im glad i found this video on my google search. my car after i cleaned the throttle body just now started doing this and i felt relief seeing this relatable video. i have a 1992 cadillac deville base with the same 4.9 V8 as this and i started experiencing this same problem where i stall off when i dont keep the throttle open manually myself just like in this video if it werent for you i wouldve thought my torque converter or timing chain quit or worse i would need to replace rods and valves and pistons. thank you for this video it was a direct analysis that otherwise had everyone stumped on my side of things even me.
The ISC motor - It's a unique system, a motor that pushes the throttle plates open to control idle speed. The northstar got the typical IAC to BYPASS the throttle body like most cars. I love the 4.9 and OBDI system. I had one of those things bust fully EXTENDED - 'sudden unintended accelleration'.

When I turn the car on and keep it in park it will idle and slowly increase the RPM's (jumps to about 900/1000). It will then show a E30 code which is the ISC. The ISC seems to be fine but the RPM'S is just jumping to high. Any idea's/Suggestions?

Turn ignition to "OFF". 6. Wait a minimum of 20 seconds. 7. Turn ignition to "ON" (engine not running). 8. Enter diagnostics.
We have a 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Hearse. V8 She is either wanting to lunge forward at a stop light or I have to turn off the AC to keep it from sputtering and then dying at the stop. would that still be the IAC or do I have a different issue? Thanks

Had to change the coil (which it was burn from the bottom)and rotor cap on my 1995 Cadillac deville but now the car cranks but it won’t start check the fuel pump and fuses and they where find any idea what it could be

Also, is the pintel on the IAC meant to be able to be turned in or out with pliers or something to sort of adjust it? the reason I ask is because I see less thread on it on the video than the one on my car.
Also if it is possible to clean it should i lubricate anything? Its a 4.1 liter v8 small block. Also if you can post a video on engine code e059 vcc problem
you picked the easy one, 94 Eldorado with a northstar much more difficult. I suspect mine is on its way out, I was hoping it would relearn itself after the battery was disconnected but it hasn't and I changed the exhaust to a louder one.

It's not an idle air control. It's an idle speed control. When you shut off car, you can hear it cycling for a few moments. Dealer wanted 500 box to fix high idle, I replaced for 90 bux.

Oh yea If you don't how to enter dianostics press down off and warmer button on climate control at the same time until all lights light up on dash. then release buttons.

My 88 Eldorado has one...code 27,after 2 ignition engagements, code will go away until next time. I have replaced the IAC, TWICE. These are a nuisance on all 4500,and 4900 V-8, y Cadillac.it was one of those things, that just doesn't last. Lubricating the plunger boot, will help...but ultimately, it needs to b a replaced again, a pain in the rear, but, it can e coaxed y your accelerater pedal. Temperamental. I have no intention of selling this one,rare, and overall is flawless.

could be the ICM. just replaced mine on my 93. do you stutter when you accelerate hard ? if so it's 80% chance of it being the ICM (ignition control module). the reason this happens is the module is responsible for sending spark to the cylinders but when it overheats (hot day or when driving for a while) it can't work as fast as it should and you get misfires and stalls.

i tried looking up on auto zone but the pic doesnt seam to have the needle thing ...that screw that keeps the idle up

It's an idle speed control.

mine makes the sound and when it's doing it my gas pedal moves when it's doing it

Just installed new computer in one i'm working on. Haven't done the procedure yet so can't comment.
