Homeowner Repair Tony do you know the engine oil capacity on this model?
One of the better home repair videos I've seen on the Ariens Snowblower.
Thanks for watching James!
Short sweet and to the point. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! I had to pull off the "boot/cap" to disable the sparkplug in order to work on greasing the auger and you helped me find it (it's not labelled on any of the Ariens manuals)
Thanks for watching
Ditto. Not obvious and not easy to access. Thanks for the easy to follow demo.
I haven’t change mine since 2008. ..maybe I’ll do it this week.

Sometimes it helps to put a short piece of gas line hose (or some other small i.d. hose) over the ceramic end of the plug to get it in and out of the engine.
Yes, This is a great trick!
Ariens AX engines are an exclusive line of engines for the Ariens Sno-Thro lineup that are manufactured by LCT and built to Ariens specifications. Who is LCT? Liquid Combustion Technology (LCT) is a USA-owned and operated company that manufacturers air-cooled engines for outdoor power equipment markets.
Thanks for the added tip!
Good video.
Thanks for watching!
I believe you have a Tecumseh engine. I have the same. Excellent video.

The dip stick engineers, designed the Tin, heat shield, to be in the way . I called them and they admit it's a problem.

“Remove the spark plug boot, just pull it out”...easier said than done...
It can be a little tight in there.
I ended up taking the muffler cover off and then it has very easy access to everything. Only took a min or two. ymmv
If plug is not oil or carbon fouled and ceramic insulator has no cracks proceed >
1)Find the resistance spec on
the plug.
2)Check resistance with ohm meter.
3)If it is within spec. gap to recommended gap.
4) If you have one.. clean plugs in an ultrasonic cleaner.
4) Reinstall on engine.
5) You just saved money and recycled a part that is perfectly serviceable.
Commercial repair shops replace plugs to save Labour and profit on parts markup. It allows them to stand behind their work and save customers Labour cost. As diy folks, you can take the time and save on parts. If you have several engines that require spark plugs you may want to invest in an ultrasonic cleaner. Good deals can be found online. After cleaning twenty spark plugs it pays for itself. A cheap OHM meter can be had for ten dollars.
Personally I have only replaced one spark plug in eight years (cracked insulator). Hope this helps. No harm changing plugs every year, but there is an alternative.
I plug is 2$, you can save the planet another way
Yeah, buying a 2 dollar spark plug is going to break me.
Thanks for the added tip
Thanks for the video. I can't find any info on my spark plug torque value. i have a COMPACT 24 ARIENS. Just a hand tighten and a quarter turn is okay? i would assume this is under 7.2 foot lbs? I am just worried as my spark plug has a crusher washer for seal
I would just snug it up, you don't need to crank down on the thing.
Look up the manual for the engine, the torque specs will be there. My ariens mower has a kawasaki engine and the plug torque is 16.2 ft lbs.
Was hoping you'd mention the plug # for the NGK considering how you "plugged" it...
NGK Spark Plug Standard BPR6ES. Got this info from my owner's manual. Ariens Deluxe 28 Manual shows proper spark plug Part Number 21547400 (for model 28). On-line shows this part has been replaced by 21563037, which is the NGK Model above.
Sorry just saw this. Looks like someone replied though.
How do u know what gap size it’s suppose to be for ur spark plug? 20 vs 30?
You should be able to look it up in the owner's manual.
I wish someone could do a video on an igntion coild replacement on a deluxe 27 I wonder if mine failed becasue I had the wrong plug in it. I contacted the company with the model # and S.E # and the auto parts store sold me the wrong one.
We'll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to perform this auto repair.
Spark Plugs Easily Last 5 Years In Small Engines . They'll Let You Know When Theyre " Done " !!
Hopefully it's not during a bizzard
i have a 2019 ariens dlx 28 thaqt i got new and used lightly for 2 winters and it wont start now? what do i do . i put gas in same as i use in my outboard and it wont start so i put the gas in my 20 year old craftsman that has been sitting for 2 years and it started on 5 tries? what should i do ? this is ridiculous? i will never buy ariens again thats for sure.
looks like you do not know how engine works, bring it to a specialist
Spray a little sea foam into the spark plug hole 🕳 and good to go!
Did you ever get it started?
Sure yours is in a ez spot
Thanks for watching
It’s a ariins engine
Thanks for watching
What a ridiculous design, any other small engine I have had, the spark plug was so easy to get at.
Little tight but not too bad.
