I come from a family of 3 boys & between us & my father who leases or buys a new truck every three years we have owned a ton of trucks over the last 40 years. When my father retired we laughed at him when he traded in his Chevy dually for the first gen goofy looking ridgeline "truck". We couldn't have been more wrong. For everyday life in the mountains of Canada I have never driven a better vehicle for driving on snowy roads at speed & do just about everything except for heavy towing. Unless your a landscaper, rock crawler or need to pull a large fifth wheeler its almost perfect.
Owner of a 2013 . Love it still.
I am so ready for them to put the mdx hybrid powertrain in it. 3.0v6 hybrid...maybe plug-in ev only range??? That would be awesome.
Have 9,000 miles on my 2022 - and I couldn't agree with you more..
Wow - I've gotta admit, that's a NICE looking truck! 🤤... The lift gives it a more aggressive presence too; the slight body roll might take a little getting use to though. But very nice!
Hey Ben thank you for making these great videos they keep me happy in my spirits up keep up the great work
Great you're mixing in more normal regular vehicles on the channel. Personally I tune in for the TRX's and Raptor's etc. Butttt you know, its nice to have a mix and appeals to the average man/woman.
If you need the ground clearance then a 2 or 3 inch lift is a nice option to go with.
It probably is the correct offset on those aftermarket wheels but to me it could have been pushed out a little bit more. Also, maybe a smaller diameter wheel for extra protection too. I do like the height.
Great looking Ridgeline and something I am seriously considering. Do you know what the wheel specs are? Specifically the width and offset? Thanks and nice video!
I think a 3 or 4 inch lift is the only way to go with the new Ridgeline, it desperately needs it.
What brand of lift was installed? Cost? Link?
Overall performance-wise, do you recommend the 2" or 3" lift?
Honestly I like it looks great for a midsize
Looks way better with a lift! Nice review.
Ive never understood on their supposed "off road" (Trailsport or even HPD). How would this lift effect warranty though??? And whats the dealership going to say(unless they did it) if say you come back with suspension or anything that even could remotely have caused a warranty issue..will they say ok and cover it or want to say..sorry its lifted thats what causes that to fail(name any part that had geometry thrown off from a lift). How hard is it to also align the tires on that. does any of the safety stuff need recalibrated?
Love the look have tons of questions about the lift and warranty and mechanical stuf.
Honda did a nice job with the looks of the refresh and the dealer did a nice lift. Just hope they also added the correct spacers in to make sure the geometry is all correct.
As soon as he gave us a view of the suspension, that was my first thought. It looks strained.
From what I’ve read the 3 inch includes decent linkage change and 1 inch subdrop. So I’m sure geometry isn't perfect, but not too bad. Think it looks killer 🔥
Agreed - straight up looks really nice. Well done, I'm sold!
how much did it save them to delete the USB on the rear of the center console in the sport. wow. thats most definately not any usable storage space though.
Did this specific installation require the front axle to be moved forward?
Sweet one ! I need a lift on my 2007 . :) and the 2021 motor and trans :)
I drove by that honda dealership in 2010. Back then it was called "Stockton to Malone "Honda.
Awesome review!
What? My local Honda dealer?! cool I didn't know I would ever stumble upon a video with my own dealer in the whole USA
Bro.... Where was this lift from? I wish you mentioned that
Who are the lifts made by who installed it?
Hi, just wondering what is the lift called?
Do you think this is better than a ranger?
Completely agree with you all about the Ridgeline and the sport with the 3" lift looks great
Did the lift on my RTE-L.
@@DVDVAMPIRE01 what height and what brand?
@@DVDVAMPIRE01 I also have the new Rtle. Did the dealership install your lift? Does an aftermarket kit violate warranty. Also wondering if it threw off your sensors.
@@DVDVAMPIRE01 I second those questions the guy above me asked.
@@krsRios... So since the dealer is performing the work, it falls under their extended warranty . It's the Trax kit which allows for a 2inch lift. They are also installing larger tires to provide an additional 1 inch (so 3 inches overall). I should have it by this Saturday.
Any info on this lift kit? I’ve put some Toyo’s on mine and I’m running like crazy, plus I could always use more ground clearance! Hope you can answer my question man I loved the vid!(:
Did you put Toyota lift kit on your Ridgeline?
Who makes the lift? What size tires?
Just bought this truck and wow. It's amazing
Bought one of the first RL "06s" in "05", lifted it and it was great. Bought a new "19" in "18" would like to lift it but its fine just the way it is, love the looks tho.....
Thank you so much!!!
What do you prefer 2” or 3 “
Nice but, I have a question: is there any setting or option for driving with a trailer? The Transmision has additional oil cooling?
