absolutely i didn't notice but thank for pointing it out. valuable
Holy fuck, Ribeiro landing his best tricks flawlessly and with authority!
well said. it was hella close
Robeiro killed it but nyjah did get robbed on his 2nd to last trick. Caballerial flip gapped lip was hands downs a 9+
Flawlessly??
@@RawDawgRandi screw nyjah
He was amazing!
Everyone asks why Nyjah didnt get 9 club, but nobody interested why Hoefler get 8.5 for unbeliveble and ununderstading trick from another planet at 34.06
Plus Nyjah does that trick all the time really. Still a hard trick but played it safe to me. That's like one of his tricks.
@@Mattityahu_Sol7 last time nyjah did that was back in 2012 lmao

Just to let You know, " sounds" ( it reads) stupid.
A penúltima volta do Nyjah merecia acima 9.
The judges were playing with Kelvin Hoefler! He deserved way better scores!
Only an 8.5 for the trick at 33:53 is just insane.
Kelvin always gets robbed. It sucks cause he's so gnarly.
Lol I think this was the most emotional ending I've ever felt.
When I saw Gustavo cry I had to join him bro ggs

Sameeeee
I’m not into the 1 line set up
2 lines and 5 best tricks is the best format ..
Edit: 1 run score should count
@@richrollin4867 100% agree
Should have to count 1 run atleast, how can someone win a street league with just best tricks and no run it’s currently an unfair format
Once don’t know which one it was but sheckler skated there there was this 2 line thin I loved that
@@richrollin4867 Yuto has won multiple contests recently due to this best trick format. He never puts in a good run score whereas Nyjah does because runs used to actually count for something. The format is so much worse than before. It's 3 single tricks that win every contest now.

Where's TK at?
This was one of the best and most emotional finishes ever. So happy for Gustavo Ribeiro 🤘🤘

Totally, the thing I really love with skateboarding is how everyone cheers for their competitors, it almost feel like a team effort when they celebrate the winner. Gustavo really deserved that win, amazing!
It truly was man! It was a beautiful thing seeing it live! ❤️ my homie wanted Gustavo to win so bad too!
Don’t forget Luan’s win
Midler landing so many tricks and making top 3 was a surprise, I know he got banger tricks but they're usually super difficult tricks that he doesn't land all the time. He was consistent this day and was a good day for Midler
Bro he's been on the contest circuit and doing really well since like forever. HIs recent incarnation as a beasty street skater is only recent.
He did exactly zero flip tricks. Only reason he got his spot is because others missed their tricks.
Nyjah out there throwing like 6 flip tricks per line plus adding them into best tricks.
Not to say Midler's tricks aren't a million times beyond me personally or difficult in general, but it's still kind of a pussy strategy.
@@XandersGame42 You don't need flip tricks, Yuto rarely does flip tricks too but he's one of the best. Midlers tricks are difficult that's why they scored high. Nyjah obviously got scored higher than midler so you tripping dude
I was there in person. During practice he slammed over and over again, and not just little falls, like full on slams. As soon as the competition started he was on fire. It was insane to see.

Thank u boss
Never got the feels as hard as I did when Gustavo won. So rad. He deserved it.
L
Win well deserved. He wanted it he got it. Gustavo's overcook nollie flip out was crazy.
Was an absolutely great competition. They need to score runs differently. Pulling together all those tricks is a very different skillset and type of skating than throwing down hammers in the single trick. I feel like they should go back to two runs, and then average those into a single score or take the best one, and then take your three best scores from best trick. Eliminating that score just makes me wonder why it's even in.
I do love the two extra attempts at the end for the top four. Definitely made for a more dramatic ending.
100% agree about the run scoring. I say two runs with a minimum of one counting toward the final score. It is now 3 single tricks that wins the contest which is total bs. Nyjah is one of the few that actually put in a beast run because it used to be important (and always should be).
jep made this comment so many times and so many people agree that I wonder why they havent changed it yet. But the judges score the runs with no standard at all, there is no difference in doing 10 or 20 tricks in a run, but bail once and you're f'd... (I like the top 4 extra best trick though. )
so true
@@richrollin4867 i understand your point, but we are in a time were 14yo kids can do flawless run. so a think some mistakes need to be discounted

Cab flip back lip on a gap to long rail should have been 9.x. Well deserved win for Gustavo Ribeiro though!
Can someone do the math on what Houston would have needed on that trick to win?

