Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (also referred to simply as Legally Blonde 2) is a sequel to the 2001 film Legally Blonde and the second film in the Legally Blonde series. It stars Reese Witherspoon (who also served as the film's executive producer) alongside an ensemble cast featuring Sally Field, Regina King, Jennifer Coolidge, Bruce McGill, Dana Ivey, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Bob Newhart, Luke Wilson, and Bruce Thomas, with Coolidge, Wilson, and Thomas reprising their roles from the first film.
After graduating from Harvard Law School, Elle Woods is excitedly planning her wedding to Emmett and hopes to reunite her Chihuahua, Bruiser, with his mother. However, her world takes an unexpected turn when she discovers that C'est Magnifique, a cosmetics company represented by her law firm, uses Bruiser's mom for testing. Elle's plea to drop the company falls on deaf ears, leading her to embark on a new mission.
She relocates to Washington, D.C., to champion Bruiser's Bill and animal rights. Initially met with skepticism and sarcasm, Elle works for Congresswoman Victoria Rudd. Amid the ups and downs of politics, including a failed attempt to promote positivity among her coworkers, Elle's idealism wanes. A surprising revelation about Bruiser being gay and forming a bond with another dog owned by Congressman Stan Marks changes the game. Discovering that Congresswoman Libby Hauser is a fellow sorority member, Elle gains influential allies.
However, Elle uncovers Rudd's deceit, as she caters to a campaign donor named "Bob" who supports animal testing. Thanks to Rudd's Chief of Staff, Grace Rossiter, Elle gains the upper hand through blackmail, forcing Rudd's support for Bruiser's Bill. With the help of her friends, Elle's discharge petition succeeds, bringing the bill to the House floor. The dogs held captive by C'est Magnifique Corporation are freed. In the end, Elle and Emmett marry in D.C., and Elle playfully contemplates their future in different cities, with a sly wink at the White House.

💯 agree! The first 1 is awesome, the second one is not good at all!!! I feel like the growth that she achieves at the end of the first movie, is completely lost for the sake of just making her look like a dumb blonde again 😢
Honestly: I never watched the second. Why ruin a nice memory with an unnecessary successor?
And the third _(oh yeah, there IS a third in the franchise)_ went straight to DVD, so...I haven't seen that one either _(and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone)._
I’m sure I saw and interview once with Reese Witherspoon said she only agreed to do the second film if a clause was put in her contract where she got to keep all the shoes her character wears 😂

There were a few cringe moments in the first. There are a lot more in this one.

Yeah, sadly I agree with your feelings on this one. Reese is trying her best with the material she's been given, but the script and handling of the themes just don't feel as clever, fresh, and heartfelt as the first movie. I honestly wish they'd spent like another 6 months tinkering with the screenplay, making sure it was up to the standard of the first film.
Would love to see you watch A Cinderella Story, it’s a great film plus it has Jennifer Coolidge as the step mother and she’s hilarious as always 😂 also stars Regina King, Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray 👍

what I actually love about these movies is how supportive all of Elle's friends are - in both movies - no matter what she wants to do, they back her up and do what they can to help out - it's a good message that is consistent throughout and something we could all do with learning a little more
What I like about these Legally Blonde movies, is that Elle Woods didn't lose herself. She still have her quirky personality, her light still shines brightly despite the stereotypes and prejudices thrown at her. It takes a solid self-assured person to be this steady and confident.
Movies don't always age well. One of the things you have to remember is that 20 years ago, many of the issues that are in this movie were very topical. This is just 2 years into Hillary Clinton's first term as Senator. Additionally, we had a very different relationship to animal rights than we do today. Marriage equality hadn't even happened until the next year in Massachusetts and didn't become the law across the USA until about 13 years after this movie. So, at the time, this movie was very much about the Zeitgeist.
Yeah political wokeness kills movies, no matter the year.

@@drewpaupanekis4710 That's ridiculous. There are only two ways to truly change someone's mind. Either they must have an experience or art. People make decisions in emotion and not facts. Books and movies have always had an effect on people. Philadelphia change the AIDS discussion. Broke Back Mountain changed the discussion on Marriage Equality. Uncle Tom's Cabin changed the discussion on slavery. Hell, for 50 years now Hollywood has made the US government the big baddy in movies and now many Americans breathlessly and stupidly live in a constant state of conspiracy suspicion.

