I’ve been trying for over an hour to get the spark plug out. I’ve got the right socket wrench I think. It snuggle fits over the spark plug put it won’t come out! I think they super glued it in. Taking a break try again later or tomorrow. Hope it doesn’t get any colder while working in my garage. Thanks for the video I’m just going to have to try it again. The place I bought it from wants $75 just to pick it up and another $100 to tune it up! I’m on a fixed income and I’m a senior citizen & proud of it. My kids all live out of state so it’s me and my best friend, my dog! Not bad for a woman trying to get things done on my own!
Thank you for this video! Wow... that was not easy to find and really not easy to remove. What a poor design. I really appreciate you clear instructions! 👍🏼
Thanks for the video. I have a 920014 Compact 24 LE. My spark plug socket is too big. Can you tell me what size I need and what spark plug to use to replace it? It will save me a trip if I know what to pick up. Thanks.
Oooh, so that's where they hid the damn thing. Those bastards. As an old timer, I can remember when spark plugs were out in the open and easily accessible. But, snowblowers like the cars have become more complicated to work on. I do think I'm going to try one of those new E3 plugs, though. Nothing wrong with what's in the machine now but there are some good reviews for the E3. And when you're up to your elbows in snow, you want all the power you can get.
@JacksSmallEnginesTV can a factory Torch spark plug cause surging due to wear or design, by adding some choke at low speed Idle, I can get the surging to be manageable, but I want to go with the NGK Equivalent, thanks for your thoughts. (Torch Factory Plug is original from 2013, 40 hours run time on the 250CC Polar Force.
I have a question. How long is your shank for the getting to the spark plug? I did exactly as you did but even had to try to remove the steel piece showing just to the left that connects the top piece cover over the initial cover. No luck getting access as even with a a 2" extension it still wouldn't seat [still off to the left] over the spark plug to remove it! My plug is about 5/6 years old and really needs replacing.
Thanks, the owners manual is really bad I couldn't see what to remove to access the plug. This is really poor design. Common sense tells you to pull the plug lead when clearing auger jams or replacing a shear pin. You shouldn't need a screw driver and have two tiny screws to drop in the snow with your numb fingers.
+Jeffrey Deutsch OOPS!! I have a Deluxe 30 which is different. On mine the gray cover in the video does not cover the plug. There is a separate small, hard plastic, black cover over the plug, that is held on with a single knob. No tools required.
You should have had a longer extension so you don't snap the plastic choke switch off and you should have and could have shown the spark plug part Number to
What's the spark plug part# for an Ariens ST24LE Deluxe(item# 921024). Was searching on your website, but found it very difficult to search/navigate. Thanks.
+USMCDragonGunner The spark plug for Ariens 921024 is part #20001113. Here are parts diagrams for the Ariens 921024: www.jackssmallengines.com/Jacks-Parts-Lookup/Model-Diagram/ARIENS/15346/14223
Phil, the spark plug may also be located on the side of the engine, next to the muffler, behind a plastic shield that needs to be removed. Here is an engine parts diagram of the 921030 model: www.jackssmallengines.com/jacks-parts-lookup/manufacturer/ariens/sno-thros-and-brushes/921-series-sno-thro/921030-150000-deluxe-28/engine-08201024
That was useless. It tells you how to operate a screwdriver and the intricate mechanics related to turning a spark plug clockwise and counterclockwise. But it didn't say anything about what kind of spark plug use or what the gap should be--even though the video is for the specific 28" deluxe model; and then said to tighten the replacement spark plug but "not too tightly" when it may have been more useful to mention the approximate torque. Well, at least now we all know how to turn a spark plug counterclockwise to remove, and clockwise to put in. Great.

Thank you for your video. Big help changing the spark plug for the first time. Made it easy one I saw you do it.
Now if I could only find a video on changing out the ignition coil. I wonder if it went bad becasue the auto parts store sold me the wrong plug?
How about the part number for a replacement spark plug and the gap setting.
Took me forever to re-set the removed plug! They do not make as it easy and accessible as this looks.
Actually, the accessibility is so bad that I would say never, ever buy an Ariens.
Just took me 30 seconds
Good vid, Briggs seems to over complicate their design for routine maintenance.

What size or part number are those top screws?

Quite a bit easier than the deluxe 30. Have to take the valve cover off to get access to plug. Thats to do it without breaking off the plug itself.
I chuckled when you said choke knob
Great!

Does anybody know what the gap on the spark plug is? I am trying to help out a neighbor but she can't find the manual. Thanks.

I have an Ariens Deluxe 28 Model # 921030 but doesn't look like you Deluxe 28. I can't find my spark plug. Not in manuals.

The proper spark plug is specified in the owner's manual.
