does anyone know if Daiki Ikeda is related to Daisuke Ikeda? they share the same last name and both are good skaters. I think Daisuke won tampa pro or was runner up something like that but he dope
I am glad to see a less villainous nyjah for sure. You could see some of the awkward distrust or confusion from the other skaters when he was being buddy buddy with them. I still have my speculations, but hey, genuine or not, I'm still happy to see it.
Say what you want about Nyjah but the most villainous dude out there is Yuto.. He got those type of eyes... And how you get a 9.3 on a spin and a rail tap? Talk about home court advantage
I didn't know Yuto every celebrated landing a trick, let alone dap that many people up after. I'm a little shook but happy to see him engaging with the other skaters more. Man is just ice cold...
Kelvin got underscored on first run by at least 0.3 points imo. Same for Nyhah. That almost perfect first run would have deserved an 8.6 or 8.7. Yuto maybe got a little to much. A 9.1 I had understood but 9.3? Dunno.
Agreed and you could see it on Kelvin's face - he's sick of the scoring being skewed. I would guess it also has an effect on his consistency afterwards, not only does he have to try for more difficult tricks to make it up, he's also tilted. Yuto just gets a free +0.2 or +0.3 for being Yuto
Also in Yuto's first run, during the playback, he clearly missed one truck on his nollie 180 to switch 50 50. In my opinion, he wasn't deserving of a 9. Maybe 8.9 but not 9.
All these dudes are unique and talented and I don’t believe any one of them is necessarily better than each other.. none of them can really mimic each other’s tricks.. was a hell of a contest..
The commentary is getting really stale.. please bring back Chris Cole to the Show!! He was a perfect fit. Much love for the program, been watching for years
This is absolutely some of the best skateboarding I've ever fucking seen I loved it! All u guys all rock!! I couldn't believe Yuto n Nyjah straight shedding!! And the rest putting on a show with Jamie Foy, Ikeda, Hoefler, and Flynn too!! That was a really good skate competition!!
Meh.. I'm sort of glad Kelvin bombed the rest of the final anyways, if I'm being perfectly honest lol. I was pretty salty when he won in Chicago earlier this year, instead of Ryan Decenzo. Ryan was pretty much set to win, until Kelvin just _had_ to land that final trick. I mean, it was nothing short of amazing to see Ryan skate so well in Chicago, at the age of 36 or 37-however old he was at the time. The guy has been skating in these competitions for over a decade, and he's still never won. He's been making a killer comeback though, and absolutely deserves to win. The competition in Chicago should have been his time to shine. Kelvin has already won a final before. I feel like if I had been in Kelvin's shoes, I would have purposely thrown my last trick, so that Ryan could finally have his win. (I would have kept it a secret, of course.) Anyway, whatever. Maybe that's just me.
They need to stop penalizing one failed trick so heavily in a really good run. Daiki put down 2-4 9 club tricks in first run. Should have gotten at least a 9 for that overall.
Yeah, the penalty for a fall is way too harsh. If the run would have been an easy 9, I feel like a fall should only take about half a point. Knocking an otherwise 9 run down to a 6 or 7 isn't fair.
I completely agree. It basically is to the point where they might as well just quit the run. He nailed amazing tricks and gets a practically useless 7.8...
17:45 Malto commented that Hoefler did a little look back at Nyjah after doing the fakie 270 flip that Nyjah tried, but I noticed that immediately Hoefler did a 180 one footer, just like Jamie Foy, then did a fs bluntslide just like Ikeda
Kkkk
Yuto puts down tricks that only he can do atm so he should on that leader board at the top. They constantly rip him off with scoring fckn bs, score accordingly to trick difficulty and rarity. When have you seen yutornado
You know how men and women compete in separate tournaments? Soon the Japanese kids are gonna have their own tournaments so that everyone else will have a chance. Hot damn! What’s in the water in Japan? A culture of unmatched precision and dedication.
I hate i hurt my left ankle before skating...i ride goofy...its very difficult doing a switch flip but i can do a nollie 3 flip ...protect your ankles at all cost...good comp yall
Just so we're clear (as mud) Yuto does a nollie back 180 to SWITCH 5050. Nyjah does a nollie back 180 to NOSEGRIND. Why didn't he call Nyjah's trick a switch 5-0 if you're going to call Yuto's a switch 5050 instead of FAKIE which it was..
yes it is. it happened live on august 12th. took me 10 fucking minutes to find that out. idk why they dont plan every event in the beginning of the year and then give everyone a fucking schedule... snowboarding is the same thing. no clue when the comps are, just watch it when you get to. im sure thats a big reason why skateboarding/snowboarding isnt as popular as football/basketball/etc. mental.....
They need to judge these better. Yuto does 4 tricks in his run, to others that do like 8-10 tricks. It’s kind of annoying. Granted yuto is insane but I just don’t get that. There should be a minimal amount of tricks you need to do per run. 6 tricks or something, minimal. Or just get rid of the run section, because it really doesn’t matter. People wanna see best tricks. I remember the first couple seasons of street league, they had like 3 events, or something and I thought the layout was better back then to be honest.
Sean should keep naming the more complicated tricks for the casuals. Reactors never know the names of the tricks and totally fumble. It’s embarrassing. Jus playing but malto commentary is boss!
Kelvin trying to kick away the non existent rocks gets me every time
Lol 😂
he has been doing this for a while now too haha
Yeah it's so fkn funny
A piece of dust gonna end him
Haha
But he always forgets to kick the rocks away where he's going to land haha
Glad to see Daiki get on the podium! He's fun to watch.
Why is no one talking about Daiki Ikeda? Incredible skating at such a young age!
he's been podium against these top pro's a few times, only a matter of time before he takes the gold medal
Maybe American skaters will be able to compete when they put the cigaweed away
He is already the talk of the town, what do you mean ?
Yuto, Daiki then Ginwoo

Japanese skater's are setting the bar atm, yuto is a beast and so is daiki.
Yuto is just unreal, surprises me everytime
Judges sucked him off in the run section
“Kelvin taking his time.” Had me laughing. 😂
Great finals! Nyjah showing great sportmanship and was landing big tricks but this was Yuto's day

Daiki Ikeda, the dude is gnarly
I mean would this be Tokyo without Yuto? 🏆🇯🇵
And that other kid
Yes, Tokyo would still exist.

Right??? He’s the new rigged Nyjah lmao
Yuto missed the 50 50 on the nollie 180 50 50. That should count as a non land, in which case Nyjah had the better of the first runs.
Then a 8.9 on the second run as well😂
Yutornado put everyone's head in a spin!
I think Yuto’s performance on this one might be the best performance of all time in SLS
Yeah, it's pretty close, I think Nyjah also reached the 37 mark once! Crazy scores from Yuto

Big ups to Nyjah,
Showed us he has pure talent and sportsmanship, throughout the new age skaters he can still hang..