I do agree that legally blonde two was a lot more absurd. But I kind of love the silliness. as a kid legally blonde and legally blonde two were in my top favorite movies 💕
They did the same thing here like in the Pirates of the Caribbean with Jack Sparrow. They took this fun, witty and smart character and turned it into the thing they thought people enjoyed watching the most and that's someone goofy. They completely erased the characteristics that made the characters so loved...
Loved this when I was younger, but the first really was better all around

@@Historian212I think that is who is behind the project. Given how low this one was received, I think her company is going to, in order to ensure the success of this project.
They tripled down on what was ridiculous in the 1st one, instead of just doubling down on what made the 1st one great. I saw the sequel at the drive-in; perfect “delivery mechanism”!
They are actually making a 3rd installment next year. All the main characters from the 1st movie are coming back. Its confirmed already.

FUN FACT: that cheerleaders on the Staircase scene was filmed in the main hall/rotunda of the Utah State Capitol.. it is a unique setup in the country and I recognized it immediately (30+ year resident of Salt Lake City). It is likely many of the interior scenes in the "US Capitol" bldg in the show were also filmed there.

Despite any bad things it was refreshing to see that it wasn’t just men keeping Elle down. Her own mentor was doing it to many other women. Plenty in power now that do the same and that’s for both sexes 😂😂👍🏾👍🏾✌🏾
In the theatre, I got bad feelings about it during the opening credits already. And then the whole pink aura over Elle, it was so cringe. So, yes, it’s a bad sequel. Having said that, I was such a fan of the first movie, that when I watched it, I usually watched the second one as well. And all I can say is that at least it’s not boring and some scenes are hilarious. I can’t stand boring movies and this is not it.

"Chick flicks" I'd recommend are Miss Congeniality and The Devil Wear Prada. I also personally love Wedding Crashers (even though it's not a chick flick).

I kept getting distracted by the pink lighting everywhere, especially when it made her blond hair look pink. Some weird choices were made in this movie for sure, lol.
I WILL say, Emmett's engagement ring for Elle is MUCH prettier than "the rock" that Warner had in the first movie. Much more elegant and the pink stone makes it perfect for Elle.

Animal testing is cruel. I'm glad that the film tries to raise awareness about that issue. Because animals have feelings and they deserve be respect
If you want to watch more RomComs but find it hard to sniff out the good ones I recommend "The five years engagement" with Emily Blunt. This is one of the few really good movies in that genre. Same goes for "Easy A" as a high school movie - highly recommend that one aswell!!!! It's up there with "10 things I hate about you". And lastly I wanted to recommend the latest "Emma" adaption, which is different from "Pride and Prejudice" but very funny and iconic.
Easy A and 10 things are just so good. I will have to watch the Emily Blunt one cuz I adore her too.

Dunkirk! Fantastic movie. The sound design is insane.

There was sort of a third movie in the franchise - Legally Blondes. Technically its a spin-off for a failed TV show, but it follows Elle's 2 British cousins as they attend a California prep school and it was produced by Reese Witherspoon.
You should try finding some of the original McGyver series and see him on that show he was great 👍🏻
I prefer the first one since it took itself a little more seriously in terms of the topic. But I remembered this one being a favorite when I was growing up 😊

Yes, Legally Blondes doesn’t have Reese in it for Elle’s story, but it is canon. She is the cousin, or aunt?, to the main characters. It’s just as hilarious, but too cute to ignore. Also give Wild Child a watch. It’s a decent movie with Emma Roberts, who once played Nancy Drew.

Of course, the staff would know where Elle was... She's an open book who tells everybody everything about herself all the time. Also, keep in mind the time period of this movie...Social issues were addressed differently back then. Sometimes we overthink it and complain about nitpicky stuff. Hear me out...
This was a silly movie whose intent was to be just that, a silly movie. Did you have a good time? YES! Did you laugh out loud many times? YES! Was it intended to be realistic? NO, but you knew that going in. Will you watch this movie again? Probably not... But... You still enjoyed it... And that was the point of the movie. Legally Blonde 2 was successful in making that happen.
You all have a wonderful setup and presentation. It's great how you are organized in how you open and close all your reactions. I wish more reactors presented thoughtful and meaningful commentary with a REAL discussion the way you guys do. Although I disagreed with some of what was said, I appreciate the delivery and will check out some more of your content.
