The ready to run Ryft has proven to be a blast to drive and now the popular machine is available as a build kit. The cool part about a kit is that you get to build it, so you’re familiar with every component and you get to install the electronics of your choice. We were able to get our hands on one and Greg will take you through an unboxing of the kit so you can see exactly what is inside. He’ll also go over some differences between the kit and the Ready To Run and there are certainly some worthy parts in here to talk about.

Dude i just ordered one for me. my first build was back in 1986 when i built the RC-10. im looking forward to my build. i watch your RTR and makes me looking even more to the rig. so excited. but ill be taking my time, and no hurry. well... thats what i say now. thanks for the vids. ill get back to ya when i have it ready to rill. thanks again.

I want it. To me that grey looks SO much better than orange/black. Plus you can dye it! Happy to see the 2 speed included as well. Hopefully people will give this thing another look. It had a tough launch.

Nice build Greg. I have bought both coloured RTR RYFT’S.I couldn’t decide which colour I liked best, so l bought the orange and the black one. I’m glad they finally released the kit build version. I’ll be looking forward to getting that and doing a build version of the RYFT that’s different from the RTR version. I watch your UA-cam channel all the time. I had alot of fun building mine , I and a smaller esc and motor in didn't like so put a Mamaba X and 1406 motor and this flys also put bead locks on stock tires only running 2s now going to try 3s !!

Bought the orange rtr ryft after waiting for the kit. I really like mine. Too many people think this thing is a basher. It’s great at its intended purpose.
I agree. Part of the fun is finding the right location to use it, picking the right line and attacking the hill like a real bouncer.
Look like a very nice kit comparing to the RTR version. At least it comes with the 2 speed transmission, the trailing arms aluminium plates and the mostly needed sway bar. Really wish Axial has included these parts on the RTR version as the RYFT RTR is not cheap. I wonder when the official Axial RYFT sway bar will be available in my country, really looking forward to it as running 4s is really unstable at the moment and I am speaking on behalf of all of the RYFT owners.

Awesome a builders kit I've been waiting I ran my buddy's rtr it needs sensored brushless for my preference, do your RC DRIVER logo with a hill in the background on the body panels, you mentioned dipping the cage in dye do you have a how to video? great product release thank's for always being precise 😉👍

Oh, I have also noticed they have not included the pivot balls for the 2nd slot at the bottom of the front suspensions. And for the colour scheme, I think it will look very cool and different if you dye the cage to Ironman metallic red and the body panels to matt gold, just a suggestion.
Yes! I noticed that during the build but forgot to mention it. Oddly enough the screws were included for the pivot balls.

Nice kit and vid. Waiting for someone to come out with a 1/18 or 1/16 scale of this type of vehicle. Or if anyone can recommend an existing platform to build up from. I hike or mtb to my RC spots and need something to fit into my backpack.
Would look great black chassis with outlined drivers , leave clear panels with multi color leds. Color changing while driving.
What grease does he use on when he put it on the circle part in the first part

Does it matter what servo you put on the two speed transmission could it be the same servo as the steering servo

Really happy about the sway bar.. Are they going to start putting that on the RTR? That's what's stopping me from ordering a Ryft 🤔😄
I wear my PL hat everywhere! 🤩 Not sure if Axial will include the swaybar with the RTR. It is an easy option to install though.

you can crawl if you run a low kv motor and vitavon makes a mirrored rear axle for 4ws.

Hey I'm building my daughter one right now what electronics did you end up going with I was throwing a spektrum system in out of an old truck and don't think it's going to be right for this truck what do you think of the copperhead 10 with the 2400kv motor setup??
I think I’m gonna take out the interior... they look a lot cleaner.. just my opinion but great build! I’d keep it the black and grey...

A hobbywing 2600kv 550 motor and esc combo has huge power.
Can you run 2 speed transmission and just manually shift it from hi to low.

