i am 59 years old and just joined a roller hockey league . Been on then 3 times now and just started league play . getting better each time . taking all the tips I can get
You’re an inspiration man. I get so many comments ask if their to old to start hockey. Normally from like 10-20 year olds. And your an example of hockey is for everyone
@@HockeyAdventures Thank you , much appreciated . I have 4 sons , we all play on the same team . They range in age from 21 to 36 It is certainly a blast for sure . I have ice skated most of my life but haven't played any organize hockey since my late teens / early 20's . I am though a regular on our city's outdoor skating rinks in the Winter and have been for years . In many ways roller is much different from ice skating , I am getting the hang of it and a great way to keep my ' skating legs ' over the summer months .
Yeah there is for sure an adjustment period when going from ice to roller or roller to ice. But you will get the hang of it. Also that’s awesome your playing with your sons. I played with my dad for a while. But since the pandemic things haven’t worked out for us to get into a league together again
I stumbled upon this great video and see my buddies Austin and Ryan from Antioch Indoor Sports. I haven't seen you two in years. I remember when I first came to the rink you guys were kids and helped me a lot. Keep the great videos coming Ryan. This is Clayton by the way.
@@HockeyAdventures Clayton Holmes. I used to skate at Antioch when you guys were playing for the River Rats. You, Austin, Graeme, Sam, Derek, Dylan, and the Carter brothers. I'm a big guy who used to come to a lot of puck and stick time.
Sadly I’m not sure. I’m positive if I saw you I would remember you. But still glad you liked the video and good to hear from a local. You still playing?
@@HockeyAdventures I played at Dry Ice in Oakland about five years ago and ice in Oakland downtown, but fell on my right shoulder and haven't played since. But I've had the sticks out and been practicing with my two sons. Do you still play in Antioch?
I absolutely love street hockey and this video is awesome. Also, I've learned how to use skates I'm still learning because I have muscular dystrophy. And I'm also learning how to balance. Wish me luck
Bro thank you for the tips and I'll be sure to practice them whenever I have free time at practice. This is a huge halo for me as I was wanting to go from basics to intermediate for a bit now.
Hey. I am having trouble with my transition turn. My skates seem like they are not turning in the direction i am moving even though i am leaning toward that direction. My skates feel like they are stuck in the ground and don’t move. I don’t know the problem. I hope this is clear enough!
So when I hear transition turn I'm imagining going from skating forwards to backwards while turning. A lot of making that transition. Its really about stepping and opening up your hips, moving your entire leg. Hard to explain over a message but this video should help with skating and turning ua-cam.com/video/pbRi5A-Zq74/v-deo.html
Indoor roller hockey is played on sports court. It’s plastic tile. If you do play outdoors use outdoor wheels and something like a wrap around to protect your blade. Here’s a video about street hockey equipment ua-cam.com/video/qDneZ2GrZKE/v-deo.html
I'm not the best at skating I can go forward and shoot but I fall sometimes and I can't really back skate I'm kinda nervous about being in even a beginners league
When skating bend forward and pretend like your pulling a rope...not swaying your arms from side to side .... and when you're crossing over always push off on your back foot you'll get more explosive and power out of your turns

Do you need a special floor for roller hockey or does concrete work?

What city is this filmed in?
You're thoughts on Mars blades please before I buy
