That’s the way I do it👍 To be honest, I haven’t lost a chain since we started using a jackshaft years ago.
You are correct about the sprockets,, they aren’t what they once were.

I used to run my chain at your “perfect” or very close to. As I was taught that way. Now Talking with a very well known name in karting, he suggested something way off in left field. Something taboo to 90% of karters..
Setting chain tension with me in kart on the ground.. oh man. what a difference it made in the drivability of the kart. What we think we know isnt always what we know.

Interesting. Chassis flex does count for something.

@@kart6t3_ben yes. I was amazed at how much the chain loaded and unloaded with the chassis. Even more amazing was how much smoother the power was delivered to the ground while getting back in the the throttle. I’m able to get back in it harder than ever

I’ve noticed whenever you move the motor or helps to put downward pressure on the top of the motor to make sure it’s seated to the chassis. This keeps the chain tension from changing too much when tightening. Great video as usual Ben. Your channel is really becoming a go to place for tech help.

I would like to see the mounting of your KT100 pipe. I always have a problem getting the pipe away from the seat with the correct flex. I have the burns to prove it.

I’ve found this is usually a engine placement issue. Most people I’ve seen the engine too far forward making the pipe tight to the seat. Because the KT is so light I get it as far back as I can to the RR tire (the jackshaft makes this hard) I agree though it’s a balancing act.

Gotcha... My buddy runs a 450 on that Riot, it has a threaded rod on the back to push up against the engine mount.... just was curious.
