I am from HK, i'm also so impressed with that Doughnut too. a local recommended this Doughnut store to me while i'm paying my visit to Taipei too, that was so nice when it is hot.
really appreciated the sweet act of rewarding the man who recommended with one of those.

Try eating the pineapple bun with butter immediately with the butter still cold and the bun hot. That's the whole point of pineapple bun with butter - crispy and hot on the outside and cold on the inside. it's the contrast of texture and temperature that makes it special. don't let the butter melt. that's how it's eaten in Hong Kong (used to have it a lot but I got too chubby I have to lose the butter 😅) A lot of snacks are great in the night market. taiwanese pork sausages, sweet potato balls, sweet desert soup with taro balls and grass jelly, stinky tofu...

When you started your morning off with a good cong you bing breakfast - thats how I knew your day was going to be awesome from then forward. ❤🇹🇼 Every time I am in Taiwan it is tradition to hit up as many small coffee shops as I can and load up on the individual pour-over coffee packets especially if they package their own brand/roasts. Nice latte art as well.... done and done! The best part about the pineapple buns is when the butter is still a bit soft and not completely melted - like the bun and a big 'ol pat of butter in one bite is heaven.

Hotels in Taiwan are too expensive, but most of them are clean and safe. Just pay attention to traffic safety. There are also a lot of delicious food in the night markets. And yes, everyone knows Pokémon 😆 .I hope you two have a great time traveling in Taiwan.
PS:There are some Board Games Store selling Pokémon Cards (or 7-11、Family Mart),but not all the time

Brown sugar bubble tea is not a western thing. But more like a modern thing. You will find it in modern bubble tea shops or chained stores. The one you went to is a traditional mom and pop shop that they sell blended juices. Bubble tea is not their specialty, hence no brown sugar. ❤

Speaking of gondolas, when I was in Sydney at Taronga Zoo I took the gondola back down and in front of me was a Middle Eastern family who's kid was scared of heights. It was very busy and as soon as the doors opened the father and uncle just picked up him and chucked him in the gondola and held him until the door's closed. It was kind of funny to see and I felt sorry for him but a very practical solution

Don't worry, whatever it's called is right, unless you call something a country. Everyone was happy not to talk about him. Don't be influenced by these political factors. Have a good trip. Whatever Taiwan's prefix is called, it's always right to call Taiwan.
