The only thing wrong with this enchanting video is that it didn’t last for days. 🥰 Thank you, Desi, for taking us with you and creating such a magical walk through this city, these amazing bookshops, and this romantic life! ❤️📚🌸

This is hands down the most fun I've had watching a vlog of yours Desi! You and J have really nailed capturing the whimsy of exploring a city and the simple pleasures of life.
Thank you so much for sharing that! Jared did pretty much all the filming for this video as we figured out each shot together. He did such an amazing job 🥹💗
Desi thanking people for staying the whole 40 minutes -> me replaying the whole 40 minutes because the whole 40 minutes feels like such a tender conversation amongst kindred spirits and book lovers ❤
As someone who is an introvert and gets easily overwhelmed with crowds, I honestly had no desire to visit New York. But after watching this video and seeing all the lovely bookstores Desi visited, I'm reconsidering my decision on this. Books and maybe a Broadway musical?! Time to start saving up 🥰✨
As an introvert and someone who also gets overwhelmed with crowds, NYC is very overwhelming. My husband took me out there once I had moved to the Northeast and almost had an anxiety attack. But, maybe having a plan and reason to go to the Big Apple might help a lot more! I hope you have a great experience if and when you do go!
Thank you for the advice and tips. It may be a bit before my partner and I go there. but we will definitely set up a game plan when we do @@traingirl09
I've always been an introvert, though it has abated in my later years. I moved to NYC when I was 25, following a couple of my college friends. NYC is a GREAT place for introverts. There are so many things one can do alone--go to movies, museums, book stores, art galleries, plays, walks, bicycling, or jogging in one of the many parks, including Central Park. The mass of people is so great that no one will likely to be paying any attention to you. After 40 years, I left NYC--my wife's choice--but I always enjoyed being anonymous in the crowded streets and subways. I could observe others or think to myself and I didn't have to interact with others unless I chose to. The energy of all those people invigorated me! I LOVE NY!
I have NO words! Just Wow! Desi I LOVE your videos! They make me feel so happy and bring me out of my head and into a fairytale! It shows me that I can be exactly who I want to be, the little girl yelling at me to get out and be free! You give me the courage to be my authentic self, just like you are! ❤
Going through the worst breakup of my life right now and Desi, the content is keeping me stable lol! Romanticization has become key to holding anxiety at bay

I really wasn't expecting Wales to be mentioned as one of your choices of a place to visit for books. I'm Welsh and the country often gets overlooked. New York looked amazing and I'd love to visit Central Park and relax there with a book. I always find your videos relaxing and whimsical and look forward to watching them with a cup of tea xx
I went to university in Wales. Absolutely loved it! Visited Hay on Wye and adore that town. Haven't been to Edinburgh since I was 5 so want to go again for sure to wander around bookshops there. I'm from England. My best friend lives in Oxford so there is a lot of choice of bookish stores there too - worth a visit. Then of course London aswell It is my dream to one day go to NYC and this video just made me look forward to that time even more, such a beautiful vid and gentle. Sending much love from the middle of England, UK ❤📚
Jared's little sorry about the tote bag incident made me laugh so hard. Kudos to the cameraman! My quiet little English town has nothing like this, I've enjoyed living vicariously through you.
You should absolutely make it into a series!! Edinburgh is also my favourite city to shop for books!! I especially love Blackwell’s there, it’s my all time favourite bookstore but Transreal Fiction is a close second because it is this small bookshop near Tom Riddle’s grave and they have all these used fantasy books 🥰 Thank you so much for taking us on your booktour through NYC, it was magical as always!! ✨
Loved this video! For your next trip, here are some more recommendations: - Mysterious Bookshop (specializing in mysteries!) - McNally Jackson Seaport location (beautiful bar and café area too) - Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks (lots of vintage and out-of-print cookbooks) - Rizzoli Bookstore - Kinokuniya (Japanese bookstore) - Three Lives - Book Club Bar (bookstore with wine, beer, literary cocktails, and a great backyard too) - Sweet Pickle Books (also sells pickles!) Desi! I'm happy to say I stayed for the full shopping trip and loved all of it. Your warm and cheerful smile and lighthearted ways always makes my day. Hope you're having a wonderful and cozy winter! xo, Mimi
The Strand is on my bookish bucket list. I was relieved to hear someone else say they didn't love EW's Encyclopedia of Faeries, I really wanted to. I have this same copy of The Little Princess and it was a beloved read when my daughter was young.❤📚
I would LOVE to take Desi to see all of the book stores, book cafés and libraries in Paris. There’s SO many places to share with her and princess parks too. I would love to share that experience with her! And, of course, to see the ORIGINAL Shakespeare & Co! They even allow my dogs in there now. ❤
I'm glad I'm not the only one who searches through a stack of books at the store for the most pristine copy. 😂 Amazing video! It looked like the perfect day! 💗📚📖
So often bookstores (I’m looking at you Barnes and Noble) are not gentle with their books and it shows 😶 Definitely gotta find the most pristine copy 👌🏻
@@DarlingDesi exactly! It surprises me how little care they take sometimes. I've been known to return/exchange books purchased online as well if they show up all battered.
