Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older. But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.
Great video. I think the most impressive part was using a pencil dot on the sight ring to accurately aim. I'd like to see a followup video where you shoot at 60 yards and see how many 10 rings your score versus not, because that's more of a real world scenario. As impressive as it is to hit a 2-3 foot bag from 150 yards, I'm not sure that's the best test.
I love this! I bought another carbon bow because it's light (and warm when it's cold) and it seemed odd that I would be aiming for reduced weight and then adding a bunch of weight to it. I think that in some cases we are so brainwashed by accessories manufacturers that we just add stuff because we believe that we are supposed to. I have never had a problem shooting tight groups within actual hunting ranges without a stabilizer. I was just told by other archers that I needed one because it will make me a better shot. I don't think that it really made a difference in actual hunting ranges (8-60 yards). I do enjoy the dampening effects that stabilizers afford me but I could get that without adding a bunch of weight. Apparently, I thought that I would be viewed as a Luddite if I didn't have all of these accoutrements on my bow. I guess it's true, it's not the equipment... it's the operator. Great video and mega badass shooting bro.
Worth mentioning that this guy is an absolute ANIMAL. Most people can’t shoot 150. If ur good enough to shoot 150, then you don’t need it. If your like me, and struggle at 70-80, then u need it lol.
yep.. I hunt with my quiver on.. its a tight spot and jammed right up against my hoyt roller guard, just clearing the limbs but the rear stab def makes a difference.
The point of a longer stabilizer and or side bar stabilizer is to calm down the pin float. He has good form and looks to be shape so he probably has the technique and back muscles to control his shot without one. NOW, someone who doesn’t shoot as much would really benefit from a longer stabilizer and weight out front. A longer stabilizer can instantly tighten groups for some/most. Buy one and make your own judgement.
LOL Loved the start of this vid. I just went from a CBE torx 11''front/7'' rear with a lot of weights, to a Quattro 15''front/10'' rear adjusting weights so it's really not making my setup any heavier. BIG difference.
I’ve done a similar test (not video documented) and it produced very similar results. I had a front and a rear stabilizer on.....talk about a lighter unit to carry with all that stuff gone!!! WOW.
Probably a little late but shooting longer distances magnifies your mistakes so you will get a lot more out of your practice if you do some long distance as well
How's it going now? Been 7 months since you posted this comment. And yeah I've been shooting for a week and a dude told me his last deer he killed at 90 yards.. fml
Don’t grip the bow with your front 4 fingers, it should sit between thumb and index finger at full draw and other fingers should be ahead of riser and not gripping it. Relax your front arm that holds the riser and make sure you have a consistent anchor somewhere on your face, don’t move arms around after draw everything should be anchored and only your form as one adjust to the target, count your breathing, assuming your bow is for the correct eye dominance and it has been setup properly tight groups at 20m are possible
The arrows seem to have the energy of a 40# recurve bow at 20 yards upon target, from 150 yards with the compound. Technology is a wonderful thing, and a game changer.
Interesting. I feel it is how stable your bow arm is to score. I'm still shooting with my 1995 Hoyt Alfa Tech 3D bow till today and have killed several wild boars with it. With or without stabilizer I can hit an orange or apple at distances up to 75 feet. I think it is how an archer grip the handle that is important. Thanks for your demonstration. I've never shot that far.
This video tells me that it's really for Olympic style shooting, and at 150 yards there are probably too many variables out of your control to make a difference. But for example the riser I just picked up is very neutrally balanced, so to adjust that I'd need to add weight, and by using a stabilizer with weights on the end, I can affect the balance more without having to add more weight.
Cough.. cough.. no wind. Don’t get me wrong, spectacular accuracy. Where I live has constant breezes, holding steady in the wind without a stab is possible, but tough.
I would have liked to have seen the stab vs no stab done at a more reasonable range like 60-65yds where grouping would have been more possible. It would have been nice to see how group size compares with and without a stab. The 150 yard shot seems like it’s either hit or miss. It’s really hard to be precise at 150. At a range that allows for groups to be shot, we could have seen how the stab effects precision shooting. Retest at 50 yds????
I have been shooting without a stabilizer for the past 4 months after beginning archery. I did notice that the bow was much steadier shooting at 80 yards compared to 45. I came to the conclusion that the tilt of the bow resulted in a more favorable center of gravity which assisted in a more favorable stabilization. I do wonder if the benefit of the stabilizer is negated at such a range due to the change of the center of gravity with the tilt of the bow. By no means am I an expert, but working with center of gravity has been a vital task in my profession. Regardless, I am very impressed with your accuracy with a bow. Well done!
Thanks for making this video, it seemed to me up until the last round the groups without stabilizer were slightly better. I was just wondering about this very thing stabilizer vs no stabilizer. I could see how the weight out front creates leverage to magnify torque rather than reduce it....just a theory though.
I would say a stabilizer is helpful for an average shooter you just have impeccable technique so you don't need one. I slowed down the video to .25 to see your technique and there is no torquing of the bow and its extremely steady and is definitely shows in your groups.
Seems to me that a stabilizer is a tool that helps the shooter. It also quiets your bow, but if your good enough to stablize yourself, you should have no issues.
Love the shirt man! oh yeah great trial and error video on to stab or not to stab. I feel my bow kicks to much without a stab and it also has a lean to the quiver to it. Do you hunt with out a bow quiver?
I did my own test at 150 yards. Results: 20 shots without stabilizer 0 hits. 20 shots with stabilizer 0 hits. So yeah. No difference.
You win
so funny. perfect~
LMAO
Ha ha, good 1
😀
I couldn't hit a semi trailer at 150 yds. This guy's an animal. Well done.
Yes you could lol

The most amazing part of the video is a non windy day in Wyoming!

