I’ve got the same hesitation between the lasernut and the Ryft. The question I’m asking myself is, what about the speed on dirt road in the Forest ? My son have the Baja rey Ford raptor and i want to go with him with a truck wich can do almost the same thing on roads, and off road, a little more fun... I don’t know witch one to choose. Help me. Please.
I absolutely love how you found a perfect location to shoot some running footage of this rock bouncer. As for the vehicle itself, I'm not sure the driving experience is for me out of the box. It seemed to roll and cog a fair bit. I'm not sure how fun it would be hiking the trails between the cool climbing / bouncing lines. I do like the concept of trying, trying, trying, and finally nailing a tough line though. The three differentials is an interesting choice. It certainly offers a lot of tunability and versatility.
The location is New England (CT) it's pretty much like that everywhere. I think Greg visits that NW hill a lot which is arguably the best our state has to offer. New England as a whole is one of the most diverse and beautiful areas of the country. (You can be at ocean or in mountains less than an hour drive.) Very European feeling regarding roads and property layouts etc. The area was heavily populated and being developed (Compared to the rest of North America) during the 1600's forward so we have a "non grid like" Indian paths that became wagon trails that became winding roads type of layout here. Densely populated on paper, but feels like you are uncrowded and rural at the same time. You can be 10 minutes outside of downtown in a 1.3 million city (Hartford) and be in the woods with deer, fox, turkeys and coyote in your backyard/woods. Very unique area of the country.
@@dirtrider88 The Hartford metropolitan area is 1.3 million people. That's how most cities are listed. NYC doesn't have 19 million people in the 5 borough city limits, nor does L.A. have 12 million people etc. FYI: Hartford city limits are one of the smallest in the nation, the city is only 17 sq miles. Great review & run Greg I'm pulling the trigger on the black one axial killed it again, I already have some upgrades laying around metal trailing arms, scale V8 engine over the battery, servo and rear sway bar, hey Axial a rear stear kit would be awesome!!!
I hope they come out with a builders kit I’m a fan of my own electronics even if I get this witch I’m thinking I need it but I will just take the electronics out and put in a sensored Holmes setup
same. I want a Reef's serv and a Holmes Sensored motor.... if the builders kit is 350-400, Id still spend 600-700 building it but at least the electronics will never break! The drivetrain seems beefy enough to handle whatever you want to throw at it..

Full runs full power!plastic doesn't like below 40 degress. That thing is wild. I been watching alot of the full size rock bouncer videos. Can't get much closer.
Newbie here. Sway bar pn? I ordered this vehicle last weekend and seen more vids. The torque twist seems to be the main problem with stability of this vehicle. A sway bar would help, yes? Being a fan of crawling..a rear steering kit would truly be an exciting upgrade. This will be the 2nd time I purchased a vehicle so close to its release date. I hope It's not like my ( LaserNOT). Over 200 on parts just to realize that they forgot to install a spacer/washer in the dif. Newbie mistake so I'll take 50% of the blame. Only drove it like 5 times. As of currently I've been waiting for a screw set for about a month now because they used a 3m x 45 button head with NO shoulder. Never again losi... never again. ON THE UPSIDE!! I truly LOVE my Axial Capra. Like my friend said, " If I get into a different kind of car, the axial ryft would be it and my friend John sent me the vid and wants one too. He doesn't even do rc. Lol. I thought the orange one was sexy for sure...frustrating fun. Hmmm maybe it will be more fun if it's just a dirt hill climber or something like that. Bunch of guys in our hobby group did that last weekend with snow on the ground this might have done well with some decent size wheels and tires. Or even stock.
Love the look of that- i watch a fair bit of the Southern Rock Racing, and most do have lights. They quite regularly have night runs. For 500 it really should come with built in lights. It's interesting that they chose to use spider gears in the diffs instead of lockers/spools. I like the switch and especially the battery tray. With all the noise this rig makes, they should have installed a v8 sound kit some how!!! Also some leds. Thank you for the sneak peak!! Have a great day !!!
Great review thank you. AXIAL, I WOULD like to see steering on the back too. I'm 75% committed to buying this. Rear steering capable... 100%. Looks awesome!

