Skiing Grand Teton, Mount Moran, and Middle Teton

- Climbing and skiing the three Teton Classic lines over three days. This was a lovely immersion into the Tetons and experience these lines in some of the finer conditions they can be in. A huge thanks go out to everyone on these mountains for their camaraderie - Specifically Zack Little and Will Howard.
The three lines in this episode are the Grand Teton’s Ford-Stettner, Middle Teton’s East Face to Glacier Route, and Mount Moran’s Skillet.
The Classic Flow is a multi-part series that will dive intimately into the journey of Michael Wirth (a 24 year old ski mountaineer) climbing and skiing 31 of the Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America in just a single season. I hope you subscribe to stay tuned into the many more to come soon.
I embarked on this journey due to the fear of imminent last descents among these lines. With the climate changing rapidly, our snow is disappearing in many places. As a kid from the Aspen Valley, I grew up with Chris Davenport’s, Art Burrow’s and Penn Newhard’s book, The Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America, looming as a distant dream. Cody Townsend’s FIFTY project has also been a sense of motivation and inspiration to take on the challenge of skiing a variety of these lines - what an adventure? Thus, I set out in January of 2022 to ski as many lines as possible in one season to discover what was possible from the logistic, technical and endurance capacities of myself.
Carly Valerious illustrated the animated intro sequence and worked with the talented editor Rainy Adkins to bring it to final animated form. I can’t thank these two enough for their work on this.

Savage endurance as usual. 💪💪
Wow, pretty stunning. And to do them all back to back? Mind boggling. Congratulations, and thanks for showing us the routes, those are great renders.
Thanks for the kind comment Paul 👊🏻
The drop in from Middle Teton - so dangerous! Also free climbing WI 3 with skis on your back. Thank you for sharing your skill and courage.
can't get any better. Congrats
Awesome as always Michael! Keep up the good work!
Amazing work as always. Can't wait for your next upload!
Easily the best vid of the series to date ..great vibes and a little fear perfecto
Have to say that I was on edge as you went of mt Moran. Don't know why, but seemed like you were a hesitant (with good reason!). Have to agree, best vid so far. Like your other moster trips, I need to go and lie down for bit!!
Bruh!
Just did another rip of Mt.Taylor Winter Quadrathlon (44 miles) on 2 gels and 5 sips of H2O…respect your one gel ascent/descent and still did what it took to set up
solo shots! Keep crushing’! You inspire me and my slayin’ Badass daughter Dewachen (15)! Thank you from Durango!
Cheers Steve!!!
Awesome-you are a machine
You're a madman and I love it.
You are always inspiring -- good stuff. Moran in one day -- what a haul.
Followed by 2 other big days. So crazy!
A beautiful haul no doubt. And the energy boost if the ski was definitely there!! 😊
that is impressivee thanks for sharing
Those 3 lines in 3 consecutive days in pow!?! That is one awesome effort.
Sick lines bud!
Well just added this to my bucket list
insane footage
This is so awesome! I've always wanted to get into ski mountaineering and touring though I don't have any mountaineering experience. I'm moving out to Jackson to ski bum, teach, and get my avy this winter so hopefully I can find some introduction!
Awesome stuff! Love your adventures. 3 big lines in 3 days is just massive!
Skillet isn’t even close to the longest continuous run in the contiguous US tho. Several runs on the volcanos - Rainier, Shasta, etc - are WAY longer. Rainier: summit>Fuhrer Finger>Glacier Bridge is an 11k descent, for example.
Tons of lines in Cali are around 8k too. Definitely not close to the longest.
Well well well. I guess it depends what you define as a line no? I think the beauty of Moran is that it is a sustained descent for 6k without morain rollovers and lolligagging cruise haha ;)
What is the longest line in North America? Is it in the Fifty?
@@michaelcwirth true dat

SKRONG
What is the name of the song in the intro sequence?
It's an original he did called "Cody can't do this".
@@teleyakco lol
@@teleyakco but i love Cody
It’s an unreleased song from Julian Dysart.
@@michaelcwirth
1. How can we get Julian to release it because it's a banger?
2. When are you and Cody going to collab on one of the 50 lines?
What happened to this guy?
Those fixed lines are disgusting (24:28). Sad to see them on America's alpine crown jewel.
Lol you're supposed to tele ski 😂
