Three years later. . . My Ryft is still going strong. Always 3S… didn’t really need the extra 4S punch. Only breakage was several 4-link ends. Super easy fixes.
The car is kinda perfect. It’s a semi-scale rock-bouncer and it just just a ton of fun.
U have the BEST location for the Ryft & the best video of the Ryft I've seen so far. I've taken mine out to our normal rock crawling area & it just eats up the terrain. Took it to a 4x4 clay area & definitely more at home with the tougher conditions. LOVING my Ryft. Looking forward to watching more of your videos 👍
I totally agree. It is an awesome rig. I run mine on 4s and have only broken a rod end. You definitely need to drive it responsibly.

What an amazing RC spot.
They released a statement regarding the axel breakage and it was a bad batch of plastic so the new ones should be a lot tougher.

Just came across your channel. I also have a small channel. That's one of the best ryft videos I've seen. I totally agree on the esc fan. I've had to shake debris out several times. I like it on 4s. Being totally overpowered is what makes it so fun. I also do crawlers! Just subbed!

My Christmas bonus for this year is going to go towards a Ryft. Hopeful the wait will mean the lockers and sway bar will be in stock when i order it. Great video it looks right a home in that terrain.

I just finished up my Ryft build yesterday... a bit of tuning today and it'll be ready to rip (ready to ryft??). I'm going to be in St. George for most of November hanging out near Sand Hollow so I'm looking forward to running the Ryft and my crawlers there. I've done most of the trails already in my SxS... will be fun to do some with these! I was thinking The Maze would be a great place to start.
I run my Ryft with 4S. I am going to run in some local competitions that I can only run 3S. An anti sway bar makes a world of difference with the torque twist.

Running my ryft on 4s/50c, I haven't broke an axle yet, but I keep cooking the diffs. So far I've put a locker in the rear and in the centered diff inside the tranny. She riiiiiips hard! Possibly the funniest rc I've owned

I'll never put a 4s in mine again. Broke a 4 link straight away to much power for the parts used
Currently running 3s on my Ryft. Managed to break a rod end and just recently a front axle housing... I know I know you are probably thinking I torture my RCs, but honestly I will say it has taken some good hits, but I would not say I beat it super hard. Hoping axial comes out with some stronger parts. I can only imagine the damage that could be done to this truck if not handled carefully on 4s
I bought a 3s battery for when I get one, but I like to be able to use the throw of the throttle and don't care for rigs over tuned like that. More trouble than it's worth to me.
I run a 3s lipo (Smart battery) in my Ryft
I use a 3s lipo. I hit a tree at full throttle and only the rod ends broke. Not the axle.

What do you think, is it possible to convert this thing into a 2.2 Crawler...35T Brushed Motor, 3S and locked diffs? Yeah I know, there are better options, just curious.
Sure, you could. That’s what’s fun with RCs. You would probably want a lower gear transmission
I wish you would build a ryft for crawling, they are super capable set up right...but you do have to bump up stuff a lot because of break overs 😂
Its not the esc that has the gyroscope. Its actually the receiver. Which works well when it works. However, it doesn't work great all that long or all that often. The esc and motor are decent though. The first batch of the ryfts really had axle issues but the second and later runs didnt quite have as many issues. I actually use 4 and 5s with mine. It's a horse with a mamba x and 2700kv puller pro from Holmes hobbies.

This is Sand Hollow, Utah. It’s an amazing place. Red rock, dunes, and a lake. All in one. If you check out Matt’s off-road recovery, you can get a real sense of how awesome this place is.

How long do batteries last these days? I haven't driven an rc for 25 years. Back then battery life sucked and I wanted to get a petrol powered rc.
Depends on the car. A crawler is 3-4 hours with a 5000 mah pack. Fast cars closer to 45 minutes to an hour with a 5000 mah

I've had mine for two weeks and with less than 5 hours of drive time and many many things breaking, My best advice is DO NOT BUY A RYFT. I can not say it any clearer, the RYFT is a $500 buy in for a $1200 RC car if you want to drive it for what it is trying to simulate. There are so many other things wrong with this RC the Breakage is only the START.