I know how you feel. It's sad. Once my librarian from my school, HS, told us when we were volunteering to clean up. "Please be careful when handling books. They are our windows into another world. They should be treated with love. And if you see any writing inside or outside I can take care of those and remove the inks" It always stayed with me. So whenever I go to bookstores, I always make sure to handle the books carefully and put everything back.
I'm impressed by the ambience, the music, the varied selection of bookstores, absolutely everything! You guys look so happy, bringing us this wonderful and magical video. My boyfriend and I go through books quite fast so we are always looking to rent, exchange or buy thrifted books. Also, how do you guys film in public without showing people's faces? Whenever I try to film out in public, everyone starts walking around me and I can't get the right picture of the place. We have visited a few bookstores around Woonsocket, RI, Providence, RI, New York, NY, and Portland, OR. I was like a kid in a candy store. Almost bought half the store's supply. 😄 Anyhow, thanks for sharing your journey Desi. 💕
Hi! So, I just wanted to let you know that you are everything I want to be as a person. I love your personality, your love for books, and how genuine you are. I cherish every piece of you that you share with this community. Thank you

Your videos are honestly unmatched in aesthetic, cinematography, and coziness! Every time I sit down to watch a new video, it's like watching a comfort movie. This is sooo cute and I can't wait to go to NYC someday and visit some of these places 💖🌼
Also, I think a graphic novel you would love is The Wondrous Wonders by Camille Jourdy! It's so cottagecore meets hero's journey meets Alice in Wonderland set in a fairytale world with lots of woodland creatures and mystic settings. I love it 🦊🦊
I have never seen anyone picked up paris letters before! I LOVE that book, it helped me through the darkest, unmotivated times in my life. I hope you enjoy and loved as much as I did too. Thank you for this beautiful video!
Enchanted once again. Your trip to NY looked fantastic and I loved, loved the soundtrack. I have listed 12 books that I saw in this video to check out. So looking forward to my next bookshop trip. Thank you, Desi. x
Hi Desi! If you haven't read anything by Tove Jansson before, I highly recommend! The moomintroll books in English translation were some of my favourites growing up. She's a Finnish/Swedish author and she's hugely classic there but I don't see too many people reading her books in English and it's a shame. The world building is magical and sweet and they make me feel all sorts of lovely melancholic feelings about the joyful things in the world
In The Nordic countries as a whole. I live in Denmark and also remember reading the books and watching the cartoons as a child❤❤❤ ua-cam.com/video/tUb8RuaNpQY/v-deo.html
I _simply love_ Tove Jansson, she's one of my favourite writers - although I've "only" read the _Moomin_ books from her (they have been translated into Hungarian recently). But I'd love to read her other novels and short story collections, too! 😊 Unfortunately she's not too well-known and popular here in Hungary so I don't think they will ever be translated, that's why I must read them in English... 😃 Oh, and, of course, I have watched the cartoon series as a child! (I used to have a crush on Snufkin. 😆) Its opening theme is mesmerizing! 🎵🎶🎵🎶
@@vanefreja86 The gloomy and melancholic Japanese opening theme is way better! 😎 Thank God here in Hungary the anime series was shown with that opening in the '90s (when I was a child). 🎵🎶🎵🎶
Oh, I just can not put in to words how incredible delighted I am!!! Where I'm watching it is a warm spring day and its pouring dogs and cats. This is the perfect kind of video to snuggle up with and I just wanted to say how exquisite you are!💖
My birthday is in August and exploring bookstores and bakeries in New York (along with Broadway shows) is what I plan on doing. This video is perfectly timed for me!!
PLEASE MAKE THESE A SERIES!!!! 😍 I think it would be so awesome if you made videos about visiting all sorts of little (and big!) bookshops, I loved this one, and I loved that it was a nice long video. You are so sweet and comforting Desi, and I wish I could meet you in real life so we could get excited in bookshops together! I love books, especially beautiful books, just like you. And the Strand was my favorite to see as well! Enjoy your new friends between the pages, can't wait until the next video. ❤
This is so wonderful! I truly needed to see something like this. I’m counting down the days until I get to go to New York again, and now I have places I know I’ll want to visit.
Thank you for taking us on this journey through magical bookshops with you. New York is on my bucket list for very different reasons now - bookshops and pastries! Okay, okay, I still definitely want to see Central Park, Broadway and Times Square too, but these bookshops... Wow!
