Many thanks for all the fabulous art/clothing!! It is so captivating and inspiring. I've placed holds on Frostbite and Going to Beautiful. I also checked out the book Viewfinder on Libby. I'm winding down my reading for the year, but I've started Margaret Lawrence's book The Dividers to move into January. I'm planning to focus on Scandinavian literature in 2025 I think. 💕💕
@@barbaraboethling596 Hello Barbara! Thanks for your enthusiasm. Go slow with Viewfinder in order to really experience the wonder. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it as well as The Diviners and the other books you mentioned. A Scandinavian focus sounds fab. One of the books I am pondering for my best of 2024 list is Aednan. Have you read that? Which authors have you already got in mind for 2025? Cora Sandel? Vigdis Hjorth? Tove Jansson? Tove Ditlevsen? K Lavransdatter? (Those came most quickly to mind. So many great possibilities!)
Hi Lindy, Yay, you went to my favorite place the Brooklyn Public library main branch. I went on two buses to get there and I found it so beautiful as a teenager. I hope it still is. I spent Many happy hours browsing there I’ve been to the Brooklyn Museum but only a few times. If I ever return, I will check it out. Frostbite sounds interesting. Safe travels. Aloha friend.
Wow, it looks like you had such a great time! The Judy Chicago Dinner Party exhibit looks and sounds so fascinating, wow. I actually found some podcasts about it. I'll send you that link privately. A gay Saskatchewan feel-good murder mystery? I still think I'll pass. I'm so envious, and thanks for such a fabulous report. 🌈💕
@@shawnbreathesbooks Yeah, gay or not, I know feel-good mysteries aren’t your thing. Big city gay checks his assumptions and discovers some Saskatchewan farmers who are open minded and generous.
I was looking forward to a dispatch from your trip. The art museum was a treat. I didn't get to the Brooklyn Museum when I was in New York and don't imagine I will visit again.
@@scallydandlingaboutthebooks Hello Ros! When I was younger I could visit art museums every day. Now I have to space them out to avoid feeling overwhelmed. I plan to see two on Monday: the Cooper Hewlett National Design Museum and the Guggenheim.
What a lovely video. Going To Beautiful sounds lovely. Frostbite sounds like a must-read for me. Thank you for sharing. The art museum at the end was mesmerizing.
I live in northern New Jersey and had no idea I was so close to the Dinner Party! Years and years ago I worked with a woman who was one of the seamstresses. I’ll have to make it to the museum soon. Welcome to the states!
@@theaelizabet Hello and thanks for your greetings. The needlework on the Dinner Party tablecloths is amazing. I hope you have a chance to see it soon. 😊
Enjoy New York! How nice that you could borrow books at the Library in Brooklyn. Would love to visit the Brooklyn Museum but don’t think a vist to the USA is in my plans for the coming years😢
@@59cubanita Thanks Alina. It’s too bad about not visiting the Brooklyn Museum…. but on the bright side, you have wonderful museums on your side of the ocean. 🌊
Frostbite sounds fascinating. We have one fridge and one freezer in the garage. i must confess that 1/3 of the freezer is filled with yarn to prevent moths! Some of the gold clothes were amazing. I'm always shocked to see how tiny some of the mannequins are to fit the clothes. You're confronted with how the physiques of runway models are as much on the tail end of bell curves as NBA athletes. Makes you question beauty standards.
@@sarah-roadworthy Good idea to keep your yarn in the freezer! I have been wondering about how to annually clean my woollen sweaters now that I live in a different climate. I used to rely on snow to refresh them and they dried quickly in the dry air of Alberta. I guess I will switch to summer for annual airing here, where we have days of solid sun plus breezes.
@@MarilynMayaMendoza Indeed. Creativity and excess. There were so many other kinds of golden items in the exhibition and displays about the harms done to the environment and people for the sake of gold, but I chose to focus on the clothes for my video.
Travelling AND visiting libraries AND opportunity to borrow the books - simply love this combination ❤
@@kassandrik I feel fortunate 🥰
What a wonderful trip! Having a home base and a longer stay (with a cat friend) must be so nice.
@@readandre-read Yes, it’s great! I love having a well-stocked kitchen here. And Jessica owns a big stack of Cooks magazines too.
@lindysmagpiereads Fun magazine browsing!
Wow, wow, wow! All the museum footage is thrilling.

@@theonlyrealproperty2567 I’m enjoying myself. It’s nice to have an apartment to retreat to where I can cook, read and play with the cat. 🐱
