      I had one similar. We used the stingers as an anchor point and then used a tow strap attached to the winch cable to pull out then loaded from flat ground. Luckily had the tow strap that day.

    Got my nedlands ofer the summer. I keep a snatch block and short chain in my truck. Wrap chain around trailer frame attach snatch block to it, run ur cable thru, now you have a change of direction to pull it over. Learned the hard way trying to hurry because I was worried about blocking traffic. Wasn't watching as close as I should have and had it slide off the rails. Luckily I had the snatch block. Sucked but I learned a new trick in the process. Just gotta remember to go slow so you don't make it worse.

      Sometimes you learn the hard way. I have had them fall off the rils several times for different reasons

    Gotta love how Nedland can handle most situations. I absolutely love mine and it was your videos that convinced me that was the route to go. Nice job brother!

      The reason most people have hook lift trucks is because they bought a crappy dumpster trailer!!!

  • @KoryGuisinger
    @KoryGuisinger 11 місяців тому +2

    If you have something like that again, once your cable is hooked to the bin try running your cable around one of your rollers on the trailer to hold the dumpster to 1 side so it won't slide off the rail like it was.

  • @joecummings1260
    @joecummings1260 6 місяців тому

    I ran a cable unit for years, Carry some chain and a snatch block with you, You can use it to make your cable pull more to one side or the other. I carry a couple on my Landoll for just the same reason. Oil your wire rope, it looks really dry. And are those cable clips on the right way? It's hard to see in the vid. Never saddle a dead horse. And learn how to weave a "Farmer's Loop" or Flemish Eye" stronger than those damn clips and once you've done it a couple times faster

    I think a hooklift is definitely the way to go. With complicated pickups that roll off looks like a nightmare to operate.

    • @Lifes_Apprentice
      @Lifes_Apprentice  6 місяців тому

      It is a great trailer and not hard to deal with at all. In this case a hooklift may have helped though

    A short loop of chain wrapped around rail with cable run through to offset pull angle would have loaded it easy

    In my 45 years of hauling containers off and on I've seen a lot worse than that to be honest with you you might want to take some grease and put on your rails or that type of equipment you have to make it easier for the can the slide up on there just keep your rails low so they can won't be able to tip one way or another then if your truck won't pull it I'd suggest getting a friend with a full-size roll-off truck and he can win that thing out of there like nothing. The type of equipment you have though it is a little feeling of sketchy. Lol

      I feel the hooklift would have been better at lifting UP and I was pulling towards me and against the earth in this situation. I would still put my trailer against a small hooklift any day with a heavy load because I am lower to the ground

  • @timofai1
    @timofai1 11 місяців тому +1

    All you had to do was stretched the cable out you could be 45° and drag the container until it's straight and then go head and drag it onto the trailer. You don't want to hook lift for two compact don't have any room to maneuver the arm. Back in the day used to run into that problem all the time. Just hook and grab straight and go

    Id be so mad man!, hooklift would get that no problem though. Would work best backing up while winching it up, aka sucking the trailer underneath the can. Instead of dragging can onto trailer. The back wheels would stay where they are instead of dragging it. You made it happen though!