Yep... he played safe going to the "flat bar" when ribeiro was doing his tricks down the rail... Nyjah tried the same trick on the rail after and bailed... of course the size of the obstacle plays into the score
Fully thought at LEAST 9 clubbing it. Thats a good point though. Flat bar vs Rail. I didn't think of that. Still deserved a 9 i feel
So glad Gustavo won, been watching him for years and knew he was a beast but people slept on him. He's insane rn, so on point and flawless. Good job!
he still is. only reason he doesn't win even more events is because he Tre flips into everything. He does crook nollie flip, and Tre flips into rails. He's the best in the world at both. Nyjah shows a deeper bag. love watching them both.
That was so emotional I love how much skateboarding has showed me in life
I've been watching SLS events since day 1 and this was the absolute best one. The format has really come to maturity. Everything was on point : skateboarders selection, trick selection, level of skating, filming (except for one lil mistake), scores, park design, crowd near the athletes, COMMENTING which is so important when you watch sport on TV (can we all have a moment of gratitude for bringing a proper english commentators in this sport in the name of Geoff Rowley. Simply the goat at this job). On top of that, the most emotional final trick I've seen with a beautiful winner in the name of Gustavo Ribeiro. So much work put into to finally get the holy graal. I'm in tears just like him ! Well done SLS

@@GmoP97 Sadly, I can't do either. I was just trying to figure out why the scores were different. They baffle me with some of Yuto's scores.
They factor in cleanliness of the trick, person style, overall aesthetic, etc. not just the trick.

My problem with SLS is that when a 360flip NoseGrind is a 8.2, I think it’s not enough and underrated,
Congratulations Gustavo. Well done. He executed difficult tricks all perfectly. It was close though and I'm not sure who should've won that. And Alex Midler is the '270 slide man'! Frontside, backside, fakie and nollie. Is there any 270 slide he can't do?
well he's good in spiinning, fakie and regular mostly, but then they were no flips at all! So me won't call him one of the best skaters in the world! YUTO IN UTAH WOULD'VE BEEN AMAZING!!! WHERE ARE ALL THEM JAPANS RIGHT HERE?

The 3 flip nose blunt was insane, but the nollie heel nose blunt was more insane.
Nope
I agree literally no one else is doing nollie heel noseblunts but there's a fair few guys who can do tre nose blunts, but we've seen Nyjah do that trick at past street leagues so that probably explains why it wasn't scored higher
@@lll2923 Yep, exactly. He’s the only one that can do it, as its a harder trick.
@@skamarfire wrong
I don't care about points or subjective preference. I just will remember that to take the gold from Huston, you need to.... hold it.... 360 FLIP BLUNTSLIDE and LAND on ALL THE BOLTS !!!!
That's how Nyjah raised the bar! Congratulations to the podium! Parabéns pro Gustavo Ribeiro! These "kids" are on another level.
I think SLS needs adjust the format so at least one of your run scores should count. Honestly thats why Yuto does well in these contest. Not saying he can't skate cause he can but if you look back since 2017 his runs in SLS have never been that good or he has at least one fall then does well in best trick doing all his nollie/fakie backside tricks.
Now the runs mean nothing. It's the single best 3 tricks and that's it. Completely garbage how they changed the scoring. Nyjah was one of the few to put in a beast run because it used to actually be important. His loses to Yuto have all been due to best trick, Yuto can never put a full run together.
I still can’t believe I was there and got to fist bump Chris Joslin skating out of the Parking lot at the end! ❤️ all of you guys are legends!
😄 = anyone else getting a harsh score
😱 = Nyjah getting a harsh score
For real. They say the judges are unbiased, but that's just not accurate.
16:05 Hoefler has an amazing run, falls at the end, and gets a 6.5.
17:30 Ribeiro has an arguably even more amazing run, falls at the end, gets a 6.3.
Nyjah falls before the buzzer at 21:25 and he gets a freakin 8.9.. Granted it wasn't a major trick that he bailed on, but still I'd like to see any other skater have a bail in their run and still get an 8.9.
As clean and consistent as Jamie Foy (9:03) is on rails, he also gets rated questionably high. I mean he throws a single flip trick in his run, a sketchy one at that, and gets a 7.4. Again, I'd like to see any other skater do a run that consists of nearly only rail tricks, and see what kind of score the judges give him.
Don't get me wrong, I love all these dudes, they're all incredible in their own right. My point is that the judges don't hold everyone to the same standard. Ribeiro had to fight like fucking hell to earn that gold.
Sick event, first i was like "4 best tricks...that sux" but the new format with the added 2 more best tricks from the top 4...great job SLS, you rock!
The reason I always comment to please have someone else besides Andrew Cannon commentate is that he ONLY points out the negative, when someone dosen't make a trick, he never says anything good about a trick. Like Geoff Rowley, Paul Zitzer would be a way better combination, or just get some other pro skater to commentate.
I enjoy Paul Zitzer
i really hope they bring chris cole back, it's gonna be good hearing cole and rowley commenting i guess ;)

Gustavo always been destroying the competition, great to see him get a deserved win and beat Nyjah at his best. Especially after seeing Gustavo take a slam and was not able to compete at his last event, to come back from that accident and win shows his determination and he must've put in so much training since then. It paid off for Gustavo, he got a lot of 9 club tricks if he lands them he can compete with the best of the best like nyjah, yuto, kelvin, shane o'neil, etc..
