The problem with too few places to sit is that you can't invite people over. I've been living minimalist for over 13 years now. Not because I specifically wanted to or even knew about it, I just didn't have/need so many things. I've always been that way. But when my uncle and aunt were coming over last month I had no place to sit because I only have one couch (for 2 people). So yeah, it can be a problem if you're not prepared for people coming over. Let alone if you want to eat together (I don't have a dining table or chairs).
Thank you for sharing your life with us. I've been living as a minimalist for a few years now. The only furniture I have (apart from my kitchen units) is a low coffee table on which I work and a simple canvas wardrobe to hang my clothes. I sleep on a workout mat with a yoga mat and fleece blanket on top. I wish I had built-in cupboards like you. Right now I keep the meagre possessions I have in a few plain cardboard boxes piled up against the walls. In spite of the extreme simplicity of my surroundings, I feel peaceful and content. I have no paintings or ornaments but I enjoy the ambience created by the natural light streaming through the blinds during the day and the light of a solitary paper lamp at night.
That sounds amazing Enso, so minimal! It really does make a place feel peaceful. And the box solution also sounds like a good idea! Yes, I know many places I've lived in also did not have build in closets. I also find it easier when they do, but I like your 'light and easy' solution :)
@@AnjasArtWorld Cardboard boxes work but I'm trying to come up with a more aesthetic approach. I watch channels like yours to get ideas on how to make my minimalism not just functional but stylish too.
Thank you for showing your appartment, Anja. It‘s really a dream to live like this. To be able to move within an hour because of so less things you own is a great feeling and creates a really free mind. I love it. (and you ☺️😘) Have a good week. Till from Germany.
Have you thought of moving into studio apartment? I think you’ll save more. What’s the use of bedroom if your unit is literally empty. I’m a minimalist too and have moved to a studio apartment.
It's not true for where I live. I rent a social renting home, which is very cheep. Social rent doesn't have studios expect for students. If I would rent a studio I would have to rent private and would be milked out like a cow (they try to squeeze us in as tiny places as they possible can so that they can rent more out and make more money, it's unethical). I would pay at least three times more rent a month if I'm lucky. All the rules, no pets, and I would have to pay a huge deposit. Definilty not going to do that. Please be careful with your (unasked ;)) advise) Plus, just because I don't like stuff does not mean I hate space. I love space so much!! 😊💛
@@AnjasArtWorld a harsh response to a simple question. Not everyone who watched this video can easily guess where you're coming from. A explanation is more than enough.
Yet again I really enjoyed your video and found it quite inspirational. Also I wanted to tell you that I love how despite how minimalist you live, you still make sure that your pets have everything they need. I am the same way about my cats - they probably have more funiture than I have for myself. I aspire to live very similar, especially when it comes to low furniture, but the judgement I know I'd get if family and friends would find out I'd gotten rid of things like my couch or table is stopping me from ever living quite as I want to. If you ever feel like it, maybe you could talk about how your way of living has affected how your folks think about you and if you ever have been criticized for owning little and how you've dealt with it. If you don't want too that's obviously fine as well, I just thought it would be an interesting topic. Again, amazing video, loved seeing how your new home turned out.
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it. Yes, haha our pets are so important for us, we always want to make them feel comfortable no matter how little things we have ourselves. I notice that my pets do like to have more space to run around and so forth so they seem to like the decluttering as well ;) And thank you for your good suggestion, I will put it on the list 🙂 Yes, others around us do judge us when we have no to little furniture. Sometimes it can be hard, sometimes I feel a bit ashamed in my home with visitors but eventually the most important thing is that I live comfortably and how I want to. And many of them will respect it luckily. I will talk about this in the future! 🙂
Thank you for the apartment tour. Lovely apartment, so easy to keep clean and tidy. Bit by bit I am decluttering my home and garden, which is looking clearer. Next week I’m donating furniture to charity, another thing I don’t need.
Hello Anja...i just love your lifestyle and continue to strive to live a very simple minimal life...i just wanted to tell you how my little cattle dog Boo reacts to my minimizing in our home...everytime i get rid of something, she claims the empty spaces!
