Thank you for the video. You touched on areas that, unfortunately, many women of a certain age are facing. I know there are ups and downs. I also appreciate the reminder that “life is for the living”. Your channel is a gift Beth.
Hi Beth! being single in my 60’s is at once so fun and tiresome. Dating I really think it depends on where you live (any age) . Grief, it reminds me of smoke. Sometimes it surrounds you, sometimes it is blown away in a breeze and sometimes it is creeping under the door. Have a very Merry Holiday. 🎄
Thank you for this video, Beth. My husband is seriously ill. I am struggling terribly with everything and there are many other disturbing things happening in my life currently. Watching your older videos often since I just found you a few months ago. You bring a bit of fun and distraction to my life and I admire your charming, upbeat personality. ❤️
Thank you, Beth. I am 72. My husband of 50 years passed away in 2021 after a lengthy illness and I found your comments very relevant. For me, it is as if I have been transported to a different planet but I’m the same person. I don’t know if that makes sense. I am fortunate in that I decided to leave the home we lived in as well as the state and I moved across the country to live with my son and his family. My new surroundings in terms of weather, etc., are actually more suited to me than where we lived and I believe that helps a lot with my grief which I know will always be a part of me to some degree.
@@BethDjalali I respect those who have created a rich life embracing grief as part of their existence. It’s been a few months , and hearing about success moving forward helps. He would have appreciated our strength. Regards.
I was a widow at 56 after being married for 36 years. Now I am 63 and remarried now for the last 5 years. My advice take one day at a time. Rebuild yourself inside and out. I was not looking for someone and then a friend introduced me to my now husband. Life does go on and remember smile ❤
Hi Beth: as a widow of 12 yrs., I have to say you articulated what grief is well, and thank goodness you didn't say that old chestnut, 'move on'. If one is to be mature and intelligent emotionally and psychologically, you need to acknowledge and integrate profound loss into your life, which is not the same as dwelling on it. I also found that having a strong purpose in your life, that is an expression of you, outside of family etc., a pursuit that is about you and gives your life focus and meaning, is very helpful. Beth's entrepreneurship etc. is an example of what I mean. I became a novelist and publisher after my husband died, haven't won the Nobel Prize yet, but it keeps me interested and engaged, would be lost without it. Find your purpose in something that challenges you, a project from which you can learn and grow.
I agree with you Beth about grief. I lost my husband to a sudden massive heart attack July 21, 2019. We were married 53 years and he will always be a part of my life and in my heart as well.
What a class act you are! Very refreshing to hear your story and learn something of your life, work and family. I like your approach to fashion and your Q&A. Thank you and Merry Christmas Beth.
My home was built in 1972 and therefore my closet is quite small. I live in the South so I keep a small year round wardrobe in my closet and mix and match my pieces to create a Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer wardrobe by using accessories. I go through my closet each January. When I put the hangers back in the closet, I turn all my hangers backward on the closet poles. When January comes along the next year I can see exactly what I haven’t worn which helps me decide if I should keep the item or donate it. The only exception to this rule are coats, jackets etc.
You are so inspiring Beth! I just turned 60 and am facing retirement. I have been feeling really down about beginning my senior years but when I watch your vlogs I feel cheery and hopeful for this next stage of life. Thank you for sharing your wise advice with us ❤️
Thank you so much for talking about your experiences being widowed. I have been widowed twice since 2015. Your graphics on grief were spot on. They will help me describe to others the way I am handling my grief. Your take on fashion and lifestyle also have helped me move forward. Thank you!
This is your best video yet, just honest and open, such a good one for me to watch between Christmas and the New Year...we missed our Dad so much and he also died same month as your husband...I have been contemplating-- has the grief lessened? But your graphic!! Yes, that's it! The grief is a pervasive undercurrent of our lives, but joy has grown around it as life does move along. I was feeling guilty up until now but that graphic you shared nailed it and makes me feel so much better! I am going to share with my Mom, they were married over 50 years, and she is carving out a senior center life without him and trying to feel positive about everyday for her children and grandchildren. Great insight, Beth, and I would so look forward to other question answering videos! Thank you!
