      I use to not grease them being that they are lubed by the diff fluid but lessons learned the hard way lol....now I grease them all. Thanks again for checkout the series.

    Im a rv tech so tapered bearings are my bread and butter. The "its oil bathed so no grease" always freaked me out. A bearing packer will pay for itself in one job. Toss the bearing in, put the cone on and give it a little squeeze in the vice. Good to go you see the grease pop out like spaghetti and it cleans out the little bits the parts washer and brake clean may have missed.

      I agree......I never trust putting them in dry. I rarely pack any bearings anymore so I never got around to getting a packer but I did want one. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Dont forget to subscribe.

    Great video series again. Would the rear axle seal replacement procedure be the same for a 2016 2500? I found mine leaking when doing my brakes this past weekend. Also interesting about packing the bearings.... so that doesn’t interfere with the diff fluid? Thanks again

    In this video for a 2014 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab i have a inter ABS sensor four bolt ring with teeth. Assuming that’s Torque at 95 as well?

    Thanks for the video, really nice information, I have a 2001 Ram 3500 with the Dana 80, not much difference between mine and that AAM. I am currently on the rear replacing the rotors and pads and inner Ebrake pads, I do not see any locking compound left on the 15 mm bolts after removing them, would you recommend Red Loctite to be used on them? Thanks again.

      Phubar Now I haven't seen an issues with loose bolts. I personally don't see any reason for it but if I did.....blue, not red. We still want to get the bolts off in the future with out having to use a lot of force.

    Did you put new races in the hub? What is an easy way to remove and install them?

  • @pugetlexus
    @pugetlexus 3 роки тому

    This is all true. But your working too hard.
    Complete the job, thread an elbow into fill cover ( dana) housing ( ford) leave axles loose with bolts started. Add gear oil till it runs out the hub. Rattle the axle bolts in with 3/8" cordless.
    Remove elbow , let drain excess gear oil from diff cover . Done.

    What brand of break pads and rotors do you prefer for these one ton trucks?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  6 років тому

      At the dealership we always install the OEM Mopar parts....on my own vehicle, I really dont have any preference. I just dont buy the cheapest set of pads. Rotors dont seem to make much difference as well in my opinion.

      +Michael Berg I too cant believe that over the years I haven't. Being that they are on a lot more of our vehicles such as the scat packs and the hellcats.....I am sure eventually I will. So an Indy tech......that sounds awesome. I would love to hear more about that. I actually work just outside of Augusta Georgia.

    0:01 The first time I had to do this...driver side zoom zoom zoom, no problem....passenger side zoom zoom BgGhgdgdgddddd...rounded off the very last bolt. M!@#$% F!@#$% Was able to get a grinder in there to square it enough to hammer a socket on it and then heat with a torch to get it off. The factory must have used a whole tube of thread locker. As luck would have it, these bolts have an odd shoulder on them so dealer only item and of course it was a Sunday afternoon. Luckily I was able to match the bolt thread with one at the auto parts store and made a spacer out of aluminum tubing to simulate the shoulder. Typical for me that a 2 hour job turns into 6 hours of running around finding parts and jerry rigging crap to get something back together before work on Monday.

    Yeah don't pack your bearings on a floating axle... lol your "grease" is literally preventing the diff lube from doing its job as its acts like a barrier.. you're literally re engineering Chrysler's engineers lol. You're outta your league man.
