@@jmakminhas The British army training is quite different, in that it is much more discipline focused, but i'm pretty sure that because NZ was a British colony, aspects of their military are naturally based off of the UK.

I did all of this as a 15-17 year old in the NZ Cadet force, apprentice soldiers if you like. Waiorou still looks as cold, bleak and unfriendly as it always was. Mind you, the quality of the barracks and equipment is light years ahead of what we had to endure. Great doco. Made me yearn for those days. Not.

This basic almost looks fun. I went through basic at Jackson in 1990. The drill sergeants smoked the entire platoon every night, and also smoked us through the day. It was mind games and cursing and yelling at us all day, and they would find a reason to treat you like dirt. They didn't even need a reason. They were real dicks. These instructors seem really nice, and the training seems so laid back. I would have loved to have been made to write a sentence 300 times. That would have given me some downtime. Don't get me wrong. I'm not putting down the laid back training in the video. I'm saying I wish it would have been that way for me too. I might have actually learned more than I did.

Very interesting that that their field kit as like the canteen cup is American style and their heater stoves are German Esbit stove and fuel. Still very useful but I love the British style mess tins which from my experience trading for one from a British infantryman with one of my own Army issued Mess Kit to be better. British Army style Mess Kits can boil large amounts of water with 2 pans to melt snow to fill 2 combat canteens or water bottles. Boil canned foods or rations in winter. For my personal survival kit here in the US when I travel in the winter. I keep one US Canteen Cup and a British Army 2 piece Mess Kit because they are far better than the WWII/WWI German style 3 piece mess kit. British Commonwealth equipment are far more durable than German ones. This is my opinion from experience. But I will not discount the German mess kits in a survival and combat conditions. Field craft is to every soldier in field and combat conditions.

They got some flash gear these days. I was in the Territorials in the 1980s doing basic training and we were treated like shit, abused, had crap gear, and froze our asses off. The regular force NCO instructors made it no secret they wanted us to quit and many of us did. They didn't like us at all, especially the middle-class white guys.
I remember one Sergeant punching me n the back of the head for bugger all reason. I was only 17 and weighed about 57KG. He would have been 100KG Plus!
There was no political correctness in those days.
It was tough going getting through the 7 weeks of basic training. The ration packs in those days were just awful. We were cold, hungry and tired all the time.
The only reason I didn't chuck it in is that I didn't want to face the shame of going back home having pulled out of basic training, especially after telling everyone how I wanted to join the army. It was nothing like I expected.
Once we got back to our units it wasn't too bad and we were treated quite well.
From there I did a SAS selection course a year later. That was in the days when the SAS compound was inside the Papakura Army Base. I got heat exhaustion on the second day and pulled out. Nothing to be ashamed of. At least I tried.
I left the Territorials not long after that. All my friends were leaving also. There is only so much BS you can put up with if you are a free and critical thinking person.
Around the same time I discovered deer stalking in the NZ mountains. It gave me everything I was looking for that the Army didn't provide and I never looked back. I'm 54 these days and I still love heading into the bush by myself with a pack and rifle.

You cannot "safe" those rifles unless it is cocked first. The load action sequence goes- Cock it, Safe on, Magazine on, cock it again to chamber a round. So when walking around fully unloaded the safety catch will not be in the "safe" position

    • @UranusGaseous
      @UranusGaseous 3 роки тому

@@lighty9023 I get that but that just invites complacency. I don't consider any weapon safe unless it's on safe. It rings alarm bells in my head when I see a weapon not on safe even when unloaded.
And the reason why I say complacency is because a weapon loaded can also be not on safe.. makes it a hot weapon. A weapon unloaded can not be confirmed safe unless you actually physically pick it up and check the chamber. Get what I mean.
I get other countries are different in the weapons handling doctrine but I went through the US Marine Corps and the one safety rule they drill into us is "Treat every weapon as if it were loaded." I and many of my fellow boots have been punished for not having our weapon on safe.. even though it was unloaded.
If it can't be put on safe when it's unloaded that's understandable but I think that is a major safety flaw design.

LIVING BEING IS OUR RACE, MANKIND IS OUR RELIGION, HINDU,MUSLIM,SIKH,CHRISTAIN, THERE IS NO SEPARATE RELIGION
ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR is the father of all souls that JESUS, MOHAMMAD, GURU NANAK, VEDH was telling in BIBLE, QURAN, GURU GRANTHA SAHEB
.. In OLD Orthodox Jewish Bible KABIR is mentioned...KABIR means (GREAT or MIGHTY GOD) in hebrew...but when translated in different languages translator removed KABIR word..... www.jagatgururampalji.org/en/bible
Quran written in arabic has also KABIR word....KABIR means SUPREME in arabic..... www.jagatgururampalji.org/en/quran-sharif
In vedh also KABIR is mentioned.....
      www.jagatgururampalji.org/en/supreme-god-hinduism

U will get surprised that in Holy book of SIkh called PRAANSANGALI…. GURU NANAK himself described that LORD KABIR is his Guru and Lord KABIR met him..and in GURU GRANTHA SAHEB Guru Nanak called Lord kabir as kartar (GOD)..but todays Sikh says that GURU NANAK had no Guru........ www.jagatgururampalji.org/en/shri-guru-granth-sahib
Just by reading holy books it is impossible to get depth knowledge of Holy text because we are just a living beings.. In vedhas also KABIR is mentioned...our brain isnot capable and doesnot understands the secrets behind the words and world.....JESUS AND MOHAMMAD both were aware of LORD KABIR but later followers were not able to get depth knowledge .....In bible it is written that Jesus was son of FATHER... then WHO IS THE FATHER?

Brother/SISTER LORD KABIR has send the messenger in present time in the form of SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ... BIBLE, QURAN, VEDH, GURU GRANTHA SAHEB are holy books of Christain, Hindu, MUlsim, SIKh & all these holy books are suggesting one ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR but today preachers of different religion doesnot understand the secrets thats why HUMAN society cannot get full benefits from ALMIGHTY GOD...As a result more and more people are becoming non believer.....

Endless yelling and screaming on its own isn't the only way to exact discipline. Apparently it's ramped up when the cameras are off though. From what I've seen publicised the US is way over the top on that. Commonwealth countries are all modelled off the British methods, and while there is plenty of yelling, they retain their own personality more. The pressure comes more in, this is the standards required and to some degree it's up to the individual to meet them.

I've seen the USMC the only thing that seperate the U.S Military and N.Z Military is the fact that unlike America, New Zealand ain't "REALLY, FULLY INVOLVED IN" the War.
Therefore NZ Government see no need to fund our Military to the extent of the United States, since we only play a small role in the War.
Also America has a proud Patriotic culture to serve an sacrifice for it's country and freedom, A lot more Americans are wanted and a lot more want to go into the Army. New Zealand well 🤔 Rugby is our Patriotic culture 🤣🤷‍♂️ also we don't put our soldiers in the spotlight, put them on talk shows or have them cheezy viral "Marine comes home videos" in New Zealand.
