@@25kepy I saw a video about a pro Archer that lifted the rear bar upward to reduce wait and it worked for her. I tried it for myself and I was able to remove 2 ounces and the bow ended up balancing just as well. I know you posted this a year ago lol but I hope you still find it useful
I have been in a stabilizer rabbit hole for the last five days... this video is exactly what i needed to help push me in the right direction! Thanks once again boys, for listening and knowing your audience.
Great info guys. Bubble direction at the end was backwards but that’s just because bubble direction is confusing. Move your Stab in the direction of the bubble…is the easiest way to think about it.
I love this method of setting up stabs. Wish there was more information on the podium stabilizers. I want to upgrade my setup soon and these are in my list of options. MFJJ needs to do a rundown on them soon.
Following up…. I bit the bullet and bought the podium stabs (15” and 8”). NOT disappointed. Super light, great quality. I bought some colored weights cause… ya know, I gotta keep it coordinated. Still would love to see more info either on the website or on a video, but I’m a fan.
Excellent video. This is a unique (to me) method - balancing based on bow movement after the shot. I adjusted my stabilizers based on pin movement while aiming - pin dropping out of the bull = more back weight. Thank you again for great content.
As always great info from MFJJ and the Elkshape boys. I seriously want to make a pilgrimage to Spokane and get a lesson with Josh and get my set up doped.
If you aren’t gripping the bow, it should tip forward after the shot. The force of accelerating the arrow is above the fulcrum of the grip. So the bow will want to tip back while accelerating the arrow. A front heavy bow counters that during the shot. The more mass and the further from the fulcrum of the grip, the less forward bias you will need. Another option for tuning weight, you can tip the back bar down to “shorten” it.
Definitely, a good place to start where you ended up. I would have taken off his stand first. I don't think he is going to hunt with that on there. There is a more technical way to finish off what you accomplished so far. You should try putting a Mantis on that and run several 6-8 shot steadiness score sessions, make some small adjustments and see what you can learn about how much tighter the aiming pattern is once hit the right spot after several 6-8 shot sessions and small adjustments one way or the other. Most people I set up can't believe there is usually more left pressure than they thought they should have to end up with 95%-97% steadiness scores consistently. It's funny how when we start where they thought they had them set the best. The scores are ranging from 83%- 93% over 6-8 shots. When we get done the spread is usually within 2%-3% differences in most of their shots. Along with looking at the images of the sessions from start to finish. The Mantis shows you a target with a pattern of how you drew the bow and how you came to the target and how wide your hold was, it shows your movement and even where you went after the shot. Generally when we start the holding pattern is fairly wide, when we get done we can see how much it has tightened. Great video, that should help some people get on track, you have a really good way of going about what you did there. Not everyone wants to spend 300 Bucks on a Mantis. With the Mantis, you can even play each shot as a video and watch the whole line get drawn on the target from the draw, all the way to after the shot. I learned from it that I drew to the left and came to the target from the left. I was able to correct that by blind bailing, now I draw the bow fairly in line with the target and start a bit on the high side. If you get a chance, give it a try and let me know what you think. If it's worth it, do a stabilizer set up 2.0 video on it. I have two people scheduled for Mantis sessions here real soon at my little bow shop. I will start out by having them shoot some groups after warming up a little at say 40-yards. I will mark all their shots with old vanes I cut off when reflecting arrows. We will do all the Mantis work at 20-yards. Before they leave I have them go back to 40-yards and shoot another group.
Great video. I've never implemented a rear stabilizer. I'm interested in testing a few out on my new v3x. I've noticed how my prior bows would lean to the right with a full quiver, and roll back on the release. May need to go longer with my front stabilizer too. Not sure the 11" b stinger is doing much.
now what if you have zero weight up front other than the nock on (riddance) doinker dampener thinger with a 12 to 15 bar and say 6oz weight out back on a 10 bar along with the doinker thinger an then top cam drops forward, would you add more weight to the back bar? also how would you determine the rear bar position as far as angled up or down. I see Tim's is angled upward an mine is downward. is that determined at full draw? hope this makes sense
And here I was about to ask for a more in depth look at stabilizers…great video, you guys have been killing it lately. What about Angle of the stabilizer? Dan drops his 10 degrees, but some people have it straight?
The angle just brings the stabilizer’s center of gravity further down and away from your grip…in theory. And angled quick disconnects for front stabs are pretty cheap so its nice to thinker with.
Great content guys. At the end, what length stabilizers and how much weight on each stabilizer was the best combination for your bow? I really want to add a back bar to my setup, but because I do not live close to a good bow shop, I cannot try out several configurations (without buying multiple). While it will be easy to add and remove weight, I really have no clue what lengths to go with, so any advice/recommendations are appreciated
If I’m not running a front stabilizer but want to run a back stabilizer to offset the quiver with arrows in it, would this be that same set up procedures?
I got a question 🙋♂️. Currently shooting a v3x 33 and shot my first 3D league and was wondering if getting a trx38 set up would be worth the invest or should strip my 33 if it’s hunting components during the off season and replace with target components. Thanks for the great content I like how it’s to the point short and sweet.
Wells dam. I never really looked into stabilizers. I was the guy that bought the axion stabilizer they made for the nocam htr because it looks cool and stuck it on my Halon6. It looks cool but I've been wondering why everyone is all stabbed out.
If I’ve adjusted my back bar as far as possible towards the string and still not getting level, is it okay to move the stabilizer to the opposite side in order to get level? Assuming my grip is good.
Got my new @elkshape stabilizers on and was wondering about the rubber-looking ring in the middle of Tim's. My guess is that dampens vibration more? How would I get some for mine? I don't see them on the website. Thanks for the info!
Can’t wait to send my new ( old stock ) elite impulse 31 out there for a set of strings, hopefully he can level my new Montana black gold mountain lite second axis, and get it tuned up. Considering his stabilizers thinking a 15 front 10 back but idk. It’s my project now for my upcoming fall elk hunt in plains Montana, I’m from north east Ohio and just want to say thanks for all the knowledge you guys share
Not being critical but may want to have mfjj check your grip. Bow looks like it's moving right at shot then you are correcting it back to left after the shot. Watch the video and you will see it
MFJJ actually blew my mind a little when we went through this balancing process.. would HIGHLY recommend! - TC

