I found the room mic effect was high really. Had to reduce it quite a lot and also the reverb overall to get it how I like it. Then I recorded each sample one shot and imported them to my DTX Multi 12 percussion!
A drummer after my own heart. I used to do that sort of thing with one shots and my td17 module! Any reason why you dont want to just trigger the VST live with the DTX?
Your channel and this video are really cool! I missed the demonstration of the sound of the octobans. There are few vsts that have octobans, so it would be good to show them. A suggestion please, it would be really cool if you make a Mixwave Brooks Wakerman video! Thanks man!
Thanks so much for your comment! Ye I want that too, hopefully soon -- I dont have it yet. I know, I realized after I uploaded I forgot to play the octobans! I just saw your channel and your channel looks excellent, great production and playing!
I have the mixwave Daniel fang kit for logic that I play through my Roland vad103, and I’m having a ton of cymbal triggering issues. Things not triggering, things choking randomly, what seems like extra hits. I thought I mapped everything correctly but maybe not? Any tips?
Hi! First, see if this happens with just your module sounds playing. If it does not happen when playing with just the drum module, I would see if you can use a MIDI event viewer. Like Reaper's MIDI Logger plugin, which allows you to see every MIDI data event that comes in when you hit a pad. That will tell you if the module's MIDI output is sending out double triggers or missed triggers. If that looks normal as well, you might need to examine your audio interface situation and see if you need a better audio interface that can handle the audio processing happening.
LOL hey mope! Im still here, took a mini vacation of sorts haha -- ive finished recording for a BFD Player expansion review and rating video! What do you think, should I do that first or do a part 2 of the free drums video? That would obviously get more views of course. You doing well over there?
@eDrumsandVSTs yes I'm good thanks! Do what you think is best! I did a new Ozzy one and it was blocked worldwide (Sharon?) 😆 Anyway yeah that never happened before. We need workarounds for this also lol. Hope you enjoyed vacation
@@maidenmopar thats crazy...i have heard of some few artists and management who do this. its on rick beato's chanel, he did one with Don Henley. But yes probably sharon's fault. LOL
I bought this and use it on my A2E, absolutely love it. Hands down best samples Iv ever heard. I had been using ez drummer 3 with some death metal expansion packs, sounded good, but too processed. Only thing I’m not satisfied with is the hi hat function, Iv tried multiple times to map it and it just is not smooth from tip closed to all the way open. EZD3 makes it effortless and it works perfect. Also, cymbal choke and mute is not working well, it works when I grab and hit at the same time, but it seems to trigger it on the bow of the crash cymbal, so if I am hitting it on the edge and accidentally hit the bow, it mutes. Hoping it’s just user error and I figure out the solution, but other than that, it’s so fun. Tom’s sound so good, same with snare, the whole kit is just perfect
Its VERY fun to play. I love high toms too, and this has it in spades for sure. The hihat is decent, as Mixwave libraries go. Unfortunately it won't be as smooth as Toontrack's stuff. But it's decent. If you want a lot of control, you can try the hihat script I made a video about, which is for Reaper (the DAW), found here: ua-cam.com/video/P5WG-WKGt44/v-deo.html
Wowwww very cool video! Looking to buy a starus prima from Alesis together with this pack. Sounds killer!! Do you have any recommendation videos on how to setup an e-drum to trigger drums via vst on a laptop?
Thanks so much for your feedback. That Prime kit looks awesome! Let me know how it works for you. I did a video about a month ago that gives a relatively comprehensive guide on that subject you asked about: ua-cam.com/video/ivfKKT8XAbg/v-deo.html&t
Hi. I got the Mixwave Tony Royster jr. kit and I was quite disappointed. Yesterday, I grabbed the ML Sound Labs ML Drums Essentials. I love the different snare tunings.
Hey man, yes the Mixwave stuff isn't for everybody for sure. ML Drums is the best pure value especially for metal drums. But I've been seeing people play ML with funk and it sounds great there too. Hope you're well.
@@eDrumsandVSTs Do you know the Tony Royster jr. Mixwave samples. Just 4 or 5 velocity layers. 😞 No aftertouch chokes ... Anyway, it is a nice toy. I mean, I am quite spoiled with the SD3 samples and possibilities. This Royster pack was still 100€ (equal to ~ $100) This Mangini pack, does it support AT chokes? Damn, these guys no how to catch customers. As a huge Dream Theater fan I will, sometime, get this pack! 😕
@@eDrumsInANutshell I have no idea why they dont have AT choking. It's crazy. No AT chokes in Mangini either. Of course SD3 is cream of the crop, EXCEPT for giving people that processed, album/mix-ready drum sound out of the box (despite some very nice presets it has). I think SD3 is for those who know how to take those amazing raw samples and process them to fit their needs. But dont get me wrong, SD3 is the top of the heap for realism. Only some BFD3 expansions have come close, to me.
@eDrumsandVSTs Damn, SD3 sounds so good. At first, I thought, hmmm, for me tiny amateur drummer, this is definitely to much. But it is so nice choose from the different room mics, set the bleeding or biulding stacks or.... the velocity curve for each articulation. AND I really learned a lot about this whole stuff. Mic setups etc.
With regard to the damn missing AT choke I was about to write a script in Kontakt to have at least a fast fade out for the AT message...but I quitted. If there is someone here who may have a guess about that, please let us know.
Thanks buddy -- you dont absolutely need an interface, although it helps. If you have a drum module that can act like an audio interface like Roands can do, you can use your module as the interface. You would go USB cable from module to the computer. Or, you can just go USB cable from the module to the computer (like before) and use your built-in sound hardware on your computer. This is not the best route, but you will need to use ASIO4all. Please see my video called "A-Z Guide on Connecting/playing edrums on a computer" ua-cam.com/video/ivfKKT8XAbg/v-deo.html