I always say this but you have the best channel on this platform. I’ve watched your Powell’s video multiple times so I was really excited to see this one and it didn’t disappoint. I’d love for this to be a series.
I love this! I have never been to New York but it's on my list. As you went through your book finds, I ordered them from my local library. I also have a tote bag from The Strand that I daughter got for me several years ago. It says, "She has a way with words, red lipstick, & making an entrance."
Fern and Otto is the most AdOrAbLe! I fell in love with it while cuddled up in the picture book section of my local Barnes and Noble. Its just pure wholesome magic. So glad someone else thinks it's as precious as I do!
I just started watching book reviews on UA-cam this week. I ran across your video to New York City visiting bookstores. I am now one of your biggest fans!!! I just love your videos! Thank you for sharing your likes and dislikes with us! I will be always following you. Very relaxing and cozy feelings when I’m watching. Keep your enthusiasm…it’s inspiring!!! 🥰
This video was amazing, cozy, atmospheric and very inspirational. Never been to NY, but if I ever go, I will definitely go to these places. Thanks for this gem! ❤
This video absolutely felt like a magical adventure movie 💖 I loved how each of the stores you went to had a different feel in the video, with the music & shots they each felt unique and wonderful! I’ve grown up in New York City and been to many of these bookstores, but seeing them though your eyes made them feel a dash more magical. McNally Jackson is my favorite bookstore, and always feels like a warm cozy hug walking in - It was such a pleasant surprise seeing it in the lineup! I’m so glad you enjoyed both your NYC trips, it’s made me so happy watching your videos of the city 💕
The way you talk has always been so comforting, and I literally just realized it’s because your inflections are like Taylor Swift! I don’t know if I’m the only one who has noticed, but it made me very happy❤ loved the new video as always!
Your excitement is so contagious Desi! Loved going to the bookshops with you :) Yes please to more book shopping adventures. You'd love London too- the amount of independent bookshops is amazing.
This was beautiful! The editing of your videos is so good and your eye for beauty so on point - I guess you find the thing outside, that you inherently carry inside of yourself. And you present it to the world so wonderfully. Thank you! Also, I love longer videos, so this is perfect❤ Greetings from Berlin/Germany
I will forever be back to recommend Tove Jansson to you: Summer book or Dangerous Midsummer for the next season! ❤ Thank you for a gorgeous video as always! 😊
I just love you. You are pure inspiration. You don't just look like something out of a fairytale, your heart does too. You bring such happiness, and I am thankful for you. 💖
6:18 I have that city scene tote bag and it is one of my favorites. I went to undergrad in New York and it's fun revisiting the city through this video.
I'm so happy that you got so many books which all sound so good📚 Also the quote at the end was absolutely beautiful😍 Thank you for brightening up my day, Desi🥰
I'm in love with Sarah Adams too! My favorite is The Match and I feel exactly like you said. We can see ourselves and relate to the main character. And I think it's so rare to happen. Also, she write the romantic tension like no one else haha
I love this video Desi ...love all your videos and my 11 year old daughter loves them and we quite often love to watch your videos together as we love to follow your journey and I feel we would definitely be kindred spirits. Thank you for blessing our lives with your videos. God bless 🙏🙏❤❤
As always Desi, I loved loved loved this video. Definitely make this a series, I genuinely feel like I'm there too. I must end up buying at least three books during each of your book videos and I'm not complaining!
You're such a darling, Desi! My heart's singing when watching this video. Thanks so much for making my day 💐 and yes, a great idea to turn this into a series of bookshop hopping around the world 🤍
Hey Desiree! AHHH! Such a fun video! If you ever go back, and are still wanting a tote bag from Shakespeare and Co. - their largest store in NY is in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The Upper West Side is just as cozy though! So happy you had a good time! 💕
I absolutely adore the whimsy that you incorporate into all areas of your life. It is so inspiring🫶 When you asked, why do I get so excited about books? It reminded me so much of something young Anne would ask. I just added so many books to my goodreads and I can’t wait to dive into them after we unpack from our move. Also..If while in Rhode Island you ever take a trip to Vermont you must stop at Northshire Books. It is pure magic✨✨
I'm reading Practice makes perfect at the moment and I love it so much, it's so swoony and I like that they actually talk to each other, I would love a film version of it! I haven't read the first book yet but I definitely will, she's also done a regency romance. Lovely lyrical video as always xxxx
This was so helpful! We're planning our first trip to NYC this December and I'm a teacher, an avid reader, and a mom of 3 little dragons who devour books.