Great vid, like the no messing about opening and clean straight video
Thanks for making this video, I really appreciate your time and effort.
Holy Shit. This guys Amazing
Hope ya have a good season Zach, Quiver full of hope.
What a great video! Thank you so much for doing that experiment! Valuable information!
He’s using the bowtech destroyer 340 if anyone’s wondering
Thanks!
It would be interesting to see it done again, but with a bow quiver in place.
yep.. I hunt with my quiver on.. its a tight spot and jammed right up against my hoyt roller guard, just clearing the limbs but the rear stab def makes a difference.
wow dude
i was in awe and jaw dropping the whole time
you excellent at this
Shooting is all about confidence...and training!
Awesome comparison good vid thanks Zack
Great vid. That’s what I needed to see.

dang. I'm just learning to be consistent at 20 yards!

@@HumanTimeMachine the riser?
Love the Backcountry hunters and Anglers shirt
Thanks! Me too ;)

That is incredible shooting !!
Legolas, what do your Elf eyes see?
I have never seen anyone wrap the index finger around the grip like you do that’s interesting very good shooting
Thank you for the nice work!
Getting dark is why you didn't shoot as good right there at the end!!! Awesome test!! I wasn't expecting those results
that and fatigue, i know it was only 30shots but he is walking 300ft to get his arrows each time lol.
You mean 300 yards each time.

I've recently dropped using a stab on a carbon defiant 34. Especially in the wind where the stap gets blown around more.
Each bow is different though
You are an insane shot bro. I do about the is good at 80 yards. Never tried this. Idk… maybe I can do it. I shoot a Mathew’s LX lol.
Dang! Nice shooting. Great video. Very interesting. I think your experiment was set up well.
It's what u are comfortable with that's what counts :) great video and good shooting

great thanks bud...good cardio on the shoot
You are a hell of a shot brother
I just got a 40 lb recurve bow I’m going to go deer hunting with it this year
That’s good shooting!
Thats great shooting
I don't think I could land that many arrows if not one at a 150 yard target ....stablizer or no stabilizer nice shooting man
Great job.. I think I’ll be good at my 20-35 without a stabilizer!!
Can you explain how you determined the appropriate place to draw a dot for 150?
How did you find a calm day. No wind that’s a challenge in Wyoming itself. Thanks for the video.
I have thought about tak8ng my front stabalizer off and just run my back bar because my sight k8nd of acts like a front stabalizer
You should try a V-bar set up vs without
just got back from opening day here in alabama and the mosquitoes are so bad this year. I feel your pain
Great shooting! Awesome vid!
Nice work, man! I would have spread them over a ten foot area at 150 yards!
I can't see anything at 150 yards!
Interesting results there!
Thanks for making this video, it seemed to me up until the last round the groups without stabilizer were slightly better. I was just wondering about this very thing stabilizer vs no stabilizer. I could see how the weight out front creates leverage to magnify torque rather than reduce it....just a theory though.
Are you ok around kryptonite?
Has anyone ever told you your brother looks just like you?
That’s very similar results at 150 yards.
I imagine at actual hunting distances the groups would be essentially the same.
You should try that with a better stabilizer setup
Awesome video
let's show this to Olympic style shooters with their broomsticks
Impressive shooting!
Nice shooting👍 awesome eye opening (for some) test. I'm not sure what's better - the comments or the video... You should post this on Archery Talk😎
I’ve owned several bows over the years, some of them I shot well with out stabilizers. My current bows I feel like they need to have them
Great video..
Props for doing this without a golf cart.
I'm more impressed by the blazers. I just love blazers. This proves it.
Nice work I enjoyed it!
Great video and I love the shirt. Go Pokes!
Good test thanks
Was there a guy hiding behind a rock 10 yards away shooting replica arrows?!!
That’s some fine shooting for sure!
its sad that we have to disclaimer "not for hunting distance". it gets so tiring sometimes. thank you for the video.
My favorite bow is ridiculously off balance without a stabilizer. It might help or not, but its much more comfortable.
Love it, nice work, I do similar hunting science experiments with my bow haha. Sweet video editing BTW 💪
I would say a stabilizer is helpful for an average shooter you just have impeccable technique so you don't need one. I slowed down the video to .25 to see your technique and there is no torquing of the bow and its extremely steady and is definitely shows in your groups.
Nice shooting
Rambo's cousin? badass shooting.
Seems to me that a stabilizer is a tool that helps the shooter. It also quiets your bow, but if your good enough to stablize yourself, you should have no issues.
Top notch!!!
Great video! Awesome hat by the way ;)
Im not there with a tape measure but the stabilizer isnt looking too good unless they pay you to use it...
I can’t see 159 yards what is going on here exactly
Do you have a magnifying lense in the sight?
I wanna move to Wyoming so bad..
So after all this what do you have on the end of your hunting bow these days.
Love the shirt man! oh yeah great trial and error video on to stab or not to stab. I feel my bow kicks to much without a stab and it also has a lean to the quiver to it. Do you hunt with out a bow quiver?
Science! thanks
ТЕСТ ТЕСТОМ, НО ЗАКАТ ПРОСТО ШИКАРНЫЙ!
Thanks for saving me some money on gear "I think I need"
Why do you put your vanes down so far on your arrows?
What’s your bow and what’s it set up at?
nice video! by the way what's brand compound bow u used? I never seen it befor.
Just retrieving his arrows is a workout. 😅
Color me impressed
Legolas, is that You!?
That is like my groups at 40 yards
Do you even lift bro?
If I could hit that constantly at 150 I would shoot a animal. Good stuff my man!
Try a 15 in front and a 10 on the back and actually balance your bow.
Dang! nice!
The real Green Arrow...