Great , simple explanation and demo of how to set the stabilizers. Thanks for the videos MFJJ!
FINALLY! The straight answers I've been looking for!
Great information on stabilizers. Makes you think on your setups.
Great video, really learned a lot in a relatively short tutorial. Thanks for all y’all do
Can we get a run down of MFJJ's TAC setup? Release, bow, arrows etc!! Can't wait for all the TAC footage!
When he picks a bow
My stabilizer set up has 4oz out front and 5 oz on the side bar , it balances in my hand before the shot and after the shot
This really helped me. I've seen very little improvements with my stabs on my rx7 ultra. But this really really helped
I've just started working on a rear stabilizer, and I really appreciate this information

Definitely enjoying the new music selections lol
Thanks - TC
I'm literally going to do this tomorrow at the range perfect timing
Good stuff guys, sweet to see the method to the madness that Is mfjj

Another great video. What about adjusting the rear bar on the horizontal axis? That one appears level, but when you would you adjust that up or down?
Good explanation of how to set the stabilizers!
But why do I see the bows tumbling forward after the shot in competition shooters?
Great video, and helpful, but when I adjust my back bar side to side it doesn’t seem to change my level bubble when anchored in with eyes closed
Great video guys!
Short stabilizer syndrome! Lol. U guys are a riot!! Love the vids SVA n Elk Shape very informative and a lil comical to boot.😁🏹

How do you determine how far up or down (angle) to put the back bar?

stupid random question. is the tight spot quiver tighter to the riser than the mathews web quiver? the older style web. and which weighs less?
a 34 inch front and 20 back is good or the back is to big?
thanks
If I’m not running a front stabilizer but want to run a back stabilizer to offset the quiver with arrows in it, would this be that same set up procedures?
I see the drop angle on the front stabilizer, is there a reason for that? I’m curious, I run a 12” off my front but it goes straight out.
Any specific quick disconnect work for these?

Why balance the bow with limb legs attached? Do you leave the legs on permanently?