You inspire me so much Désirée, because how beautiful is it to make a living out of just living? ♥️ (doing the things you love and bring joy and love to your heart). Before I discovered your channel, I always felt alone in the things that I like but seeing you talk about romanticizing your love, loving romance and children books finally made me feel seen and understood. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart ♥️

This is the perfect kind of video to snuggle up with and I just wanted to say how exquisite you are!💖
Oh how lovely!! Rainy days are special 🥰 Thank you for being here! I hope you enjoyed the video 💗
I love the blind book concept!
I found this channel through your Powell's bookstore vlog, and I'm so happy you made another one!! your videos are wonderful
My birthday is in August and exploring bookstores and bakeries in New York (along with Broadway shows) is what I plan on doing. This video is perfectly timed for me!!
That sounds like the best birthday plan ever! 😍
I just realized that I smile pretty big the whole time I watch your videos. Thank you!
Love the whimsical vibes you menage to give to every city ** And that you make us discover new cozy books. Your outfits are always the cutest!
big fan of your aesthetic and what u do! these videos honestly make me so happy 😭 you're so underrated!
This is so wonderful! I truly needed to see something like this. I’m counting down the days until I get to go to New York again, and now I have places I know I’ll want to visit.
I felt like I was in wonderland, the way you explicate and background music is so mesmerizing. God bless you abundantly. Thanks
Thank you for taking us on this journey through magical bookshops with you. New York is on my bucket list for very different reasons now - bookshops and pastries! Okay, okay, I still definitely want to see Central Park, Broadway and Times Square too, but these bookshops... Wow!
Desi's smile and joy is so contagious, I swear! When she's excited, I cannot help but feel excited as well!
I love that your husband supports you in your passion! Your love story is the best story you’ll ever have and live. ❤📖
Any book themed video of yours becomes an instant favourite! Please make more! 🥰📚
🫡 Will do!! 🥰
I always watch her book hauls with my Goodreads open! 😅
I need a book with Desi as the main character because she is just so comforting
The blind date book packages are soo ccuuttee! Love their illustrations!
Visiting the books as you go along is so real. I always say hi to the books I love most ❤
This video absolutely felt like a magical adventure movie 💖 I loved how each of the stores you went to had a different feel in the video, with the music & shots they each felt unique and wonderful!
1:09 Sorry I have to pause to say that this is giving me such You've Got Mail vibes, I LOVE IT
This came at the perfect time again! I was craving a cozy bookstore feel vlog, this ticked all the boxes! So cozy and now I want to visit New York
Your excitement is so contagious Desi! Loved going to the bookshops with you :) Yes please to more book shopping adventures. You'd love London too- the amount of independent bookshops is amazing.
the editing on this video is incredible! it’s perfect and it brought the biggest smile to my face :) thank you desi
Aww thank you for saying that!! 🥹🥰
What a beautiful description! I love how you worded that.
I’m so glad I can take this adventure with you. This is so special.
Thank you for enjoying it with me! 🥰
Thank YOU for watching!! 🥹💗
Desi's wholesomeness relaxes me sooo much
This is peak perfection. Watching while I crochet a bouquet of flowers and the vibes were just so immaculate. ::chef's kiss::
You' ve changed my mood with this video! Is pure serotonin, I love your style and how authentic you are! Love from Argentina ❤️
Literally always watch until the end. And instantly watch when I see your videos. Love them all!
I'm in love with Sarah Adams too! My favorite is The Match and I feel exactly like you said. We can see ourselves and relate to the main character. And I think it's so rare to happen. Also, she write the romantic tension like no one else haha
New bucket list goal thanks to Desi: explore every bookstore in NYC! ❤
I love the jazz/clarinet heavy sound track-perfect for New York bookstore vibes. And beautiful as always!
I love this video Desi ...love all your videos and my 11 year old daughter loves them and we quite often love to watch your videos together as we love to follow your journey and I feel we would definitely be kindred spirits. Thank you for blessing our lives with your videos. God bless 🙏🙏❤❤
I started reading the Jane Austin mysteries by Stephanie Barron and I love them!! Historical mysteries are on another level 🙌🏻
This is so beautiful.... it's like watching a cozy mini movie❤❤❤
As always Desi, I loved loved loved this video. Definitely make this a series, I genuinely feel like I'm there too. I must end up buying at least three books during each of your book videos and I'm not complaining!
You're such a darling, Desi! My heart's singing when watching this video. Thanks so much for making my day 💐 and yes, a great idea to turn this into a series of bookshop hopping around the world 🤍
I often think about your beautiful Christmas video you shot with you and your husband dancing around the tree. Very moving.
Oh what a lovely vlog… loved the bookstores, the music, and it felt like watching a movie !!
Thank you!! I’m so happy you enjoyed it 🥹
I never use this word, but I can’t think of another: this video was so wholesome🧡 Wonderful to be able to come with you on this trip🥰
Omgosh I loved loved this whole video. The best compliment you can get from a stranger, wow! What a dreamy trip!! 🤎