How do folks compensate for Honda Sensing when their Pilot/Ridgeline is lifted >2”? Read of LKAS not working properly and that dealers won’t recalibrate the forward camera if you have to have your windshield replaced.
What brand of lift kit used?
I like it. Cool little truck
Where to get the lift from ?
Definitely an improvement!
It honestly doesn't look bad. I wish they would've used the jeweled eye reflector housing for the headlights though. These look pretty cheap
It should be 18 by 10 with a 35 inch tires or 33 for rubbing issues .
Entertainment touch screen responds well? No kidding? Anyhow, I'm getting my Ridgeline today, it is exciting haha
Most stock shocks are not recommended for use in lifts over 2 inches. Looks great though
What is the difference between a 2" lift kit & 2" leveling kit?
What brand lift?
I think 17” wheels is the sweet spot with more meat on those tires.
ya gota be able to fit over the brakes. 18's are standard on the truck so dont think 17's will fit.
Wheels and tires size please.
Regardless what a lot of people say about this truck It’s looks awsome all kitted out.
Wish they offered premium sound system on lower trim!
Very informative & nice looking Ridgeline. I've been debating between Ford Ranger & Ridgeline.
Ridgeline is more reliable & holds more value. But it's too pricey & looked like an El Camino. I'd rather a real El Camino.
The Ranger has the sportier look & it's not as pricey but probably wont get me 200,000 miles without some mechanical issues.
Thanks for your review. It was very helpful. The 3" lift gives it the look I prefer.
Maybe I missed it. Did they say the company that manufactured the lift kit? I have a feeling it is a Traces.
It’s after market
:33, that drop off is amazing. 😂
Amazing truck! Best looking light duty truck on the market these days.
97.5k subs! your so close to 100k subscribers! congrats for making it this far! 😃😃
Thank you
@@BenHardyCars your welcome!!!
It looks really good! I like them lifted they look a lot better! Wish Honda did this!
Why is this listed as a lift review and you just go over the entire truck, you’ve already done that video- focus on the lift. What brand is the lift? $3000 lol 😂 “stealership” Traxda Ridgeline lifts are $400 and $600 installed and aligned at 4 wheel parts, this is a $2000 grab by the dealership, toyota does the same thing when they offer aftermarket lifted Tacoma’s on the lot. Do not do this you are getting ripped off. Also, why on earth would you pay $2500 for an 18” set of wheels and tires? Ridgelines all come standard with 18’s, and if you want 265/60/18 tires you can buy a set of BFG KO2’s at Costco for $800 installed. If you’re going to upgrade your wheels get 17’s with more meat. Anyone who spends $5K for this setup literally just threw $3000 out the window. This review doesn’t focus just on the lift, either needs to be renamed or trimmed down to 3 minutes.
Thank you so much for those really important indications; that may have decide me to by this and mod it to my needs ;)
I went to Traxda and owner was nice to give me a tour of their shop & setup. 👍 Truxx has 1.5" front leveling kit on sale $189 JSport is $690 1.5" front .75" rear wtf with the prices atleast I know Traxda made in USA.
Traxda has a 3.5 inch kit on sale for $1000
@@repentorperish488 why a leveling kit instead of lift kit? Aren't these trucks already level?
Does it have an electronic rear differential lock? Does it have low range gearing? How well does does “off-road” with the lift?
No rear locker or low range. Think Subaru AWD, in truck form. It has a traction management system with Normal/Mud/Sand/Snow.
Basically the system adjusts throttle response and transmission shift points per mode that your in.
Ridgelines do great off-road, so long as you don't treat them like a 4Runner or Jeep. I wouldn't go for the 265 width on the tires though. Stay at 245 per manufacturer specs and that should keep the transmission happy 👍
This car can’t do any serious off-roading.
@@Ww8.3 and it's not designed to or supposed to....
@@ericrichards5316 it has torque vectoring E-difs the traction managements also change the center differential bias with up to 70% of the power going to the rear wheels.
How is this considered a mid size when it has a flat bed
Hey Ben, this content is 2yrs ago. I'm wondering if this lift is from factory.
Same question.
You should mention that the wheels and tires are not Honda Factory. Also, the new owner should also get the stock wheels and tires.
I want to see a comparison to the new Nissan Frontier !
Please throw the Toyota Tacoma in that mix!
@@charlespetersoniii2066 its better in room ride quality bed capacity and fuel economy and its faster.. but will lose in ground clearance and extreme offroad capability and towing. so unless you need to gouge ditches crawl rocks or tow more than 5K lbs the ridgeline will do everything else in more comfort.
