This is the LMT MWS 308 rifle. British Army calls it their L129A1 sharpshooter rifle. Monolithic upper. Quick change barrel system. The newest platform is called the LM8.
The good ole Yank LMT 308 MWS. The British L129a1 is essentially the same setup except they have the fixed 6x ACOG. Owning an AR-10 myself I can say great choice, they are awesome long range rifles.
DMR is an excellent weapon system. Sections already had LSW's, M72's & M203's which could usually engage infantry and armoured targets out to 300m, but the DMR extends both the engagement ability and ISTAR function of standard infantry sections.
I'm so pleased seeing as how it isn't. You may notice that I also didn't say that you said it was the 417. If you look closely you can see that it says Lewis Machine & Tool Co. above the ejection port. Also he says Lewis Machine and Tool at 0:36
@victory5959 we didn't rely on allie, we didn't even need to be there, allies relied on us. We only went to help out the Americans fighting the war on terror. As NZ is the freest country in the world, and we wanna keep it that way
We aren't 'relying' on allies, we didn't enter Afghanistan to fight the taliban we entered as peace keepers, our primary role was to take care of civilians but our soldiers often came under fire, so no we didn't 'rely' on our allies if anything they made it more difficult because with every school they blew up we had to rebuild. it's the civies that rely on NZ army not the allies :)
Strange thought it was the HK417 like aussie for the DMR role guess it turns out followed the BAF and it's a LM308MWS (if the instructor in the vid is right ?) with different optics and furniture..
In the past ten years things have changed. All of us globally can now use the internet to do deals with each other that are for trade and industry, education, medical and health etc. We are less and less being controlled by the traditional 'bosses' like kings, sultans, presidents. popes, mullahs and big corporations. I, just a PC user, was able to speak through UA-cam to both sides of the Libyan conflict while it happened. I can talk to you as an intelligent person about how much we want guns.
True (though in the end I stay out of it), heck I read of that nut in 96 and how he got 'em, if it wasn't such a tragic story I'd find it very funny. In NZL you just have too REALLY proove yourself and although stringent it is no nonsence and pratical... due too health issues I can't.
the equipment getting better, remember we have a very small budget to spend on the military, that's why we have a armored personal carrier to serve the purpose of a tank, we just don't have 4 million to throw away, but we'll get there.
I'm looking to get in touch with NZ soldiers how may I go about it? We at least could talk on the phone I'd love to and have always wanted to go to NZ, but a really really long plane flight. Also, it isn't like there is a magic place anymore. My country America is crumbling and so is the world. Anzac day is very sad and this year was the 100th year. I just ask why and get no answer. No one knows. It was deliberate slaughter and I would hope the Army gets good treatment not shit treatment now.
OH! You mean they adopted the AR10? The rifle everyone should have adopted back in the 1960s? In 7.62 because 5.56 doesn't have the legs or the fist? Right oh, then.
Nz soldiers are brave and well trained the problem is they have shit equipment and rely too much on allies in certain conflicts like Iraq and afganistan
Thank you, by the way how did you come with that, seve home time with my countrymen overseas? I saw your from the US. Too think there are guys down here who hunt with shit like this! Rather unsporting.
Is it an HK417 or an AR in 7,62? The Magpul Mag looks great! Great Weapon, our German Soldiers become the last shit, old bad pimped G3... They want safe money.... :-(
Why don't they bust out some of the old L1A1's that are stored away? Fit them with good scopes and light triggers, and it'd probably be better than those.
Would be hevy not as accurate hard to mount bipods lasers etc. In the end would be more expensive and not as good. Us spent lots of money on m14 dmrs but then they just replaced them with m110 and m417 so modernized 14 was just waste of money and time
To Victory5959 you sir are so wrong. The United States did call us up for help when labour was in government. Helen Clark the PM at the time even confirmed it on the news. Stating the US has requested help from NZ in fighting the war on terror and we will consider and debate this request over a period of a month along with other requests from Italy and the UK. I should know i remember it too well on the 6pm news TVNZ and i was totally against getting involved in such a big cluster fuck as i knew this war on terror would go on for years to come. Also the British found out the bush administration had lied to them about the Iraqi super weapon and other shit.
NZ army should get the FN SCAR 17 as there main battle rifle. So much better and they can switch between 7.62 and 5.56 ammunition. These days u need 7.62x51 as it’s just better in every way. A little heavier but better
To answer you: The US $840B has got NZ into their war, presumably soon using the new rifles. What I'm doing here is exploring the new democracy available in UA-cam to confront the we-know-best military mindset (NZ Defence Force logo above) with a non-military, questioning mindset. Nicki Hagar spoke to a full house in Palmerston North, revealing that, unknown to the NZ public, our 'peaceful' military mission (a) loading explosives onto US CIA helicopters (b) navy escorting US navy warships.
first thing i thought after watching this is how many bullshit comments there are. Quite alot from the looks of it. Your all acting like a bunch of women having a winge just for the sake of having one haha. Keep to the games ladies.

