What is an Option Select and how do I use it? Melty Blood Type Lumina
Вставка

- In this video we discuss the popular 2A 2B+D style Option Select in Melty Blood Type Lumina. This powerful technique allows you to shut down many of your opponent's wakeup options and force them to play conservatively on their wakeup.

Im glad theres an OS to counter wakeup shield. Not really a fan of the shield mechanic. Game is awesome and addictive nontheless
The reason you're failing the C DB is cause the time stop flash for it cleans your buffer so you need to press the B+Shield again after the time stop.
I appreciate the tech sharing lord Sp00ky, thanks.
One of many reasons I'm terrified of doing competitive/multiplayer in this... people are already in so deep ><
Well, it's still awesome as casual fun! I sincerely hope I can befriend a fighting game guru one day, and just really experience a game to its fullest. Drinks and snacks on me.
I know what u mean
This is cool but I have a hard time timing my meaties in this game because wake up grab is so fast
Option selects are my favorite part of fighting games. It's like advanced Paper Rock Scissors.
Though it can kinda go overboard. Looking at you, Street Fighter 4
Haha, option select ultras are not overboard!
@@llamatarian3913 LOL! I actually liked them, but oh man, if you didn't know OS's then playing SF4 was so much harder.
Still, I love Option Selects so it's whatever.
That is one big microphone, man.
I like how you didn't even edit the video from your Shield mistakes
Thanks for explaning the OS, man!
Great video, thanks for the tech. Love you Spooky.
Thanks man. This advices helps me a lot!!
Thx for the melty nuggets spooky
"Os baby, shit's cheap as fuck what the fuck"
Man to counter the OS you can just block too, thats always an option. Sometimes not pressing at all and relying on your defense can help you as well
tks man, very useful @__@
I love you Spooky!
I don't understand how this first OS works. If you press 2A, for it to actually combo into the 2B+D it needs to hit. But if you time the 2A
to hit the opponent just as they are waking up, you're either going to get hit by the invincible frames of its startup if it lands, or whiff into
your 2B if it's too early - but if it's too early, there's no chance of it ever landing the 2A and comboing into 2B! In your video you are pressing A late when you know there is no reversal set on the CPU so the hit lands (around 140 frames after throw), and pressing A early when the reversal is set so it whiffs and you get your 2B+D (around 115 frames after throw).
But in a real option select, you're not going to know whether to press it early or late. The only thing I can think of I might be missing is that it's possible to CANCEL out of
the A into 2B+A so that when IT lands, you get the option select? Or maybe there's something about wakeup timings I don't know?Any help on this?
invincible moves don't hit right away, there's start up frames before the attack hits. For example, shiki 623B hits on frame 6. so your 2A can whiff into the start up frames then whiff cancel into shield before the start up frames. This works because you can whiff cancel 2A so if it hits it cancels into 2B as normal because you can't chain into shield on hit, but if it whiffs the shield takes priority over the B. Hope that makes sense, the timing is tight but it's possible to do one timing for either result.
@@FayeOkay Ah ok, that makes perfect sense. The whiff cancel was something that I could get to work every now and then in training mode, but it seemed really inconsistent, so I wasn't sure if I was doing it correctly. Knowing the mechanics behind it explain a lot. Thanks!
Lol idk what it is but Melty blood players have this thing where they don't fully explain what they're doing in it's entirety. So on their wakeup I just press 2A+D? And it does this?
Is there any reason why 1/2B+D is employed over 1/2A+D?
it's way easier to confirm a blockstring from a b or c normal. (sometimes your 2a will actually hit them)
How do i sign up for ur melty tornaments
BD together on a bad kinda hard for me. Any tips?
