Best video on this I’ve seen. I had to JUMP on a 3’ piece of pipe over a breaker bar to loosen the lug nuts on my truck because the idiots at the RAM dealer here ran them down so tight when I had new tires put on. I’m pissed.
Good video, Only one thing I do is screw a lug nut on temporary against the rotor to secure in place while adding all the hardware and pads. Keeps the rotor true and the pads stay tight to the rotor while you put the caliper back on.
Excellent and informational video. I did notice that you weren’t bleeding or swearing at any point in the video. Also, did you edit out the part where you threw your tools? Just want to make sure I launched mine to the safest distance before I took the torch and sledge hammer to the stuck hub in a blind rage.
HAHA, No tools were harmed during the making of this DIY Repair video...... I cant say the same about the video we did on the F150 rear parking break..... That one tools were harmed, things were said about ford that could never be taken back...
Great video! Saved me hundreds of dollars. Note to others if your truck is like mine you will only be able to compress the calipers with screw drivers enough to get them off the old pads. When you take the caliper off use the old pad against the cylinders and use c clamps to tighten and compress the cylinders all the way. Good luck guys!

Good video but 2 things. 1) when luring the booted pins, take off the boots-clean the shaft-and put new lube on entire shaft. 2) when putting the wheel back on, after you snug the lugs-tighten them in a star pattern for even placement.
Great video. For the longest time I was paying people to do it. After sitting back and realizing I have every single tool to do this job, I said “I’ll do it myself.” It took 50 minutes to do the job. (And that’s because it was the first time I ever did it. I expect next time to be faster) saved my self a few hundred bucks in doing it myself. It’s mind blowing to see exactly how easy it is when you have the right tools for the job.
Just did mine thanks to this video. Getting the caliper back on with the ne pads was a pain, just had to compress the piston more with a large adjustable wrench. Perfect step by step video
Most informative and well explained step by step video. I have done brakes many times and it took some time to learn these tips. Socket sizes are not in description but they are 13mm and 21mm. Possibly need a 17mm wrench only if needed They are all well explained. Thank you.
The top anti rattle clip wasn’t secured properly as it hung up and didn’t slide in on the calliper bracket. Thanks for the very well done job description.

Great video. I am coming up due for fronts on my 17 ram. My only question is why were u concerned with damaging rotors if you were replacing them? I guess for the guy that isn’t planning on replacing them.
I always wire brush around the center of the spindle where it is close to the center of the brick disc, I have had rotors stuck on that center.. I also put Antosy between the studs on the disc where the wheel contacts. I have seen wheels, so stuck from rust welding, that they hooked up a tow truck to the wheel to pull it off.
Nice work. Since most people watching this are the DIY type and will probably be doing this in their own driveway/garage, I would try to make sure viewers know the importance of using a jack stand (which you do 👍) along with your floor jack to perform this task safely.

Some nice tips for someone that's never done a brake job before. Although it has nothing to do with the brake service but now would also be a good time too clean the wheel on the inside to get rid of all that brake dust, the outside will get done on your next wash.
I have a brand new rotor that wobbles. It grindes when i drive Do you think i got a bad rotor from autozone? Iv taken it off to make sure its tight but it still has play
Man what a great informative video, only thing I recommend is torquing those caliper bracket bolts to spec, last thing you wants a loose caliper bracket. Otherwise keep up the good work awesome video man!
You know what is funny, I used to do wheel lug nuts in a star pattern. Then I was at a class to get a GM certification, and they said to snug up the lugs and then go around in a circle and not in a star pattern. My ENTIRE life I have been going in a star pattern, and some engineer tells me otherwise. So I started doing it that way. I'm not sure if I notice a difference
Great video, this is only the 3rd truck I have seen that is the same color as mine. Very rare color. I didn’t see you put any caliper grease on the pad clips or the channel they ride in?
Me G the brake system is a sealed system, if you do not open it to change the brake pads and rotors then there should not be any air in the system. Hope this helps ! Happy Motoring!

Thanks Bill, I have the wrench sizes somewhere I gotta dig them up from when I did this job and attach it to the video. We did not show how to jack the vehicle up or where we placed our jack stands. But in future videos, we are starting to show that step. I have always assumed that people watching these videos practice safe repair standards and have an idea on how to work on their own car already.

You can certainly have the cap cracked open, it will not make pumping the pedal easier of not! If it does it is a very small amount, as the main force is your leg and the multiplication factor of the brake pedal length! Let us know how you made out! Happy Motoring, Blair

So my ram out of nowhere started to scrape the rotors but the pads are fine but they are having contact without pressing the brakes what would have caused it? What can i do
That is a tough one I would have to inspect it myself to tell you what is going on! If they are making noise check the backing dust shield plates and see if maybe they are rubbing. Have the wheels off and look really well. If you cant find it dont keep driving have a shop check it out! Happy Motoring-Blair
Revit Auto thank you for your response i just went ahead and changed everything to preformance rotors new pads and the problem went away by itself but i got a new challenge for you my truck all of a sudden started getting the worst mpg i know its a truck and doesnt get that good of mpg but it is really bad

Check your ROTORS with a MICROMETER or a CALIPER! The thickness of your ROTORS is stamped on the top of of it. It may be rusted away? If so use the internet bro, you'll find your answer. Also, you can usually tell right away if you need to change your pads, by looking at their thickness. Rotors should be changed if they're warped, under stamped measurement or if they have deep cut grooves in them. Hope this helps.

Not trying be MR negative here: 1) I take cap off master cylinder take make sure its not topped off( when you push caliber back in there going to be fluid pushed back in there ) 2). ill always put a jack stand under frame or suspension as addiction precaution always,, ,,had for flor jack drop few years back,,broke my foot ..

Are all ram rotors the same? Rock auto says crew and regular cab. Nothing about quad cab. Unless they classify 4 doors as crew even if they are smaller??? Idk stupid website
Hey! There are two different rotor styles. It matters how many wheel studs your truck has. So take a look at your wheel and then look back at rock auto site to see the lug hole numbers in each rotor. Happy Motoring-Blair

I replaced mine but still have a bit of pedal pulsation. Everything looks fine with the fronts? Could it be the rears?

Not greasing the back of the pad or the bracket that the pad rides in ??? I've always greased ALL metal to metal contact
I also add a little grease to the back of the pads, and the slot.

The process will be similar however the 2500 has a heavy-duty setup which will be different.

You can still use your C/ Clamp if you want! Just showing you a different way that may work for you and save you time!

I did it exactly like you did. Why do I hear a lot of squeaking like if the brake pads are sticking to the rotor?
Do you put grease?
Should have put a bit of grease for the pads to slide in the bracket.

Are all ram rotors the same? Rock auto says crew and regular cab. Nothing about quad cab. Unless they classify 4 doors as crew even if they are smaller??? Idk stupid website
Hey! There are two different rotor styles. It matters how many wheel studs your truck has. So take a look at your wheel and then look back at rock auto site to see the lug hole numbers in each rotor. Happy Motoring-Blair