@De Oppresso Libtard either that or the good 'ole SUSAT

that looks like a handy bit of kit,i want one
LMT 308 is probably the best auto loading 308 marksmen rifle available. NZ needs to add a suppressor to the package to make it the best.
Really want to pick one of these up eventually. I have always liked LMT, and think their products are outstanding.
308 is the way to go...especially against covert tactical penguins
too true xD our army might be tiny, but we make up for it with training equipment and resourcefulness
glad to see our allies finally gettin some decent kit..,
Nice one Phil, wonder if you're still in? we'd be 25 years this year since we all joined, bet those grunts thought you were the bees. Onward.
Actually it's the Lewis Machine and Tool Modular Weapon System (LMT MWS)
In order to become a marksman, you need to sign up as a rifleman and pass basic and corp training, it is an internally recruted branch
It's not a branch is a job in the rifle platoons your getting confused with the sniper group
I'm so pleased seeing as how it isn't. You may notice that I also didn't say that you said it was the 417. If you look closely you can see that it says Lewis Machine & Tool Co. above the ejection port. Also he says Lewis Machine and Tool at 0:36
the memory i have of the nz army was during a time of low morale 1990s.
bad time to be in batallion as theyd just come back from singas
I had been told it was actually the KAC SR25 that our boys were using, but so long as its a good weapon, then its all good
@victory5959 we didn't rely on allie, we didn't even need to be there, allies relied on us. We only went to help out the Americans fighting the war on terror. As NZ is the freest country in the world, and we wanna keep it that way
@MilSimCrusader It's a 7.62 AR manufactured by Lewis Machine & Tool.
Multi Terrain Camouflage Uniform is said to be replacing DPM mid next year

Outstanding!
Thumbs UP! NZ from Oz
Can someone please. Do a video on what to take to the military training please??
@charliebrownface because it was the British who settled into newzealand with the moari making it apart of the british empire so yea
Yes, yes it is.
Strange thought it was the HK417 like aussie for the DMR role guess it turns out followed the BAF and it's a LM308MWS (if the instructor in the vid is right ?) with different optics and furniture..
they got em
How many of these did New Zealand purchase?
is there any reason they brought the same new rifle as the british?
@charliebrownface increased co-operability during wartime?
Well, you can buy this, you just need an E-cat license, a permit to import, a shit ton of cash, and possibly a trade in.
Is that Dave Thorsen from .037-.055 and later 1.21-1.55?
That looks like a knights armament SR-25
New Zealand is pretty bad ass.
Nice AR10ish platform...
whats the name of that rifle
what is the name of this rifle?
is this replacing the standard issue steyr AUG
+TURTLE No its still the AUG, they are thinking of the m416 or the m16 as a replacement.
4 Tonnes of Fury ah...
+TURTLE - This is a 7.62 marksman rifle , the rifle replacing the AUG is a 5.56 LMT variant AR ...............:]
ah...okay sounds good
i just really like the look of the steyr is all m4's are good tho
+TURTLE They decided on a replacement before you had commented. NZDF uploaded a short video showing it.
To protect the civilians you have to fight the Taliban and we did call in support from the us and uk its call active patrolling.
GREAT BRITIAN
some ar-15 platform. SR-25??
Get some Krylon paint and paint those bad boys. Don't be shy it won't hurt anything.
what type of bullet
7.62x51mm NATO.

Thanks for the info. Happy New Year in New Zealand to you matey
Hurry up NZ
shovel20 hurry up us
OK
looks like a sr-25
I would say the same to you, it's spelled "nonsense" not "nonesense".
OH! You mean they adopted the AR10? The rifle everyone should have adopted back in the 1960s? In 7.62 because 5.56 doesn't have the legs or the fist? Right oh, then.
The LMT should serve you folks nicely.
Good choice.
P.S. Congrats to ALL BLACKS bringing the World Cup home at home.
@Nismogtir1 Ummmm maybe you should train to become a cop then join the aos...
LMT it is a good rifle, but where is the foward assistent bolt?
Waiouru's such a hole
You can't even be trusted with an R18 rating... yet.
You get one soon, so these will probably come soon.
Nz soldiers are brave and well trained the problem is they have shit equipment and rely too much on allies in certain conflicts like Iraq and afganistan
The AW Sniper rifle is better but still only .762
@kevin71127 fuck yea is is
Thank you, by the way how did you come with that, seve home time with my countrymen overseas? I saw your from the US.

all most nothing about the rifle in this vid. WTF?
@sentinel531
Who's going to invade New Zealand?^^
Apart from that the militaries of pretty much all countries publish such informations.
first thing i thought after watching this is how many bullshit comments there are. Quite alot from the looks of it. Your all acting like a bunch of women having a winge just for the sake of having one haha. Keep to the games ladies.
m12 rifle
why have what weapons our army has all over youtube giving the enemy intel on us ???
Get real snipers
They do its called NZSAS
Not even NZSAS, every Infantry Battalion has snipers in it.
New Zealand has a small army I think marksmen rifles will do fine
James 1 Marksman rifles are provided to each infantry section. Every infantry battalion has it's own snipers.
lou fraser They do have them, they have Artic Warfare rifles chambered in both 7.62 NATO and .50 BMG rounds.
@chrisls1z28 Uk, New Zealand and Australia. If every nation except the US got together we could sink the US overnight.
Terrible. They should have chosen the Heckler & Koch HK417
Why do you say that?
@@igoravonich2013 because I wrote that comment years ago as a 15-16y/o H&K fanboy.
@@cryo2156 isn't 417 308 cartridge 762 x 51
@@igoravonich2013 yes, they are essentially the same cartridge