I lost my spouse in the summer of 2019. I agree with you-the grief stays the same, but once one begins to create a new life around the grief, the grief becomes bearable. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Beth💚! I have grown to love your videos! I too am a widow almost 11 years (my late husband committed suicide) I am 66 years old. Grief and suicide are like white elephants, very few people want to discuss it! Kudos to you for addressing, grief! I am working on a book in regards to dealing with grief as a caregiver or leader in the community as well as suicide, and how it affects those that are left behind. I’ve learned a lot of interesting things about dating on these new platforms that we did not have in the 70s or 80s. Mostly, we are not post that were widows on these dating platforms because it’s like a magnet for the scammers. Boy do I have stories about some of the scammers out there! If you ever want to do some interviews for the dating platforms are dating over 60 I would be glad to be one of your interviewees! Merry Christmas!
I've been a widow since I wàs 45, and I'm 61 now. Dating has been a challenge for me, but your video, I felt, mirrored a lot of the emotions and feelings I've experienced through the years. I feel like I've lived two lives -one with my Sweetheart of a husband, and another life without him. It takes a lot of fortitude to grow through grief. I truly enjoyed your explanation of the grieving process. Some days are okay and others are not. By the way, where do you live in Georgia? My late husband and I lived in Brunswick. I lived there until I moved to the Midwest to take care of my dear mama, who passed two Christmases ago. Now it's Georgia, here I come. I'm new to your videos and enjoy them very much! I'm so glad I found you. Happy Holidays!!
Hi Beth! Thank you for this video! I appreciate your straight forward honesty and the visual re: grief. I've never seen it put like that before. I've always enjoyed your videos! Have a blessed Christmas and I wish you every success in the new year!
Thank you so much for your authenticity - your graphic about growing and making your life bigger around the grief - is something I'm going to really chew on for a while. I needed that message. Thank you.
Love your advice on grief , very well said. As well, your advice on style is so true,I find as we age we tend to get into a RUT and we loose the FUN. Merry Christmas and looking forward to your channel in the new year!
Thank you for a very inspiring video,Beth! You exude positivity and resilience, whilst also being real and honest about your own life experiences and challenges. I especially like how you keep moving forward , while also appreciating the life you and your husband shared. For sure, he is guiding you along your new path and is with you every step of the way.
I always enjoy your videos. I am like you in that we never get over losing our loved ones, but we need to keep living You need to get a new normal and go through the actions even when your heart is not in it. Eventually, you establish a new normal. It takes awhile to get your passion back for things you have enjoyed in the past. I think God is so amazing how dating and all those same feelings are like when you are younger. I would love to see how you dress for your dates. I know you look amazing. You are a classy lady.
Hi Beth the red pant you wear in the PC I have one to ! you and I have something in common 😊so fun so enjoyable to watch your video! Thanks to light up my day 😘
Love your videos! I haven't checked out your blog yet, but plan to as soon as I finish this comment! My question to you is this: how do you meet people to date? I separated from a 23 year relationship just over a year ago, and I was initially devastated, but I'm tough stuff and quickly recovered, moved and started a new chapter. I love to dance so started going to the odd dance and took up dance lessons with a girlfriend. Other than that, I don't know how to meet people and I'm quite nervous about online dating sites. I always thought if you want to meet someone with compatible interests, you need to do those things. I love to garden, but that's not exactly a place to meet people either. Can you offer any suggestions?
I would consider online dating apps. And there are matchmakers too! But, yes, getting ourselves involved and out and about is key. Volunteering, dance classes, cooking classes are all great choices.
