So glad you’re keeping the VW, and fair play for being so honest. So many creators out there that would try and sweep this under the carpet. Looking forward to seeing it on one of your tours in the future.
I've got one like yours. 522000 km on her. Orange oil light came on today on start up. Put a new oil sensor switch in and fresh oil change. Light is still on. Thing is with the ignition on, before flicking to start,...the red oil light flicks over to orange??.. ..
Sadly you were advised poorly. Any time oil pressure actually drops enough to turn on the oil light you are doing damage. It may have been a faulty sensor but my advice would have been not to drive it until it was changed because of the potential consequence of low oil pressure is too high. Sadly for you, it wasn’t the sensor.
Be an EGR Valve delete (and remap to wipe it off the system) if I were in your shoes with the engine out. Less sh** to go wrong with I'd be doing it. Least then you'd know that that engine and system is as reliable as you can get it. Still learnt a new thing with those engines having a Wet Belt oil pump drive.
My Audi TTs had the oil light flash up. The specialist dropped the sump and found the end of the dipstick partially blocking the pick up. To save money the engine manufacturers added a plastic level indicator on the end of the dipstick - over time this has deteriorated and broken off. I tried to get a full metal equivalent but in the end I had no option but to replace it with the same part.
It is rebuildable, if you switched it off straight away the crank can be recut and oversized bearings fitted, one conrod will be fucked as well though.
I would not have taken any info from these "Know -alls " , I would have got VW to look at it .-YES ! more money perhaps ,but at least you would have had a Great Car . Sorry for your Loss
Despicable engine design that feature. But these are the engines that have big power potential because all the parts are uprated compared to previous generations. Darkside did a chat on how the power goes up beyond expectations.
@@grittoutdoors the only thing that goes wrong on them its the suction control valve and the ac evaporator, they are everywhere here in Mozambique. Hope you can have a solutiob for your Amarok mate
@@dinho890i you probably still have the 3.0L variant like Australia gets too. In which case yes I agree, but the uk version with the 1.9 and even the older 2.5TT haven’t proven themselves as well
Totally disagree with you, it’s nothing to do with that. I could have bought a 5yr one with 50k miles and this still happen. I’m not clinging onto hopes and dreams here, I’m trying to create relatable content for the majority to see if you should or shouldn’t do this…
This is one of the craziest comments I’ve ever read on UA-cam. Doesn’t matter how much money you have. Just get out there any live your life. Some months I don’t have 4p in my bank but I still get out there and have fun.

had a similar problem with my old Au Ford . mine was timeing chain guide big chunks blocking the oil pickup . then they would fall off
Never buy a car with an engine that has a wet belt system. Who on earth thought that running a rubber belt in oil must be mad.
Never even knew they had one until this happened. At least I know now and it didn’t happen in the middle of the Sahara
that's why the correct oil is critical in these type of engines
33” wheels ? Stok suspension ? Did you cut something to fit this big wheels ?
Hmmm. Keeping driving with flashing oil light is not a great idea...
I like to find these things out the hard way🤷♂️

The warning lights are there for a reason and that is not to make the dash look pretty
You could have told me this last week!🙄
Good luck happy days to come

Just time being what I’m up against with it hence the decision to go for a brand new engine instead of
turbo's are probably toast too if you had no oil pressure. Shame.
Some one needs to look at maby do a conversion to a chain drive ????
Hey mate, what rims and wheel spec you have in the amarok? They look awesome!

Sounds like a design and manufacture problem. If it’s a known problem, VW should repair it or receive the consequence of brand and market failure.

like you say still cheap with a new engine 👍
Get rid and start again, rebuild or secondhand is a crapshoot

You have the worst luck with vehicles, hopefully this will be the turning point and like you said even with the new engine it's still a cheap motor 🤞

You're in totally the wrong game if you've not got 4k spare, buy a car you can afford to run rather than overlanding and praying nothing goes wrong.