So I got a ridgeline about 3 months ago and I will say that even though I absolutely love this truck, I still have to complain about the little stuff. The touchscreen is unresponsive little less than commonly and the accessibility in the android version is pretty half baked.. (you see in the video the blank pages on the home screen he was scrolling through). This model DOES NOT have wireless Apple CarPlay, you would have to plug into the truck below the air cabin control next to the power AUX plug, mild inconvenience sure, but my other half’s 2022 Blazer has this wireless option and it’s spoiled me.. Finally the S part of the D/S on the gear selector does not mean Sport… it means Standard, as in, you will be changing gears with the paddle shifters. It does not offer any more traction or steering control.
Other than that, I love the space and gas mileage. Towing capacity of 2.5 tons is very useful for a midsized truck of the caliber. 9/10 🎉
I wish the bed depth on the Ridgeline was at least another 2- 3 inches deeper !
3 1/4 would b nice.....
That's what she said... 😏
@@carlosmorris4510 😂😂😂
nah i don't think its necessary plus its easier to reach and you a get big trunk
Who performed the lift? Has Honda commented officially on whether the lift will void the warranty?
Voids the warranty on your suspension unless the dealership does it as an add on which will set up back another 5k
Honda needs to update their system and add a 360 camera.
Does anyone know if it is expensive to have a 3 inch lift installed? Also, would it affect the geometry of the Ridgeline? If I would go 2 or 3 inch lift and would I be needing a new set of wheels and tires? Just asking because we just got our Ridgeline and I am still new to truck this is our first time owning a truck. Thank you to all that would reply! 😃
2 inches lift is the most I will do on a daily driver truck.
A truck is not a practical daily driver lift or no lift. That's where the Ridgeline comes in.
@@squidusn71Correct.
@@squidusn71 practical, probably not. I've been daily driving my lifted truck for years.
@@hybridstiger - why is over 2" a bad idea?
@@pordanjeterson1652 That's just my preference. Some people like the look of a lifted trucks, but me personally I'm not a huge fan which is why two inches is the most I will go with because it will still looks stock height in most people eyes.
Tires still look small, I think bigger tires will make it better!
How does a bigger tire which translate to heavier and more rolling resistance makes a vehicle better? You'd lose fuel efficiency.
@@squidusn71 yes it will definitely make it less efficient but I referring to the looks. It will lower it to maybe 1 to 2 mpg! I have the second gen pilot and with my bigger tires it made my car look alot more aggressive looking!
@@vwrxlasvegas sorry but making a Honda Pilot look aggressive is in vain.
Bigger tires give you more ground clearance. Since you’re limited in lift kit with IFS. Get every inch you can if you’re off roading.
@@squidusn71 It’s better for off-roading
How about saying a little more about the lift? Installation? Approach? Warranty impact? Who installed? Honda OEM? ???????
Having an issue with my brand new 2021 ridgeline. Audio when I'm hooked up with android auto OR with bluetooth does this weird volume adjustment thing when standing still. I've reset everything done all the troubleshooting, even took it to dealer who said oh it's normal to have a shitty sounding stereo in your new $38k truck... Oddly enough my brother new 2021 crv with the same basic stereo does NOT do this. Nor does my wife's rav4 2020 when we use android auto,,,,
Could it be your phone's issue vs the truck's problem?
Wife's phone, daughter's phone and my old iphone all have the issue
Same. Dealership says it’s normal, while it clearly isn’t. CarPlay unusable.
Is this lift an option from Honda? Seems to be aftermarket. Also is it still under Honda warranty?
All lift kits are aftermarket. If you have it done on your own you would probably be using the same lift kit the difference is if they do it at the dealership they will warranty the work if you have any issues down the road but they charge you way more to do it. If you do it on your own that voids your suspensions warranty from Honda but if you have it professionally installed they should warranty your suspension work if you have any issues.
Does the lift break the warrantee?
If it’s done by the dealership no but if you do it on your own it void your suspension warranty
is this truck lifted by Honda directly or by the dealer?
Dealership
I thought the Sport had halogen headlights, not LED.
I have the Sport. Halogen DRL’s but LED heads and fogs.
What does it cost to lift the Ridgeline
as he said in the video, $3k for the lift and $2500 for the wheels and tires.
A 3-inch lift seems a bit much. The 265s will fit with no lift at all - just saw two Ridgelines set up that way at my dealer.
I want buy 2021 Ridgeline and put just 1.5 front leveling kit on it.
@@Jeff-or6em buying a '21 Ridgeline soon & am trying to understand.
1) Why a leveling instead of a lift kit?
2) why not 2" or more?