Such a great video! I really enjoy videos that cover lots of topics. Even though this was a Q&A video it wasn’t all personal to your life. That explanation of grief was so good. I’ve never heard it explained that way but it was so true! I also appreciated what you said about dating in your 60’s. I find myself single because of divorce. Although I’m not so interested in a relationship, maybe meeting new people would be fun. It gives me something to think about. Thank you for sharing your insights about life.
I can’t imagine dating again. I’ve been married since I was 19. My husband is still alive and well. But if anything happens to him. I think I would just like to live alone for a while. Maybe forever. I have three dogs. So they keep me busy. And renting a suite with all my grandkids would be insane. I have six grandkids that live close. They are ages 17 to 1. I’m not sure the one year old would stay with us. She might my husband. She see him more. I just had seven of them, plus my oldest granddaughter’s boyfriend, right before Thanksgiving. I needed two days of rest. I’m sure it would take me several cocktails to deal with them for New Years Eve. Plus, my oldest granddaughter is going to make me a great grandmother next July. I don’t feel that old. And I was a grandmother at 38. So I’ve been at it a while.
Thanks for the great videos. My mom is dealing with the loss of my dad right now after 71 years of marriage. It’s the hardest thing she (and I ) have had deal with in both our lives. I look at her and can’t help but think how would I handle the loss of my darling husband of 41 years. Both she and I met our soulmates in our teens. P.S. Are you going to stick with the longer hair or go back to the angled pixie? Both look good but I’m a total fan of your shorter look.
Thank you for this honest peek into your life! You also asked for questions… I wondered how you would address the topic of color choice for someone who has let hair return to its natural greying color. It seems most advice puts people in that category into a specific range of cool colors and veering outside that is a no-no. What are your thoughts and advice?
Thanks for the idea! I will share that I wear gold jewelry and neutrals like camel and beige. I think it's utter nonsense to put yourself in a style box just because you've gone gray. I like all the colors and wear all the colors. While some colors look better on me than others I'm not going to build my wardrobe on pinks, reds and purples. It's built with neutrals which stand the test of time.
Loyal fan for years now, you are a beautiful glowing example of courage and grace.🌹After losing my beloved fiancee, my women friends were incredibly supportive. Saluting our women friends! I would love to see what to wear on dates, I'm sure you would get a million views! Merry Christmas Beth🎄🎄🎄
I loved your description of the grieving process and the accompanying graphics. And, I must say I love your makeup in this video. I think a tutorial would be great!

I’ve never heard it explained that way but it was so true! I also appreciated what you said about dating in your 60’s. I find myself single because of divorce. Although I’m not so interested in a relationship, maybe meeting new people would be fun. It gives me something to think about. Thank you for sharing your insights about life.
I'm not so much interested in a relationship as much as I am in meeting someone new. And just having a bit of fun!
That illustration of the 'jars of grief' really hits the mark.
Nicely done. Happy holidays!

I really enjoy your graphic on grief. It is so apt.xx
Thank you Beth for the brilliant grief wisdom…. I have been slowly losing my mother over the past 5 years and this was very helpful❤❤❤🌻🙏🏻
It's so very hard to lose our loved ones. One day at a time. God Bless.
Thank you 💖
Thanks for the great videos.
Thanks for sharing. I do think about widowhood and how I would handle it.
It's a real possibility for all of us who are married. Hopefully, you won't have to experience it for a very long time.
Thanks Beth! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year🎉🎉💕🎄🎄🐾🐾 (Oscar too)!
You are so welcome! Merry Christmas!
I’ve been waiting for this video concerning dating and managing this aspect of our life
I'm finally ready to share. Thanks for watching.
PLEASE PLEASE make a video about dating in your 59’s & 60’s🎉🎉
❤Love your response to loss and living…
Limited amt of space?? 😅 ya need to see my teeny closet! Just came across your channel and love it!!!! ❤
Welcome!
God Bless Gabrielle. You know firsthand how hard it is to lose a loved one. Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, Beth! It's great that you're dating some, but I'm sure it seems quite strange too.