Awsome to see new rigs added to Axials lineup. How about a kit version with upgrades Axial? Don't forget us builders who probably won't ever buy a RTR. Great review! Looks like it needs locked diffs for sure though!

Out of the box the handling was poor at higher speeds. On asphalt, out of the box, it wagged all over the place. I turned the AVC all the way down (will disable later) and I remounted the back shocks directly onto the rear axle to cut down on the torque twist. Now it 's like a rocket. I still get the one front wheel riding off the ground when I give it full throttle on grass and it rolls fairly easily but a lot of that could be me. I just started with the RC crawlers and bouncers. It is a lot of fun, I get a good 25 minutes out of a regular 4S 50C 5000 mah battery when I'm hitting it pretty hard. I might try some of my old 3S batteries to see how they do.
Lol I am so far behind the times. Still have an Scx10.1 and Wraith Spawn. I didnt even know all these other newer models were out until I recently got back into the hobby.
As far as 4 wheel steer goes, a bomber or yeti ar60 axle will likely work, they are universal left or right. And like on the bomber it runs trailing arms already so it will be easy to convert
Interesting, I have an Axial RR10 which I haven't really used as much as I had planned (life/child gets in the way). This looks to have a lot more suspension travel. I bought the kit version of the RR10 so all metal gears and suspenion parts/extra metal bracing. Love it when I do get to drive it and I must have it geared quite low plus only running on 2S, don't remember the KV of the motor I used (maybe 3200), still fast enough to have fun yet I can just crawl it over rocks with barely any wheel spin. I get something like a 20min run time even running flat out on grassy but steep terrain. My first steering servo stripped out straight away; bought a good metal geared one and never had a problem since.
What I really liked about the Wraith, that I haven't seen on any other rig, were full bucket seats with floor boards, just a bit more realistic and I can put my own figures in. : ) But this look like a well built truck.
I just bought an LMT and a Lasernut over the weekend. I want this sooooo bad. I really feel like we're in an r/c Renaissance where every month something groundbreaking comes out.
I was just about to order a gmade r1 rock bouncer from great hobbies. Now that I see this I may reconsider. One plus about the gmade is that there is a full option kit for rws. Plus I want a kit version. Decisions decisions...
I feel like the steering rod on the front is going to be the first thing to ben or break. It's the first thing that will hit a rock. Kind of pointless having a metal differential cover on the front. Idk I'm pretty new to the rc world but that was my first thought when I saw it.
Should of came with a censored motor. That would make this thing way better. Hobbywing axe foc system would make this a animal. It sure made my trx4 30x better!
I definitely would like to see a rear steer kit When I first heard about this vehicle before I saw it I was positive it would have rear steer But I was disappointed to find out it does not
@@rcdriver axial should offer those tires and wheels as a pre glued set of 4. I wonder if I can cut my scx24's boggers with that pattern? I also think a trail truck build with that drivetrain would be cool, I like 14 bolt axles. Anyways, good review on a really cool rc 🤘
great video, great review, love your new workshop.....please do a follow up video after you have owned it for awhile, as a rule of thumb, I don't buy an RC vehicle until it has been out for a bit, I like to know what the "weak" points are. Thanks keep up the good work.
This thing is sweet. Now here’s hoping but imagine a larger scale of this kind of like what they did with the Yeti xl? This would be awsome in a 1/8 size for me
Looks like a super fun rig! I just hope those aren't the same trailing arms as the SMT10/wraith. They break super easy, will def want to add the aluminum plates asap. Other than that, looks like a solid build.
Scratch that, just saw the broken axle part of the vid, LOL! Looks like it need axle tube inserts just like the SMT10. To be fair, Ive been breaking a lot of plastic in the cold too but that didn't seem like a big send at all. I'm trying to build a solid rig for exactly this kind of driving. So far Ive broken a lot on my Rock Rey but changing to a lighter UDR/Hyrax wheel/tire setup seemed to help a ton.
Fantastic detailed review as always! Quite new to the scene so this kind of vehicle seems quite niche to me but nice to see that there are options for everyone. For me it would be more fun to do that 40 minute walk with a crawler and then still tackle those rocks but with a more surgical manor. Was surprised that even just the rear diff wasn't locked from factory but maybe that replicates real life??
You can see some Losi goodies on there now too, the bump stops for the shocks and hub/brake rotor setup all look like the Baja Rey, minus the mounting.
I do have one question, is that servo analog? Kinda seems like it. Im hoping not though, AVC will burnup analog servos, says it right in the manual. I couldnt find specs on that servo anywhere.
I'd really like to get one of these with 4 wheel steer. When I see them come out with that option I'll be at the hobby store the next day. Really cool but I need 4 wheel steer.
Put these axles under the SMT 10 please... Good having unlocked diffs on a bouncer to save you from breaking your axle shafts Good having center diff so you don't flip over on hill climbs...
Not that this a deciding factor in any way. My 10 year old wants to know if it will do a brody without flipping over? Lol great videos , Thanks! Keep it up!!

