  • I tried becoming an Extreme Minimalist for a week to see how this unconventional lifestyle would affect me mentally and physically…and it was quite an eye-opening experience. Would you ever try minimalism?

    We basically live an extreme minimalist lifestyle. Bed, sofa, chair, tv, clothes, 12 books, and a few other things. It takes about 3 hours to pack up our home and move. I can’t explain how freeing it is. Ask my kids, kind of got to see to believe haha. Awesome content.

    Floor sleeping is actually the best for our bodies. The hard surface forces you to adjust every so often(good for blood flow and reduces sores), and is amazing for your spine. Your spine will relaxed against the hard surface letting it reset. Unlike a hammock or a cushioned mattress, which just curls your body at the hip. It’s the same idea, with cushioned arch support shoes creating weaker feet. But this is just the start of this rabbit hole

    My non-negotiable's: pillow, glasses, Garmin, Garmin charger, runners & a good book. I think I'll forget about the work laptop! Wouldn't mind trying that hammock though!

    I absolutely devored this vid of you trying the process. I surely not consider EXTREME MINIMALISM as a lifestyle for me, but; living a MODERATE one is something I would cherished and I've started planning to do so. Another great vid. Thanks Aaron (:

    Aaron, I really liked the editing in this video. But, as a UA-camr myself, I really value honest critical input. There is something wrong - just my opinion of course - and it might be that it's 3:43AM and I chose the wrong time to watch it. But it just seemed too fast to me. Almost like I had accidentally set the playback speed to 1.5. There was so much content, but it was squeezed into 7:24. I really like the video, but I feel like I didn't have time to appreciate the individual pieces. I'm stepping out of my comfort zone to leave this comment, but only because your content seems so good that I feel like it would be wrong to not say something. I know how hard it is to find truthful feedback on my own work, so hopefully this comment doesn't come across as offensive. (and I'm just one person, I might just be high or something 😆)

    • @DadBodForever
      @DadBodForever 2 роки тому +2

      In fact - I am rewatching it set to 0.75 speed, and it's much easier for me to absorb at this speed. If I could choose I'd go for 0.8 probably.

    • @AaronBarnesYT
      @AaronBarnesYT  2 роки тому

      Hey mate! Really appreciate your feedback and honesty! This is something I’m really trying to work on but as you’ve highlighted I’m obviously still struggling with it. I feel like when I’m editing it, I’m always thinking about engagement and retention whilst also not wanting the video to be dragging on too long, and I guess that has been coming off as quicker edits rather than taking the time to let the audience absorb. I appreciate you responding to this as it’s reinforced the need to slow things down even further. Thanks mate 👍

    • @DadBodForever

      @@AaronBarnesYT Totally get it - I feel the same way when editing. Then at some point I go too far and it becomes unnatural so I start going the other way or it's too late and I've already published lol. Looking forward to the next video man, I subscribed a while back and turned on notifications so this popped up on my phone. This was better than 90% of entertainment videos out there, so my comment was someone nitpicky, but I would definitely encourage you to take the time, like you say, to slow things down a bit and let the audience absorb and just be confident in your content. Do you create drafts of your videos as they progress and have people review them?

    • @AaronBarnesYT
      @AaronBarnesYT  2 роки тому +1

      @@DadBodForever haha yeh I definitely feel you! Nah mate I really appreciate the comment, because its re-confirmed the need for me to dial it back a notch, so I really appreciate the feedback. I do send drafts, but often I'm trying to push a vid out a week and it's taken me the entire week to edit haha so I just skip that part, but I think I need to get back on that reviewing train haha

      @@AaronBarnesYT I'm gonna hop onto this two week old convo and gently suggest you apply the philosophy of minimalism to your approach to filming and editing. If it's important to keep your videos short and to the point I think it would help to reduce how much you're trying to communicate. Or go the opposite direction and be fine with 20 minute videos. I think right now you're trying to have it all and it's a bit overwhelming and crowded feeling.

There's a lot of Dr out there with great information like Dr Anthony Chaffee and Shawn baker
