  • What is a "gravity lock" and how does it work? It's a lock used on front load dumpsters, this is just one kind of gravity lock available on the market. The model you are looking at is a "S Series Front Mount Automatic Dumpster Lock" made by SERIO-US LOCK.
    Visit the SERIO-US LOCK website for more info: www.seriouslock...
    As you'll see in the video these are really simple to use and these kinds of locks discourage illegal dumping. This lock is mounted on a 2 cubic yard Wastequip dumpster that was provided by Republic Services of Tampa, Florida.
    These locks automatically open (with the padlock still locked) when the container is being loaded by the truck - hence the name "gravity lock."
    Thanks for watching!

    New commercial property owner and I woke up at 2am wondering if I was going to have to unlock my 2 yard dumpster every pick up. This saved me! Thank you!

    This is great as long as you trust everyone that has a key/combination to it. This was installed at my condo and people just lock it in the open position so it cant close. Or they steal the lock.

    I put these on everyday or the plates for casters here in Indy we have picked up business by at least 3 times as much since WM bought Ray's trash and all Ray's trucks were unsafe to be on the road so they couldn't handle the trash load and where I work Republic Services had to take on so much we cannot keep 8 slant on the lot we order new ones and I and 5 others repair bottoms and they are gone before we're done but it's job security and what I make a hour is crazy I've gotten 14 dollars a hour in 2 years in raises alone love my job

      Thanks! These definitely deter illegal dumping, which is nice on a smaller container.

    It’s weird cause they added this type of dumpster to my apartment but I’m not sure why. I do know that two weeks in a row it was overfilled and wouldn’t close which is against our policy..

    Is there a way to make them MORE secure? I have one here at work and tweakers are always getting in somehow :/

    How much? I'd like to keep trash pandas out, not sure if this clamps down tight enought to stop them though.

      @FormerWMDriver  7 років тому +1

      You can still lift it a little, but not much. If a trash panda tried hard enough - it could probably get in. Those creatures are quite skilled.

    I ordered two of these for the store I work at because we’ve got homeless people constantly going through our trash and then leaving trash all over the ground. I thought for sure this was the answer..I was WRONG! I don’t have cameras back there and some how they STILL manage to get the lid open! We come to work, the lid is open, the lock is securely in place and they have rambled through the trash and left trash all over the ground! I am at my wits end..Do not be fooled, if someone wants to get into this dumpster with a gravity lock bar, THEY CAN!

      I've seen versions of these locks all over the place. I'm surprised you haven't seen any over there.

      Thats strange cuz All I've seen are the regular lock bars over here.

    • @FormerWMDriver
      @FormerWMDriver  10 років тому

      KennysTrucks Yeah that regular lock bar should be a gravity lock too. It just works a little differently.
