GOOD JOB, UM SUBBING
+Bobby Alvarado thanks, check out my other videos
My passenger rear door lock isn't locking or unlocking the door, I think the lock actuator is broken, the issue is that I can't figure out how to remove the unit from the door in my 95 camry V6 made in Japan. I believe part looks like this one on E-Bay...www.ebay.com/itm/162348615531?item=162348615531&frommaketrack=true&viewitem=&vxp=mtr
The reason I couldn't remove it is because there is a window guide bar inside the door, I released the 2 bolts but it didn't seem to want to move. I also had the window closed (or in the up position, so it wasn't in the door). I wondered if you've heard any trick to removing the lock on a 95 camry?
Thanks!
jc
+Jon Chock I haven't touched a gen 3, but there might be a write-up on toyotanation forums
Complicado desarmar una puerta tiene muchas mecánica saar la chapa creo cualquiera lo puede hacer si saberlo hacer sacarle los tornillos ala puerta y sale