@@pordanjeterson1652 I don’t want to make a monster trunk and lift all 4 wheels. I just want to lift front end to level off truck so it looks better.
@@Jeff-or6em does this change the ride feel at all? Will that mess with the warranty or sensors?
@@pordanjeterson1652 no,no and no.
Plus dealership put leveling kit on mine.
This Honda almost looks like a Nissan frontier but I like it what Honda did to it. Honda has built a cute truck I love it
Aggressive tire! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂
I’m too oldschool to like black wheels on my truck. I want my truck’s wheels to have enough chrome it burns The retinas of your eyesb
Why is every title a question? How am I supposed to know if it’s a good idea ?
My main complaint about the stock ridgeline, thats its to low for a truck.
Nice name
One thing to note, most review channels are only reviewing the "off-road" packages for trucks these days. So looking at a normal model, let's say the 2021 Chevy Silverado RST 4x4 (or any non "trail boss" trim), ground clearance is listed as 8.09 inches on Chevy's own website. Funny how that is basically the same as Honda's 7.9" clearance. How about the Colorado (any non ZR2 trim), 8.2". So, everyone likes to pick on the Honda's clearance, but the reality is that unless you get an off-road specific trim (and no the Z71 package does not add clearance), the Honda is right in line with the majority of trucks sold, or at least the 1/4 inch isn't going to make a difference.
Let's talk stock angles (approach/breakover/departure): Honda: 20.1/19.6/22.1; Chevy: 19.0/19.4/23.9. Funny, those are almost identical. So, yeah, if you get a Trail Boss or ZR2 (10 inches of stock clearance and I am not certain the angles) it will have better clearance, but the majority of trucks sold are NOT off-road packages.
Honda is my favorite. Best cars and trucks ever! Stay Healthy And Stay Safe :)
Love ❤️ the comment Arcade I agree.
Any info on what kind of lift? Size of tires? Any rubbing? Great video! Good Job!
Traxda 3.5
A video on how the lift will affect the drivetrain and if it will cause the bearings to wear out faster would be something nice to see and know about? that has always been the issue with the older ridgelines you could lift them but it would cause those bearings on the axles to wear out much faster because they are now at a steeper angle so I'm guessing the same is true with this newer truck?
@@JohnWeik Good Point 👍 Thank you for that. Will do more research 🙂
Saw the traxda specs on the lift they lower the subframe and according to them the cv axle angle is better then their 2 inch lift.
@@JohnWeik it comes with a subframe spacer kit to keep it close to factory spec
What’s tow rating
5000 lbs
Super awesome
Looks like a great trip truck…just can’t wrap my head around $50k
That was definetly not full blown acceleration
Who installed the 3" lift ? The dealer or Honda ?
Has to be the dealer
The spacer lift kit is made by Traxda They have the 3.5 inch kit available for the current Ridgeline, Pilot and Passport.
He said dealer
I assume the dealership did the lift ?
Yes
Would give it a play if we're 20inch wheels
Why do some dealerships do truck lifts and others don't...I'm from Springfield, Il. and these lazy fools won't even level my 2020 Ridgeline...
People’s idea of a Full Size truck is just broken. A 2021 Honda Ridgeline has the same outside dimensions as a 2001 Ford F-150. Everyone thought the F-150 was a full size truck back then.
They really need to add a hybrid system like the Accord for $1500-2000 and it will sell a whole lot better. Definitely included F150 style generator power. Not everyone needs a half ton.
Without question, best mid size truck made.
Oh theres plenty of questions
LOL!
Needs a shift stick
It looks too weird with the small tires and lift.
Love my 2020
I really am considering trading my 2019 BE for a setup like this
Let me know if you do this. I have a 2019 RTL-E and have considered it as well. How many miles do you have on it. I have 15k on mine.
@@alanmason1056 I have 400 short of 50,000 and carvana is giving me a trade in value of 36,000
That’s probably a good price
Love the ridgeline, don't really like the buttons. Am I starting a truck or a washing machine?
Basically every vehicle has that now. What i hate is getting further and further from proper shifters. I want Manual back so i have some control again!
@@TheBrooklynfoo well they still exist luckily. But more and more models are abandoning them, I think the accord did most recently.
I love it
I am serious about buying the 21 Ridgeline and possibly lifting it. One thing I won't do is spent $2800.00 for gold wheels (ghetto). a sticker that can be replicated by a vinyl shop, and the goofiest of all... stick on oversize plastic panels over the wheel wells.
i think gold BBM wheels on 90s subara WRX looks clean imo.
Can you lift a Prius next time?
Anyone have any real good reason to spend $3k to lift a Ridgeline?