Nice thorough review Greg! Thanks for showing us some action on the hills!
Thanks Mathew!! It was a 45 minute hike to get to that spot. My workout for the month is complete.
Kind of weird they put a sensorless system on it. For a bouncer I'd prefer more precision in the slower speeds.
thats not a rock bouncer. that's a rock crawler. a rock bouncer does not go slow, ever.
Been waiting for a bouncer for years especially with a plastic cage to beat on. Excellent review as always can’t wait till it’s out thank you!

This will be my next just ordered the losi Lasernut can't wait 1/29/2021
Those tires are f'n awesome, I needs them. Y'all have a badass day 🤘
They’re pretty awesome. You can hear them really gripping at the second half of the action segment.
I really enjoyed your review thank you. Got me to subscribe
I’m already wondering what it would do with a locked rear and heavier diff fluids! Great rundown! 🤘🏼🏁
What do the different fluids do
Great honest review 👍👍👍👍
The position of the esc is killer
love your videos from France !!!
That looked fun! I have a bomber I do that with
This thing is sweet. Now here’s hoping but imagine a larger scale of this kind of like what they did with the Yeti xl? This would be awsome in a 1/8 size for me
Wow I'm impressed with the transmission gears. Other brands could take notes
Yeah, it was nice to see all metal, including the spur!
@@rcdriver They look like mod 1 gears, too, or at least mod .8. Not little 48 pitch things!
Would be nice with remote locking diffs :D
Fantastic detailed review as always! Quite new to the scene so this kind of vehicle seems quite niche to me but nice to see that there are options for everyone. For me it would be more fun to do that 40 minute walk with a crawler and then still tackle those rocks but with a more surgical manor. Was surprised that even just the rear diff wasn't locked from factory but maybe that replicates real life??
They will have a spool available for it. They went with diffs because they felt it would fit the general user/ basher better.
awesome review..... yeah, really can use some thicker lube in the diffs.....
Yup, getting some influence from inside resources.
I'd really like to get one of these with 4 wheel steer. When I see them come out with that option I'll be at the hobby store the next day. Really cool but I need 4 wheel steer.
awsome reveiw like every time , great work again and again !!! :)
Smart move by Axial! There are folks who have tons of hill’s with no rocks
Rear steering and servo controlled lockers would be awesome
Put these axles under the SMT 10 please...
Good having unlocked diffs on a bouncer to save you from breaking your axle shafts
Good having center diff so you don't flip over on hill climbs...
Nice review. Rear steer Axial!
Not that this a deciding factor in any way. My 10 year old wants to know if it will do a brody without flipping over? Lol great videos , Thanks! Keep it up!!
I will get one of these, hopefully they do a roller. Think they should have used a sensored brushless system, low speed control wasn't great
I have an Scx10 ii and 24 that are pretty tricked out. They're nothing like this. But I love this
Yes. Get rear steer. I did that with the scx24
