Thank you……very clear and definitive 👍
Adorable boy
Pumpkin helps to increase their water intake and provides fibre.
Aww I hope the big guy is doing well!!

Hi Krista my cat broke his tail last Monday and imhas no feeling below the base. He defecated that night after accident then went the vets for x ray the next day and he hasn't had a stool pass since then other than a few small ones that I think have fell out. He is urinating fine and had an enema today and he is also on lactalose. My vet has said if he cannot pass stools on his own I will have to have him put down. However he I am fine in himself he is eating and drinking. It seems lethargic. But he has a had a tough week has had a couple of anesthetics and pain meds every day. He is only 3 years old and if it is nerve damage is there anything I can do to save his life?? Thanks for reading.
Have you tried giving him a very wet diet with lots of pumpkin?
I guess you mix the pumpkin in cats wet food... given straight, my cats were not interested.
My cat is 16 and deinks water all the time. I clean her box daily and there are at least five pee clumps. Poops every two to three cats. I feed her primarily wet food. The dry is there in case she wants a snack. We will exercise after my bath! Thanks.
My cat is on a wet diet but I’m still struggling with him trying to defecate.. I add water to the food and changed his food so he eats way better now and his nausea has improved immensely but the poo department is a struggle I tried bran but he did do a present 2 days llater. I also gave him food that has ground flax and I tried canned pumpkin but nothing has happened yet! Is there anything I could do that would help and be a little faster?
All the things you said mines was the same way. I started giving a pinch miralax in the soft food with a little water once a day. Once stool becomes loose I'll give out to him every other day. Of course speak to your Vet first.
I have a 12-13 lb cat (had been 9lb for most of his life) 17 year old cat. He has kidney disease (special diet dry food) and irritable bowel disease (meds for both of these). He has been to the emergency vet 3 times for enemas. Sent home with lactulose 2x/day, and subcutaneous fluids every other day and he continues to be constipated. Not drinking much so I try to encourage him by using water from tuna cans to flavor it. Can't really change his diet and his level of activity is unlikely to be greatly increased due to age. I'm stuck...I don't know what else to do. I've paid over $1200 in the past 3 weeks just to "clear him out". I can't keep doing this.
Is 1/4 tsp of murilax ok for a 17 lb cat? I just spent 3,000 on him and broke! He’s 12. Can I use a fleet bottle and empty it out and just add warm water?
No
Never ever give human OTC products to a cat.
You watched another channel and the Vet mentions this.
Please remember, this is just some random person and you don't know anything about his education or if he's been reported to the Board for whatever.
If he offered a homemade, natural remedy, that's good medical advice, fine--but still irresponsible behavior. If the colon is devoid of fluids, it can indicate inflammation elsewhere or some other concern.
No one should dole out advice like that.
Get to a Vet
At the least go to a pet store that has a hospital attached to it and get a recommendation of something specifically for your pet.
Do you know what an imbalance of electrolytes (magnesium, potasium, calcium, sodium) can do to a tiny colon or kidneys?
If you have to go on YT looking for answers, you DEFINITELY need a vet consultation.
Constipation is serious.
Dry food is garbage. Unnatural to expect an animal to live on cereal.
🙏
@@dannac_8888 So confusing...so if a Vet is on YT giving advice to use Miralax, I shouldn't listen to THOSE vets? Really wish you vets would get on the same page. Many times, a new pet owner can't get in as a patient with a clinic because they aren't accepting new patients or are booked up for weeks, even months. That's when we resort to YT, specifically looking for advice FROM actual vets rather than random pet owners. And just when we think we've got good advice about one thing, there's another vet saying it's wrong! Who are we supposed to believe: The vet who says something is ok or the one who says it's not???
@@MomCheeto4 What my vet told me is that Miralax 1/8 tsp is ok to try a few times. UNLESS your cat is dehydrated. I can only repeat what they said, I don't actually know.
Obviously it’s a good idea to talk to a vet. But you should definitely ask your vet about Miralax. I have seen 3 vets in my area who all suggested Miralax which I buy at my local pharmacy. I give my 12 pound cat 1/4 tsp in his food, twice per day. When I’ve asked about potential for overdosing the vet has said to just monitor his stool; if there is diarrhea then it’s too much. Hasn’t been a problem for me.
Can you use preparation-H with the tube inserted in the rectum? Will it help at all? Will it hurt them? What it they if they lick it? Will that hurt them? - TAV ♥️🇺🇸🌎👍