Oh my gosh I want this. And I want to get one for someone else. It’s pre-order do you know when it will be out. And what your honest opinion on a motor/esc combo for it would be? I love your videos Brother and you have a great eye for the review details. Your Konghead video was what inspired me to get one.
I’m probably going Tekin with the Motor/ ESC combo. Holmes Hobbies is an extremely close second.
What does the spool do?
I'm pissed that they have released this kit with diffs and spools but they're not available anywhere to purchase anywhere for guys that bought the rtr months ago. We are stuck with epoxy for diffs. Hopefully the new ones are a heck of a lot better than the ones that come on the rtrs.
Great video, This thing looks awesome. The only this the bothers me is the servo on the axel. Just the look of it. When i get it, im going to figure out how to hide it more.
What are you thinking? Some sort of cover-plate? Or a BTA setup? 🤔

Nice a kit, but all the development with the hobby still the only company that had a stab at no horrible steering servo either on the chassis, sort of acceptable but servo on the axle I really dislike and Capo's cable steering was out there but works, takes a bit to set up and needs regular maintenance but come on out there do something NOW, it would be such a HOT sales point and would get me putting my hand in my pocket more often.
Hi. Really great quality video. Im gonna use: Arrma BLX185esc and Arrma 2050motor. Teamcorally OC27 Servo. Spectrum DX3 remote and Spectrum SR6100AT reciver. Dont know about the small servo for the transmission. Any suggestions? Best Regards from Denmark
The manual calls for the Spektrum SX107 which comes with the spline adapter. Or Reefs RC has a good micro servo that I believe can be adapted.
@@rcdriver Hi. Thanks! The good news is that the Spectrum mini servo is in stock at my local shop. The bad news is there's no know date for delevery of the truck. As all my 3 kids are driving RC I think this build will be great to learn them how an RC is build up and hopefully will teach/learn them a little more about the mechanics behind it all. And it will be great to build it together as a family project. Looing forward.

Dumb question, but since this is now offered in a kit. Would this be worth turn into a crawler “hybrid” so to speak. I’m just now venturing into the crawler/trail rider scene and love the look of this ryft!
The thought had crossed my mind about tweaking it to crawl because there seems to be a lot of interest about its crawling ability. It’s kind of wide and long for stability and it’s weight bias doesn’t seem to be suited for crawling. But much of it can be overcome with some custom work. If you really want it as a crawler, I say go for it. It might not be the most capable, but I’m sure it will be fun.

Do you have to dye it? am wondering if you can paint it instead it would be better
Dye impregnates into the plastic whereas paint only adheres to the surface. When you roll it, a painted cage could scratch or chip and you’ll see the grey underneath. If you scratch a cage has been dyed, you wont see the original color peeking through.
I haven't seen a Yellow one yet.
Why doesnt it come with a motor and servos and stuff ? So you can build it then just put in a battery and ready to go

Would speculate the rear trailing arms are probably compatible with the RR10 Bomber arms, if so there are tons of upgrade options. The need for the sway bar reminds me of the RR10, almost useless without it. Got rid of my RR10 and built a Capra, much better truck.
The trailing arms on this rig are longer than the Bomber. But aftermarket companies are working on options.

I was disappointed with the Ryft. Sold it and bought the Corally radix 4. It’s £150 cheaper, miles better made and loads more fun to drive. 👍👍👍

My Ryft has been an absolute piece of junk since day one, $500 for the RTR, now with the binding and diff issues I'm gonna have to sink at least another 300 in it

No servo splines for different brands? That’s idiotic.. and a bit nasty to boot.. brand-locking those that aren’t aware of more options than the spektrum crapola..
It’s the same for the SCX10III and Capra, it’s not really a new thing, just thought I’d mention it. Modelers have come up with solutions to adapt other servo brands.

The internal diff gears are tight. Not the ring and pinion or driveline. The main driveline spins free.
First
the Ryft is 1 problem after another. like the first gen wraith. the plastics soft and strip out easy. As an experienced RC enthusiast I do Not recommend this to anyone.
I stripped out one screw hole building this kit and it was my fault. I had the Makita driver clutch set on 10 for an M3x10 when it should have been set on 1.
exactly the kind of untrustworthy FAN BOY Shite that made me Unsubscibe from your Channel. My GRYFT has sat idle for 2 weeks now because the Diffs have failed and there are no replacement parts and no locker spools. You cannot be trusted for an honest review.
